(World’s most innovative companies) 1위에 뽑혔다.

A report onStock Option CompensationContentsIntroductionpage 2General information about Stock Option Compensationpage 3-6Incentivespage 3Disadvantagespage 3-4Proposed changespage 4-5Cost for the Companypage 5-6Expensing Executive Stock Options?Page 6Referencespage 7IntroductionIt is common use that executives get their compensation in two parts, a fixed (monthly) salary and a variable part depending on the firm’s performance. In this report we will provide general information about stock option remuneration and we will discuss the specific Sally Jameson case. The main part of this report consists of general information about stock option compensation. Initially, we will deal with the incentives and the disadvantages of stock option compensation, subsequently two possible improvements in compensation policy will be argued and finally the cost for the company and a change in accounting principles are discussed. We want to conclude this introduction by referring to the example of stock optiices, linking compensation to this benchmark is natural.’ When you turn the story around and look at the case when executives are only paid a fixed monthly fee, managers will in the first instance be concerned to preserve their jobs and more likely to accept deals that may not be in the best interest of the shareholders (The Economist, 6/3/2006). For more comprehensible incentives of stock option compensation, Agliardi and Andergassen (2005) is a good reference.Disadvantages of stock option compensationThe original theory of a higher incentive to increase the stock price does not hold without any reserves anymore. In recent articles the disadvantages of stock option compensation are discussed. Brooks (2006) states that share options actually cause the management objectives to diverge from those of the shareholders. Option bonuses are short-term bonuses, the executives are looking forward to increase the stock price as soon as possible, whether shareholders are mostly long-term investortivation to manipulate the underlying stock price to give them a profit on their options even if the true value of the underlying stock price is below the strike price on their options. The options give them the incentive to do whatever it may take, whether by releasing information, altering accounting methods, or other creative ideas to change the market price of the stock so that it gives them a sufficient profit on their options upon execution.Proposed changes in compensation packageBy now, it should be clear that a variable part in the compensation of executives is indispensable. But as it turned out, stock option compensation only brings along some problems. We come up with two solutions:Companies should consider compensation based on performance related measures unrelated to the value of the firm’s equity. These measures can include fast rates of promotion and wage increases and also year-end bonuses that are related to the overall performance of the company and the individual emduring the late 1990s, stock options experienced a significant increase in popularity when the stock market boom provided enormous gains to their holders. The stock options represent a number of costs and benefits for the companies that issue them. For a company, the initial cost of issuing options is zero (or relatively close to it depending upon fees related to option issuance and initial development of stock options plans). There actually is an initial benefit from the saved money that otherwise would have been distributed to executives or lower-level employees in the form of signing bonuses and other initial compensation outlays. Since employment costs are often considerable, it can be argued that the cash that is saved actually goes a long way in terms of providing the company with cash that can be used for alternative investments or other means that promote the overall growth of the company. However, there is more to the story than the initial cost of the stock options. The issuanc premium created by the higher market price.Expensing of executive stock optionsA little bit out of the core subject of this report, but important to mention, is the present change in the way of accounting of executive stock options. The Financial Accounting Standard’s Board wants to require companies to expense their executive stock options, which makes the “invisible” compensation of executives much more visible and controversial. General Electric, AT& T, Citigroup, Amazon.com, and Ford are some of the companies who expense their stock options already (Deshmukh et al, 2004). In a later article of Deshmukh et al (2006) it is proved that there is a greater likelihood of options expensing for firms with greater transparency and a closer alignment of interests between managers and shareholders. The article provides indirect evidence that expensing is more likely in firms that practice good corporate governance.ReferencesAgliardi, E; Andergassen, R (2005), Incentives of Stock Option Based 2 -

(Peking Opera)
Music behind Chinese OperaIntroduction(1) Why Chinese Opera?Chinese Opera was started in the late 19th centuries and originated from Anhui and Hubei opera. Under the influences of other opera, Peking Opera became to be the national form not only in the mainland China, but also in the other places such as Hong Kong and the United States. In May, 2001 UNESCO declared Kun Opera one of the 19 masterpieces of the oral and intangible heritage of humanity. After the success of Kun Opera outside of China, Peking opera and Kun opera had been performed together and both stand for national opera status. One of the reason why Peking and Kun Opera and Chinese music became to be famous in the world was the movie, Farewell My Concubine (覇王別姬, 1993) directed by Kaige Chen. The performance in the movie by the people who were borne with pain moved people from the bottom of heart as it showed the sorrow of Chinese people especially in contemporary times. Actor’s tear behind the mask was the symbol of Chintarted the performance with the youth team in Beijing.Music insideChina Jing(Peking) and Kun Performance was performed in the local community hall, thus the sound and speaker system were not good enough. The stage was too narrow and there was no enough space for the orchestra. In this situation, the personal understanding about the music inside the opera could be wrong.(1) InstrumentsMusic orchestras sit right beside the stage and play music due to the play. It is consisted of 5 players including the leader. One leader is conducting the music and other bands follow the chief rhythm. They use the traditional Chinese instruments and make a glorious harmony.Music inside Peking and Kun opera is unbelievably fast. Jing Hu and Pi Pa in the middle of orchestra lead the music and their high tone and harmonious rhythms make people excited and get involved in the opera. Especially vibration of Pi Pa’s sound stands for how the actor or actress feels about at that moment. The performer showed the he unbalanced scene makes the audiences confused and concentrated to avoid the scene from the mind. This is the moment when the role of actors and actresses is the most important during the play.(2) SingingChinese language is the musical language itself. All the words have its own intonation and the flow of intonation is so important in the sentence. Especially rhyme at the end of phrase is one of the important factors in the song and poem. Thus, every single word in the opera was chosen carefully to match the flow. This characteristic of Chinese language makes the opera more fruitful with the sound. The actors and actress were singing with the high tone during the play. The high tone voice makes a perfect harmony with the instrument, Jing Hu. Jing Hu’s vibration helps the voice go further and higher more and the voice is also making the orchestra’s sound united. On the other side, the background music sounds like happy all the time, the high tone voice is more close to unhappy. Howeveret the person with the pain inside play the role to express the sadness more efficiently.Out of musicAudiencesIn the western style, the role of audiences is to keep quiet on the seat with the formal suit and handclaps at the end of the stage. However in the Chinese opera, people looked like breathing together with the actors, actresses and the orchestra. The leader of the orchestra was standing to face the audiences and handle the music due to the feedback from the audiences. It seems that he was even changing the plot when the feedback was unexpected. It also seems that actors and actresses were performing together with the audiences. When the actors and actresses were singing first, the audiences followed the refrain. Sometimes they sang rhymes together and actors and actresses were also showing more performances when the feedback was really good.MakeupThe expression and makeup are playing important roles in the Chinese opera. The colors on the face were all different and they all stanonAlthough the 2:30 running time was such a short time to experience whole the Chinese opera and music, the way of Chinese people’s life and idea was totally shown in the Chinese opera. China Jing(Peking) and Kun Performance is simply the total entertainment of music and story. Furthermore the actors and actresses showed everything about their abilities such as singing and dancing.Chinese classical story with the glitter faces and music has a strong plot and let people share the mind about the Asian culture. People found another pleasure different from the book. The story was always finished undone or ended with the missing of some episodes, which meant that the rest part of the story would be covered by the audience creativity. The only thing about I felt impatient was that the stage was so small and the equipments at the stage were so poor to show 100% performance. The range of actors’ movement was so limited and it sometimes looked dangerous. Especially in the scene of Sun Wukong’s j 4

Doing Business in ChinaLong term negotiationChinese people never shows their final cardsV. Chinese legal systemThe failure of GiantCorruptionVI. ConclusionVII. ReferencesI. IntroBackgroundThe main reason why the writer visited Nottingham Univ. was that he wanted to see how Europeans and British people see and think China. Since he studied Chinese studies in Korea as well as business, his major. He had some chances to meet Chinese lecturers in Nottingham and students who studied Chinese studies. He also got lectures about Sinology and had debated with British students about China. Especially in the lased, they got back their confidences and started to be proud of themselves and their country. After special events such as WTO entry and success in holding 2008 Olympics, they thought that they could have a power to influence the world and even control the world. This is, so called, the re-rise of Sino-centralism. They emphasize their own traditional value and some could be hardly found outside China. The first step to research business conditions in China is to understand Chinese unique concepts.Guanxi – the connectionGuanxi means interpersonal relationship. People make a network based on the side horizontal and vertical side on the Chinese society. When people make friends at the school or bloody bondage with family, it is called a horizontal relationship. On the other side, people can work at a kind of working units, Danwei in Chinese, or meet people on the business. It is a vertical relationship. China, one of the collectivistic countries, has its tradition of Confucianism and Gua have needed grouping and connection to survive in the rat race. Sometimes it brings the irrational result and corruption when participants have Paixi during the negotiation.Under the traditional value, Confucianism, people give big weight on the group they belong to. It is said that the group they belong to is one of the highest value they protect. They even believe that they can sacrifice themselves for the group. Historically China used to be divided and the other cities were their cruel enemies.III. Politics and BusinessShanghai Bang and Qinghua Bang – understanding the government cabinetChina is the country managed by one party, CCP – China Communist Party- and political power is much stronger than general expectation. They make a development plan which involves multinational companies and admit the joint-venture with local companies and foreign companies. They sometimes change the law to provide better business conditions to foreign companies. The second step to understand busineof China. They actually support the great plan of west development. The business people, as a perspective of outside, should take a balance to view politics between Shanhai Bang and Tsinghua Bang. Extremely thinking regardless of politics, an apolitical view, can bring disinterest from the administration. However supporting only one side of Paixi could bring the bloody counter-attack of outside in the future. Why the politics play a great role in Business? Most of Chinese companies have been established as state-owned companies under the communist society. Still advisory boards are consisted of people from CCP though they are private-owned companies and the connection between local companies and CCP is tight. Chinese society is wholly dominated by CCP anywhere in China even in the university. Therefore more than one person, at least, could be found in the business negotiation table. To Find out the secretary of CCP, so called Yibashou in Chinese, as soon as possible is the key not to wastcal companies who produced the fake stuffs in China at the court. Though it could be an international big issue, Louis Vuitton gave up to file a complaint again because they didn’t want to be a public enemy against Chinese government and people. That is to say, they are afraid of losing the world’s biggest market.People can find fake Samsung Mobiles and Paramount pirate DVDs on the street but the companies seem to prove them to sell their goods. China is the country so called controlled under not law, but the party, CCP. Strong competition among foreign companies gives the government and party power to dominate them as their own way. Chinese government raises local companies and protects them from outsides. The best way to win against others in the Chinese market is to ignore some disadvantages from local companies and to give up going to the court. Actually to sue in the court looks so rude and aggressive in the perspective of Asians not only in China. The company with huge money to hi :

ReferencesPresent and future of New Media in ChinaI. IntroductionThe way to measure the portion of media industry in one country is measuring by the total quantity of advertisement. The advertisement industry was measured in 2005 as 126.4 billion RMB, 8.5 billion GBP, including 913,800 employments and growing by 17.2% comparing to the year of 2004. Advertisement industry is still 30% of Japanese Media Industry but in China is to cultivate Guanxi with high officials. Guanxi means interpersonal relationship. China, one of the collectivistic countries, has its tradition of Confucianism and Guanxi had a great role in Chinese society. The news corporation who has world wide satellite channels such as Star TV, Fox TV and the biggest movie dealer, 21 Century Fox maintained the high Guanxi and could get into China. Rupert Murdoch who is the owner of the News Corporation met the sons and brothers of Deng Xiao Ping, the former secretary of China and even hired them as director boards in the joint-venture company.the failure of foreign media’s strategy (Phoenix TV the web is more likely to be direct on time. It is almost closed to the real time both posting and reading. All the people who accessed the website can read the article till the webmaster edits it. The direct connection, in addition, between senders and receivers brings the feedback and mutual communication. This freshness threatens the Chinese government. What if they write and publish the article about criticising the government? They simply could block the newspaper and arrest the writers to the jail in the past as they cover the early morning newspaper. As the distance between writers & readers, criticisers and receivers, in other words, is closer and closer, it would be much harder for government to censor the news. The way that the Chinese government chose is to block the main source where they have possibilities to contain the contents against Chinese government or society, such as the freedom of human rights and sexual contents. Actually the Chinese government banned the BBC web on a private blog has same weight with it on the news paper. The other reason is RSS, which could be translated into RDF Site Summary', 'Really Simple Syndication', 'Rich Site Summary’. When the web site updates its contents, it sends information to the senders who want automatically though they don not have to visit the web site. This technology brings bloggers can be communicating with each other through the web.According to the research of Xinhua Media Agency, 36.8million blogs in China are on operation, which means 15% of total internet users (approximately 110 million) have their own blogs. They besides expect that blogs would be doubled at the end of the year. It simply shows how Chinese people have passion about blogs.Chinese government kept on closing unauthorized blogs and let major portal sites have self-censorship. Microsoft actually closed the blog of Zhao Jink, aka Michael Anti who criticised the Chinese government about firing the top editors of Beijing Daily News. Most off total potion of media industry in China, which is the 4th biggest media in China. Chinese characteristics, of course, are shaped well and good-looking. However a lot of people fancy listening to Chinese languages. Since Chinese language, one of the most rhythmical languages in the world, is so fit to the radio media as music and talking. As the price of flash memory and hard disk drive is falling and falling, people easily own the high capacity MP3 players. In other words, they can store single music and CDs as much as possible, besides they have spare spaces to enjoy something such as audio books and a peer broadcasting. The peer broadcasting is produced by personal computers easily and can be shared easily through the web or peer to peer networks.People can speak any words what they want. The cost of equipments like sound cards and microphone is going down and down and there are huge free softwares on the web to produce the own broadcasting. It is so hard for Chinese government to c
