I arrived y'day morning.Didn't do much Y'day I just walked around the city and did some shopping. My hostel's in a good location right in the citycentre.I thought it would be really strange being in A multi-cultural city/country after being in Korea for the past yearbut it's not. And already I have spoke some korean. There are many korean people in this area, just walking around Ican hear korean......I miss Korea!!!!!Today I'm gonna go to the Queensland Museum and walk around the botanical gardens. i may even go on the river on thecity jet/cat(?) Tonight I wanna explore chinatown....hopefully get some korean food.So far so good, and I'm quite enjoying being able to speak to people without thwere being any language/communication probs!Well over and out for now.PS; Just wanted to thankyou for being there on friday night. Osaka tourOsaka CastleConstruction commenced in 1583 on the former site of the Ishiyama Honganji Temple, a stronghold of warrior priests which had been lost to fire three years earlier in a war with Nobunaga Oda (1534-1582), another of the three great medieval warlords and Hideyoshi's former commander. Hideyoshi intended the castle to become the center of a new, unified Japan under his rule.It took 60,000 laborers a year and a half to complete the castle's keep and tower. Hideyoshi, who had proclaimed himself the successor of Nobunaga Oda, modeled the castle after Nobunaga's Azuchi Castle, except on a much grander and more imposing scale, one that would allow him to flaunt his unprecedented wealth. Held on July 24 and 25 every year, the festival os dedicated to the Oska Temmangy Shrine, and is comprised of two days of festivals and events that draw thousands of participants and well over a million spectators.The festival has been celebrated for over 1000 years. As the newly created Velfarre opens, though, Roppongi is prospering like before.EbisuEbisu is the name of a famous Japanese beer. Atore Ebisu Station opened in October of 1997. There are many interesting restaurants and shops around the station. To the southeast you will find Ebisu Garden Place, which was the site of a beer factory. It is a 5 minute walk from the station. You will also see Tokyo Photoeated 6 snow statues. At the time, snow statue exhibits and a Carnival were held, accommodating more than 50 thousand people. Since that time, it has taken place every year as a winter event. In 1953, a 15m giant snow statue named Showu was constructed for the very first time. In 1955, Jietai (an Army unit) participated in sculpting the ice statue. After 2500 people participated in the 10th annual sculpture competition in 1959, it appeared on the TV and in newspapers. It soon became crowded with many people and became the Snow Festival of Japan in Sapporo. In 1965, the Makomanai Facility was built, and in 1972 the Winter Olympics were held in Sapporo. It was known to the world by its theme, "Welcome to Sapporo". After 1974, snow sculptures were made in Simyang China, Alberta Canada, Mynhan Germany, Sydney Australia, and Portland, all of which were originated in Sapporo and were being developed as a international event. (Wa-bar concept)2. 고객이 문을 열고 들어오게 만들어야 한다.와바만의 독특한 인테리어 구조에서 가장 눈길을 끄는 것은 바로 가게의 외벽 2~3면 전체가 접이식 유리문으로 되어있다는 것이다. 이 유리문은 굳이 열지 않아도 내부가 훤히 비추어져 있으며 또한 그냥 지나친다 하더라도 독특함에 이끌려 호기심을 가지고 “꼭 한번 와바야 겠다”는 가지게 되는 것이다. 실제로 지나가다 문이 정말 열려 있는지 없는지를 확인해보는 사람들도 있었으며 심지어 열려있는 문 안에 놓인 테이블의 휴지를 살짝 가져가 보고는 즐거워하는 등 사람들의 호기심 끌기의 매우 성공적인 방법이라 할 수 있다.3. 숨겨진 판매전략으로 기분좋은 지출을 의도한다.-와바의 기본안주 메뉴는 “새우깡”사람들은 깔끔함과 청량감을 쫒아 맥주집을 찾게 된다. 그런데 기본 안주로 새우깡이 세팅된다면그 짭자롬한 맛으로 하여금 사람들은 시원하고 깔끔한 맥주를 들이키게 되고 깔깔한 과자의 감촉은 그들로 하여금 음료를 더욱 마시고 싶은 갈증을 느끼게 만든다. 맥주의 맛에 전혀 대비되는 새우깡은 같은 맥주의 맛을 한층 더 돋보이게 만들 수 있는 것이다. 요즘은 새우깡 외에도 다른 기본안주를 세팅하는 점포가 있으나 이는 다 맥주의 맛을 고려한 것들로만 사용하고 있으며 여러 기본안주를 많이 주면 사람들이 본 안주를 주문하지 않는 경우가 생기므로 이를 염두해 보았을 때에도 새우깡은 맥주가게의 술 판매를 높여주는 최고의 기본안주가 되는것이다..-시끄러운 음악, 목소리를 높여라와바는 가게 안에 여러개의 스피커가 달려있어 음악 사운드의 수준이 매우 높은 동시에 골고루 좋은 사운드를 전달할 수 있다. 이렇게 좋은 사운드의 볼륨을 살짝 높여 조금은 시끄러운 듯한 가게의 음악소리는 사람들로 하여금 자신의 말을 같이 있는 사람들에게 전달하기 위해 목소리를 높이게 만들고 기분 좋은 음악에 섞어 목청껏 떠들다보면 맥주에 대한 갈증을 더 하게 만들며 또한 쉽게 배가 부르는 것을 막아 안주와 맥주의 판매 또한 늘릴 수 있다.-아이스 바(ICE BAR)로 흥미유발과 높은 단가의 수입맥주를 뽑아먹도록 유인한다.세계 맥주 전문점이라고 해서 단지 메뉴판에 낯선 이름의 비싼 갖가지 맥주들이 글자로서 열거 된 것만 구경할 수 있다면 누가 세계맥주전문점을 찾으며 그들의 호기심을 어떻게 충족 시켜줄 수 있다는 맥주들을 직접 보고 만질 수 있으며 특이하고 독특한 병이나 술의 색깔에 호기심을 느끼고 바로 꺼내어서 뚜껑을 따 바로 마실 수 있다. 국산 맥주에 비해 수입맥주이기 때문에 가격이 많이 차이 나는 것을 메뉴판에서 눈으로 확인한다면 쉽게 손이가기는 어려울 것이다. 그러나 직접 눈으로 보고 그 독특함에 매료된다면 사람들은 거리낌 없이 선택할 수 있으며 일일이 가격을 확인할 수 없는 것 또한 아이스바가 비싼 수입맥주를 판매할 수 있는 손쉬운 방법이기도 하다.4.. 다시 찾고 싶도록 만들어라.- “명예의 전당” 에 오르고 싶다.한번 온 손님을 다시 오게 만드는 것보다 새로운 손님을 가게로 오게 하는 비용이 훨씬 크다고 수업시간에 들은 바가 있다. 그만큼 가게를 이용했던 손님을 다시 오게끔 하는 것이 중요한 것이다. 와바에서는 화려한 조명이 비추고 형형색색의 길쭉한 아크릴 통들이 제각각 이름표를 단 채 줄지어 세워져 한 벽면을 차지하고 있다. 이것은 “명예의 전당” 이라고 불리우는 데 고객이 마신 맥주 병뚜껑을 30 센티 정도의 길이의 병에 다 채우면 명예의 전당 고객에 명단이 올려진다. 여기에 해당하는 고객은 평생동안 무료 안주를 하루에 한 개씩 먹을 수 있다. 이 통에 이름표를 단 고객들은 가게에 자신의 이름이 적힌 무언가가 언제나 준비되어 있다는 것에 만족을 느끼며 올 때마다 조금씩 늘어가는 병뚜껑과 또한 한 통을 끝까지 채워내야 한다는 의무감 내지는 책임감마져 재미와 호기심에 보태어져 자꾸자꾸 가게를 찾게 만들 게 된다. 또한 이름표에는 본인의 생일과 연락처가 적혀있는데 직원이 손님의 생일을 챙겨 핸드폰 메시지를 보내는 일 또한 손님을 기분좋게 만들며 생일날 친구들과 가게를 찾게 만드는 중요한 요인이 된다.-다양한 이벤트로 깊은 감명을 준다.와바에서는 바텐더가 매우 중요한 역할을 한다. 단지 칵테일을 만들고 손님과 얘기를 주고 받을 뿐 아니라 갖가지 쇼와 같은 볼거리, 그리고 마술 등을 이용하여 손님을 가게와 친근하게 만들 고객을 가게의 친구로 만들어 와바를 로 해서 가게에 대한 잊혀지지 않는 기억을 만들고 다시 생각날 수 있게 만들어 준다.-와바는 진짜 세계맥주 전문점일반 호프집들이 겨울장사가 여름 장사의 절반도 안되는 것과는 달리 와바는 성 비수기 구분이 따로 없다는게 와바의 큰 자랑중의 하나이다. 그렇다면 와바는 뭐가 다를 까. 일단 세계맥주 전문점 답게 맥주 종류가 많다는 게 경쟁력이다. 세계 30개국의 맥주 120여 종류가 있다. 보통 20~30종이 고작인 타 세계 맥주점과 차별화 되는 점이다. 매출액의 비중을 보면 외국 맥주 45%, 국산맥주 40%, 양주 10%, 와인 5% 등이다. 새롭고 낯선 술이 많은 만큼 와바의 직원들은 각 술에대한 자세한 정보 (맛, 알코올 도수, 알맞은 잔에 따라 마시는 방법 ) 등을 숙지해 손님들에게 자세히 전달 한다. 단지 새로운 맥주에 대한 호기심 뿐만 아니라 요즘과 같이 해외로 다녀오는 사람들이 많은 시기에 해외에서 자신이 여행중에, 혹은 연수중에 마셨던 술을 한국에서 다시 만나본다는 것은 여간 반가운 일이 아닐 것이며 이는 나역시 경험 해 보았고 내가 와바에서 일을 하는 동안 고객을 통해 확인한 바 있다.5. 되도록 모든 것을 매뉴얼화 하라.이는 가게 내의 모든 과정을 표준화 하라는 것이다. 외식업은 늘 한결 같은 맛과 서비스를 제공해야 고객의 신뢰를 얻을 수 있으나 경영자의 컨디션이 좋을 때는 맛과 서비스가 좋지만 컨디션이 나쁠 때는 달라지는 가게들과는 달리 어떤 상황에서도 고객을 즐겁게 할 수 있는 기반을 갖춰둬야 한다는 것이다. 이러한 매뉴얼화는 비단 음식 조리법만을 말하는 것이 아니라 식기나 물품, 복장, 시간대별 주력 업무는 물론 고객 응대방법까지도 포함한다. 고객 식탁에서 컵이 깨졌다고 가정해 볼 때에 “다친데는 없느냐”고 물은 후 신속하게 수습을 하는 것과 “걸레 갖고 와”하며 허둥대며 고객을 미안하게 하는 것은 엄청난 차이가 있다. 와바의 직원은 가게에서 하루 일과를 시작하기 전 매니져와 주방을 포함한 모든 직원들과의 오리엔테이션을 함으로써 이와 같은 이다.
