After reading this short novel, I intend to imagine that I become a person who is like Gimpel. Exactly speaking, Gimpel is a person who I have wanted to meet. Although he is called a fool, I like such a foolishness. I think it should brings me warmth of humanity. So If Gimpel exists in real world, I want to be his friend. But in real world, it is not easy to be the fool like him or to exist like him. He has a simple, plain and uncomplicated attitude about all things and he is very gullible because he believes everything he heard. So people is easy to tease him. They often play tricks of him with a very simple mind. His job is a baker, and people would come to his store and tell him that the Messiah had come, that the Messiah was in his house, to please rush to his house, that the Messiah was there. Certainly if common person hear this, he doesn`t easily believe them. In fact everyone couldn`t believe easily things although it is true fact. But unlike normal man, Gimpel would leave the store open and go there. After he does, he only meets that people were laughing at him as he would return to his bakery. It is a funny and ludicrous scene.

The Gentleman From Cracow
This story tells us a fantastical legend of the village of Frampol. The village of Frampol follows the Jewish laws and practices differ from other normal village. So they think separating between Jews and Gentiles. One day a gentleman from Cracow comes to the village of Frampol. The villagers are impoverished and suffering from severe drought. On the contrary poverty of the villagers this gentleman has unimaginable property. Seeing his rich appearance inhabitants of Frampol surely, considered the rich man as their savior and village`s good fortune. I think that they are already dazzled by his riches. I couldn`t see this people in this story as completely religious people. They surely try to keep from doing sin but they tend to act by materialism. They tend to prefer having money to considering their soul. Originally Jews believe that only Jews can go paradise and if Jews have a sin can`t go there. So they have to keep the law which was given by God. So they have to think that their souls having no sin are important than their physical desire. But they don`t do so in this story. They also marry for money. One of the Jewish customs is a dowry that money or property brought by a bride to her husband at marriage.

This novel makes me think about the fact that human is mortal. It is a universal fact. but everyone want to deny that fact like the boss who is this novel`s main character. his son only appears in old picture because he died six years ago. It had been a terrible shock to the boss. The boss gets seeing accidentally that the fly falls to the ink pot. On testing, He observes whether the fly can survive or die. At first,Mr.Woodifield is a main character. I think about intention of Woodifield`s appearance. Mr.Woodifield strock of apoplexy .So he seems to be near the death. He lets the boss meditate on his son`s death. But the boss doesn`t receive Mr.mansfield with a haughty style, he receive the visitor in sympathy. I receive a good impression to him. I think it is one of the novelist`s intentions.

You touched me
I had thought that love comes in unconscious state. After seeing Hadrian, I consider how sensible touch important to love each other. Before 2 years, I had read touch gives occasion to good impression to human in a journal. Hadrian feels strangely love to his sister in law against gap of the age- her sister 10 year older than him, her appearance-not beautiful and class organization. I think he loves her in veracity after emotional radically change by touching because it is written in p344 that he doesn`t want her for the money. I take this fact that love comes first emotional not physical. Touch bring into emotional change about Matilda. In my experience, I couldn`t keep physical love for a long time. I think it`s not love but just good feeling. It seems, in this novel, that the money plays leading part in everything. that is, They are ruled materialistic thinking. I think love hasn`t relation deeply to money. But it is different some to characters in this novel. They are probably controlled by money. Hadrian think he could not do with Matilda, without the money. If Matilda has no money, does Hadrian want to marry her? I think its answer is "NO" . In reality, If I fall in love with someone, I couldn`t receive him my husband.

Shooting an ElephantSometimes I would see that child do a cruel thing. They kill many ants cruelly. Why so?There were too many whys a man's life. but I think people is born with evil nature. One of the evil nature appears to me that feeling good about breaking a weak being. In this novel, English is cruel to weak Indian. The writer is an Indian. but he's job is affiliated with Engilh. He isplaced in a delicate position. When the elephant happening occur, he get a better glimpse about imperialism and understanding about the leader of English. Because he has a riffle . I think It stands for the privilege of ruler. He isn't of a mind to kill the harmless elephant at that time. but after he look at the native faces all happy and excited over that the elephant is going to be shot, he shoots the elephant with the riffle feeling the native is like the English. As he expect The crowd is very glad that in shooting an elephant. I can read evil natures of men and I try to understand imperialism as writer do. but I can't do that. What is happened If this writer might not shoot the elephant? If I stood in that situation with a gun , I never shot the elephant. because I know who really a fool is. Although the elephant kills the coolie ,the writer don't in the least want to shoot peacefully eating an elephant.I think it is important than the other's wants to..and I'll be the target of criticism. But I never regret doing so. Contrary to the writer I believe if one person do something, It is not because he is "must", but because he is "willing". Well, and I don't want to understand acts of English leader who is oppressor to people in weak nation cruelly. There's one other point which claims our attention. Imperialism is a word of Latin origin-it means imperator and imperium. in this novel .It is not from intention of imperator but from potential intention of the English. One of victim of imperialism is Indian. They yell painful with oppress from English. Simultaneously they fell into contradictory victim by want to see killing an elephant which can be avoided. while Elephant is killing they enjoy it and support him to kill the animal . The writer realize who this terrorem theoretic name "imperialism" intend for. This fact is perplex me.then, I also know no longer only leader is evil but The follower makes leader.
