본문내용

본 연구는 장애를 가진 성인을 위한 운동프로그램을 계획하는 방법을 알아보고자 하는데 있었다. 장애가 있는 사람들의 운동을 재활의 한 수단으로 생각하기보다는 삶의 질 향상을 위한 방법으로 고찰하였으며, 장애와 관련된 건강의 문제와 운동의 효과를 알아보았다. 장애를 가진 사람들의 운동은 과부하의 원리, 점진성의 원리, 특수성의 원리 등의 트레이닝의 원칙에 따라 실시하는 것이 운동의 효과를 가져올 수 있다. 운동을 실시하기 위해서는 운동강도, 빈도, 기간, 형태 등의 운동 처방 요소를 고려하여야 한다. 또한 장애의 특성을 이해하고 운동을 계획하여야 한다.



Ⅰ. 서 론


오늘날 특별한 신체적 조건에 영향을 미치지 않는 한 규칙적인 운동이 모든 사람의 건강에 유익하다고 하는 것은 알려져 있는 사실이다. 그럼에도 불구하고 장애를 가진 사람들에게 있어서 일상적인 신체활동은 이동의 문제, 시설의 문제, 지식의 부족, 지도자의 부족, 재정적인 여건 등으로 인하여 운동을 건강유지 수단으로 중요하게 생각하지 않는 경향이 있다. 지난 사반세기동안 의학과 과학의 발전은 신체적인 장애가 있는 사람들의 수명을 연장시켜 사회참여를 높이는데 크게 기여하고 있다. 30여년전만 하더라도 장애를 가진 사람들의 주요 사망원인이었던 폐렴, 결핵, 요도감염, 신장실환 등은 의학의 발달로 오늘날은 크게 문제시되지 않는 질환이 되고 있다(Rimmer, 1994).
장애로 인하여 활동능력의 저하를 가져오면 많은 사람들은 좌업생활을 하게 되고 재활운동을 지속적으로 실행하지 않는 한 작업능력(physical work capacity)의 감소를 필연적으로 야기하게 되며(Gass and Camp, 1979), 약간의 일상적인 활동을 제외하고는 유산소성 능력을 향상시킬만한 심박수를 증가시키는 활동을 실행하지 못하므로 체력이 저하되고(Hjeltnes & Vokac, 1979), 재활이 되었다고 하더라도 일상생활의 활동량 정도로는 심폐기능에 자극을 줄만한 운동량에 도달하지 못하기때문에 운동효과를 얻을 수 없다(Weiss & Beck, 1973).
