초록

Since the 1980s, the Korean nation and the Korean people, as well as ideologies such as Nationalism and the People’s ideology, were dominating historical studies and historical understanding. Today democracy, which is a value that no one, not even the hardcore conservatists and progressives could deny or dismiss, is a value that could inspire the state and market and eventually lead them all to social unity. With this very concept of Democracy, we could attempt a new designing of democracy itself, and lay out the foundation for historical studies upon which they could contribute to not only the unity of the Korean nation, but also the unity of the Korean society.
In this article, after the liberation, Nationalism and the People’s ideology were prominently embraced, and how history managed to survive and establish itself in such environment, as well as how it came to be newly discovered and recognized in recent days, are the questions that are contemplated in this article.
