Co-housing, which is the abbreviated form of the word "cooperative housing", is a brand new style of house. It first started to be built in Denmark. Co-housing is an adequate place for the modern people as it redefined the green areas differently. It keeps the residents` lives private and also cultivates residents` community sentiment. Co-housing would be enough to be built if at least 10 people are gathered. After they contract with each other, they find a place where they want to build their houses. They find a construction company to erect their residence buildings. After it is built, people who had contracted together move to that place and live as neighbors. The first co-housing was built in Sibeliuspachen, which is 8 kilometers away from Copenhagen, and 230 households live there. In addition to this, 107 households contracted to build their houses connected to the place. As co-housing keeps each households` privacy and security together, it is becoming more and more popular. The most distinctive feature of the co-housing is that all the balconies of their houses are built facing the center of their community residence. From their houses, they can easily watch what happens in their community. As they can watch the safe guard of their co-housing from their home, they also feel safety. According to a research, co-housing has 60% less criminal rates than the other areas.
