한국 지역여성사 연구의 특성과 과제 (Retrospect and Prospect on the Regional Women’s History of Korea)

초록

Almost ten books on the regional women’s history of Korea have been published until today. As two of them contain the general history of Korean women, the others mainly cover the modern history of Korean women’s lives for the last fifty years. Academic theses and university papers including specific themes of this field were also found. It is interesting that certain characteristics of these studies have been noticed as follows: While the majority of the books were published in collaboration with other authors or group studies, articles on this field were written by individual studies. Most of the books were published by financial support of self government. Besides, research cooperation among regions has been activated, which is to exchange specialists from other regions to a region for regional women’s history since human resources for researching for each region is insufficient. It is believed to be one of big reasons to occur the above mentioned problem that the academic circles could not yet act up to social requirements caused by increasing women’s post and their rights.The studies of the regional women’s history do not yet have its own historical interpretation so that the published books can not show its locality and the division of the epoch according to women’s activities. To overcome the mentioned difficulties, we need to accumulate academic works about regional history, gender history and the history of the routine life.Therefore, they influence one another so much that we need to find out the original theory of the regional women’s history, definition of the regional women’s history, its own development, and the grasping of the local characters.
