초록

본 논문은 성격 5요인이 팔정도에 미치는 영향을 실증적인 통계를통해 분석한 것이다. 이를 위해 350명의 남녀를 대상으로 자기기입식으로 설문을 받았다. 분석대상 중 남성은 51.8%, 여성은 44.0%였다. 연령은 50대 이상이 41.0%로 가장 많았으며 이어서 50대와 40대가 각각 30.2%와 10.5%를 차지하였다. 종교는 불교가 38.5%로 가장많았으며 이어서 종교 없음이 35.2%였다. 8정도는 각 지분별로 10문항씩 총 80문항을 만들었으며 5점 리커드 척도로 설문하였다. 8정도각 지분에 대해 10문항씩을 요인 분석한 결과 정사는 3개 하위요인으로, 나머지 7개는 각각 2개 요인으로 분류되었다.

This paper analyzes the impact of the five personality factors on the Eightfold Path through empirical statistics. For this purpose, a self-administered questionnaire was administered to 350 men and women. Among the subjects analyzed, 51.8% were men and 44.0% were women. Those in their 50s or older accounted for the most at 41.0%, followed by those in their 50s and 40s at 30.2% and 10.5%, respectively.
The most common religion was Buddhism at 38.5%, followed by none at 35.2%. A total of 80 questions were created, with 10 questions each for 8 degrees, and the survey was conducted on a 5-point Likert scale.
As a result of factor analysis of 10 questions for each of the 8 degrees, affairs were classified into 3 sub-factors and the remaining 7 were classified into 2 factors each. When the internal reliability of the sub-factors was calculated, the Cronbach's alpha of Factor 2, Factor 1, and Factor 2 were excluded from further analysis as Cronbach's alpha was less than 0.7. When the impact of the 5 personality factors on the Eightfold Path was confirmed through path analysis, neuroticism had a statistically significant negative influence on the 1 factor of positive attitude with an unstandardized coefficient of –0.363±0.056 and significance probability p=0.005. On the other hand, openness and conscientiousness had a statistically significant positive (+) influence with unstandardized coefficients of 0.278 ± 0.090 (p=0.002) and 0.136 ± 0.067 (p=0.042), respectively. Neuroticism has a statistically significant negative (–) effect on the factors. And openness had a statistically significant positive (+) effect not only on political views 1, but also on political views 2, political affairs 1, political affairs 3, political words 1, positive sentiments 1, positive sentiments 1, positive sentiments 2, and political views 1. Sincerity is a statistically significant positive (+) for Jeongsa 1, Jeongmyeong 1, Jeongyeo 2, Jeongup 1, Jeongmyeong 1, Jeongmyeong 2, Jeongjeongjin 1, Jeongjeongjin 2, Jeongnyeom 1, Jeongmyeong 2, Jeongmyeong 1, and Jeongjeong2 along with Jeong View 1. was having an impact. Extroversion had a statistically significant positive (+) effect on Jeongsa 1, Jeongsa 3, Jeongseo 1, Jeongseo 2, and Jeongup 2, and agreeableness had a statistically significant positive influence on Jeongseo 1, Jeongmyeong 2, Jeongmyeong 2, and Jeongjeong 2. Overall, neuroticism had a negative effect on the Eightfold Path, while openness and sincerity had a positive effect. And it was analyzed that extroversion and agreeableness have a slight positive effect.
This study may have a religious bias, with Buddhists accounting for over 38.5% and those with no religion accounting for 35.2%, while Christians and Catholics accounted for a combined 17.7%. However, it is significant as the first study to empirically analyze the impact of personality traits on the 8th degree. It is believed that empirical research on other Buddhist doctrines and theories besides the Eightfold Path will be possible in the future. And comparative studies among religious people will be possible.
