유치원의 유․초등 연계교육 운영 현황과 교사들이 인식한 어려움 (A study on the status and early childhood teachers’ difficulties of articulated education between kindergarten and elementary school)

초록

본 연구의 목적은 유치원 만5세반 교사가 유․초등 연계교육을 어떻게 계획, 실행, 평가하는지 운영현황과 교사의 어려움을 파악함으로써 유․초등 연계교육에 대한 개선방안을 제시하는데 있다. 이를 위해 유치원 만5세반 교사 264명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하고 그 중 5명을 대상으로 심층면담을 실시하였다. 연구결과, 첫째 계획 시 교사들은 주로 누리과정 및 교사용 지도서에서 정보를 얻었고 공립유치원은 유아의 기본생활습관과 기초학습능력에, 사립유치원은 기본생활습관에 가장 중점을 두었다. 실행은 사립유치원이 주로 2학기에, 공립유치원은 연중 실행하였고, 두 기관 모두 초등학교 방문하기의 활동을 가장 많이 실행하였으며 초등학교와 연계교육을 실행하는 교수계획자 역할을 상대적으로 낮게 실행하였다. 평가 현황은 과반수이상의 공사립유치원에서 평가를 실시하지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 교사들이 연계교육을 운영하면서 직면하는 어려움은 초등교육과정과 취학 전 유아의 성취수준에 대한 교사의 이해 부족, 교사지도서와 활동자료 부족, 학부모의 요구에 밀려하는 학습지도의 갈등, 초등학교의 비협조적 태도와 행정체계 미비, 계획·실행·평가의 연쇄적 악순환 등에 의한 것이었다.

영어초록

The purpose of this study is examine the status and early childhood teachers’ difficulties of articulated education between kindergarten and elementary school. A total of 264 kindergarten teachers responded to the questionnaire and 5 teachers participated in in-depth interviews. The findings of this study were as following. First, the teachers acquired information from the Nuri curriculum and teacher's manuals when mapping out plans for articulated education. The public kindergartens put the most weight on basic life habits and learning capabilities, and the private kindergartens placed the most importance on basic life habits. As for the implementation of the articulated education, the private kindergartens offered it in the second semester, and the public kindergartens provided it throughout the year. Paying a visit to an elementary school was the common activity and the role performance as instructional planners was relatively less prevailing in both public and private kindergartens. Concerning evaluation, no evaluation on the articulated education was carried out in the majority of the public and private kindergartens. Second, the difficulties that the teachers faced, while offering the articulated education, were attributed to the following: Teacher’s lack of understanding on elementary school curriculums and achievement criteria required for 5-year-old children, a shortage of teacher's manuals and activity materials, conflicts in pursuing learning guidance while trying to meet the parents’ needs, the uncooperative attitude and inadequate administrative systems of the elementary schools, and continuing vicious circles of planning, implementation, and evaluation.
