Invictus国际关系学院 00924642成瑟娥If the person who doesn’t be frustrated by a failure is doing one’s best, there will be a miracle someday. We are living as forget to like that truth. We just regards that the miracle is a privilege of a particular people or occurred on the movie. But that is wrong. The miracle happens on my surroundings and sometime I can be the impetus of the miracle. On this movie, the director said like that miracle. ‘Invictus’ makes the miracle that happened to the person who is dreaming and don’t give up until the end.‘Invictus’ is based on the novel that is based on the real story. This movie is about ‘Nelson Mandela’ who is the first ever black president of the South Africa in history and he is the human right campaigner who was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. However this movie is not the politic movie or revolution movie but is the sports movie. This movie just show how to reconcile and harmonize through the sports ‘Rugby’.First, When I heard about this movie’s title I was very wondering about what the ‘invictus’ means. So, I searched about the meaning of ‘Invictus’ on the internet. Consequently, I found out that meaning and that means ‘unconquerable’ in Latin. This word points this movie’s story exactly and connotations ultimate message which the movie wants to say. The president Nelson Mandela recited a poem on the movie. It was very impressed to me when I heard that. Originally, that poem is called ‘Invictus’, written by an England poet, William Earnest Henry. He suffered from tuberculosis and had to amputate one of his legs. He wrote this poem from craving to have his cheerful life back while he is hospitalized for two years. The poem mentioned that though he is suffered from his terrible circumstances, he will not yield to his faith. Because he said he is master of the his faith and he is the captain of the his soul. Despite his disability, he survived with one foot intact and led an active life until his death like he said in his poem. Nelson Mandela also make the ‘Invictus’ his motto to do and love to recite in his whole life. He believed if there is willpower that control one’s self he think he can overcome how the life is hard to live.This film’s main character Nelson Mandela spent a tough time in the jail for about 30years because of the politic problems. After the imprisonment, he was elected president with inundant black’s supporting in South Africa in 1994. Originally, South Africa was the most racist country and a great number of blacks were dominated by a small number of whites because of the apartheid. But the black president ‘Nelson Mandela’ didn’t walk the path of the revenge or punishment but walk the path of the forgiveness and harmony about the white’s long-time tyranny. For that harmony, he chose the ‘Rugby’. Before, many countries also had chosen the sports as the policy for uniting their country. Mandela also was consider about that impact and dives into his policy. I think that decision is very chock-full of the beliefs and totally noble. He through that decision showed us what the magnanimity means and let us know what belief is. All of people didn’t think their Rugby team ‘Springboks’ can be the winner in the Rugby Worldcup. But Mandela was not same, he continuously believes ‘Springboks’ and was dedicated to supporting to them. As the results, ‘Springboks’ did wonders, they became the winner of the Rugby Worldcup.After this movie, I was lost in thought. I was overwhelmed by Nelson Mandela’s spirits again. I think he is the most merciful people ever among the extant politicians.And he is the man of conviction whatever happens to him. Still now, his words lingered on my mouth “I’m the master of the my faith, I’m the captain of the my soul”.Yes, I also
