다문화교육에 대한 특수교사의 인식 연구 (Research on the Special Teacher's Recognition on the Multicultural Education)

초록

본 연구는 특수교사가 인식하는 다문화교육의 필요성과 실행 의지를 살펴봄으로써 교육현장의 다문화교육에 대한 내적 충실성을 도모하기 위한 접근방법을 찾는데 있다. 연구의 참여자는 목적표집을 통해 특수교사 12명을 선정하였으며, 이들에게 반구조화 된 면담을 3차에 걸쳐 실시하였다.
연구의 결과 첫째, 특수교사는 다문화에 대한 개념‧지식은 극히 제한적이라고 자평하고 있으며, 다문화교육의 개념을 차이에 대한 이해, 다양성 이해, 배려와 포용 교육, 반편견 교육, 세계화 교육으로 인식하고 있다. 둘째, 특수교사는 장애아동을 포함하는 모든 아동의 개별적 요구에 따른 적절한 지원으로 교육적 성과를 증대시키기 위해 다문화교육의 필요성을 인식하고 있다. 셋째. 특수교사는 다문화가정 장애아동의 이해와 지원을 돕고 다문화교육의 필요성과 전문성 강화를 위한 교사교육의 중요성을 인식하고 다문화교육을 전담하여 실행하고자 하는 의지를 나타내었다. 넷째, 특수교사가 다문화교육을 전담하게 되면 다문화와 장애를 동일시하게 되어 다문화가정 아동에게 불필요한 오명을 씌울 수 있고 전문성 부재에 대한 우려가 있다. 따라서 특수교사가 다문화교육을 전담하여 실행 할 수 있는 여건을 마련할 필요가 있다.

영어초록

This study is to find out the needs and willingness of implementation of multicultural education from the viewpoint of the special teachers specializing in the education for multicultural children in order to have the approach to have better education method. For the purpose of the research, the issues for research are designated as follows. First, how do the special teachers recognize the concept and knowledge of multicultural education? Second, how do the special teachers feel on the need of multicultural education? Third, how about the special teacher's willingness for the multicultural education? Fourth, what do the special teachers think are the problems in multicultural education and ways for improvement?12 special teachers for specializing in the multicultural education were selected for the study as subjects and 3 group interviews were conducted.
The results of study are as follows. First, the special teachers get the multiculture education contents from mass media rather than actively finding out from various sources and they recognize that their concept and knowledge of the multicultural education are limited. Second, the special teachers recognize that the education for the understanding the multicultural family is needed to improve the performance of education and the education shall be supported by the proper support according to the individual needs of each child including the disabled children. Third, the special teachers recognize the importance of the role of the special teachers in understanding and supporting the disabled children from multicultural families and show their willingness to contribute to the education. Fourth, if the special teachers conduct the multicultural education only, people may confuse that the multicultural children are the same as the disabled one. So, it is necessary to have the system in which the special teacher for the multicultural education focuses on the related education only.
