초등학교 교사의 다문화 가정 인식에 관한 연구 (A Study on Elementary School Teachers' Perception of Multi-cultural Family)

초록

본 연구는 초등학교 교사가 다문화 가정을 어떻게 인지하는지에 따라 다문화 가정 자녀의 학교 적응에도 영향을 미칠 수 있다는 관점 하에 초등학교 교사의 단일민족과 다민족에 대한 인식, 다양한 가족 수용도, 문화적 역량, 통합교육에 대한 인식 등의 하위변인을 통해 다문화 가정에 대한 인식 수준을 살펴보았다.
그 결과 첫째, 단일민족과 다민족에 대한 인식은 비교적 중도적으로 나타났으며 다문화가정에 대해서는 편견 없이 긍정적으로 인식하고 있었다. 교사들의 문화적 역량은 보통수준으로 타문화와 자문화에 대한 차이로 인한 갈등해결능력에는 부족한 면을 보였다. 이에 통합교육에 대한 필요성은 느끼고 있었지만 다문화에 대한 전문가로서는 부족감을 느끼고 있는 것으로 나타났다.
둘째. 교사의 인구사회학적 요인에 따른 다문화가정 인식에는 유의미한 차이를 보이지 않았다.
셋째, 초등 교사들의 다문화가정 관련변인 중 다문화가정인식에 차이를 보이는 변인은 '단일민족과 다민족에 대한 인식', '다양한 가족수용도', '통합교육에 대한 인식' 순으로 나타났으며 그 중 '단일민족과 다민족에 대한 인식' 변인이 가장 유의미하게 나타났다.
넷째, 초등 교사들의 다문화가정 관련 변인들 중 가장 높은 상관관계를 나타낸 변인은 '단일민족과 다민족에 대한 인식'과 '다양한 가족수용도' 변인으로 나타났다.

영어초록

The purpose of this study was to examine elementary school teachers' perception of multi-cultural family in terms that such perceptional factors as understanding of mono-cultural and multi-cultural families, cultural capabilities, and awareness of the mainstreaming education, etc could affect children's adaptation to a school.
The results of the study were as follows: study findings show that elementary school teachers' perception of single-race and multiple-races, acceptance of diverse families and perception of integrative education seem to be the base of positive influence upon their perception of multi-cultural family. If teachers, whose influence upon children is great, have no prejudice and accept diverse families with equality consciousness, they will provide help to children's development. Since teachers' unprejudiced minds and equality attitudes toward children can maintain the mutual cooperative relations between schools and families―children's two major life spaces, it will probably have positive influence upon children's adaptability to schools and their development of personality. Therefore, in order to improve the complementary relations between parents and teachers and prevent children's school maladjustment-oriented educational deviation phenomena, it is necessary for elementary school teachers to have unprejudiced perception of all the children.
Secondly, there is no such considerable difference among the teachers in terms of perception of multi-cultural family, depending on population-sociological factor.
Thirdly, among the determinants related to multi-cultural family, 'understanding of mono-cultural and multi-cultural families' are the most influential, and 'acceptance of diverse forms of family' and 'awareness of the mainstreaming education' are following in order.
Lastly, the most relational and influential determinant are the 'understanding of mono-cultural and multi-cultural families' and the 'acceptance of diverse forms of family.'
