영어로 쓴 촛불집회를 반대하는 이유

I’m against candlelight rally.Because we’ve already let the government know our opinion.The Korean government is trying to renegotiating US beef imports.But people haven’t stopped protest.I think we should be interested in Korean economy which is getting worse.People are suffering from skyrocketing oil price and inflation.Many workers and students are on the street night after night.They can’t work or study hard during the day time.Also hotels, restaurants around city hall have difficulties running their business normally.Because protesters make lots of noise and they are blocking the road.So many customers have cancelled their services.That might affect Korean economy badly.Everyone must go back to their own position.Continuing candlelight rally is waste of time, waste of money, and waste of our energy.Enough is enough.Now, it’s time to stop candlelight rally and make effort to overcome crisis of economy together.That’s all I want to say.

Upper intermediate journalLee Hyesun (Rachel)It was very difficult for people to study and work 50 years ago in Korea. Because at that times, Korea just finished a war with North Korea. That war devastated our land. People made effort to overcome that situation. Most of the people worked in a farm. Agriculture was most important industry 50 years ago. People used to use cows when they plowed fields. As there weren’t machine, cows were main power. However, even though people worked hard all day long, they wouldn’t have much harvesting. And in case of business, people would work very inefficiently. For example, they only used post service in order to transmit documents. Besides, they would work in only Korea. Circumstances of study were also not good. Students would study with 60 classmates in a classroom and used to be short of materials. Due to a dark room, some students would to study in lighting candles. So I heard that some students used to get their hair burned when they were dozing off.After spending hard time, Korea develops substantially. Nowadays machines replace many hard workings. Farmers don’t need cows for agriculture any more. And farmers can get much harvestings without many workers. They get help from not only machines but also chemistries. And we can eat fruits in the winter owing to greenhouse. Businesses have changed much. Officers are always using computers, fax machines, copy machines, telephones, and so on. They can see the news of world at the desk. And they can record many things by using cameras, copy machines, recorders and send e-mail within a few minutes. There are many global corporations. So people call another country’s workers and exchange e-mail, even go abroad for business. Study has changed, too. Students can study in a good circumstance. If they want to look for some information they can do that easily. Some students are studying abroad like me.These changes are led to by several causes. First, there is technological development. People can use convenient machines. So they don’t waste times any more to do something. And people can buy some products in a low price. Because technological development made producing in bulk possible. Second, there is development of transportations. Transportations help people to work and study conveniently. People can move to another place very quickly. That’s why working and studying environment changes, too. Third, there is information society. Nowadays most of the people have computers. Some of people said, a computer is the biggest invention in the world. A computer makes us quiet convenient. A computer gets many things to change. The internet with a computer helps to connect the global society.

Upper intermediate journal 2Lee Hyesun (Rachel)Nowadays the obesity is a very big problem. The obesity leads to heart attack, diabetes, high blood pressure. As many researches, fast food is a major culprit in causing obesity. So I’m going to write about fast food and obesity.we can see the obese people on the street very easily. When I came in Sydney first, it startled me. Even if I’ve heard that, there are many fat people in Australia. That was serious than I expected. In Korea case, there are not fat people long time ago. My mom said that when she was young, it’s hard to find fat people. But due to globalism, Korea people took western cultures. That’s why our frame is getting similar to western’s frame. Especially the number of overweight children increases sharply in my country. The obesity is a global problem. As an investigation, majority of the obese people love fast foods like burgers, pizzas, chickens. That shows us that fast foods make us plump. The trans fat contained in fast food causes obesity. Besides, there are many fast food outlets which tempt people on the street. When I walked from Central station to Circular quay station, I could see a number of fast food franchises. And those who are plump, fat, obese are eating fast food there.But actually attributing cause of obesity to only fast food is not reasonable. There are many causes which are lack of exercise, parent’s indifference, and hereditary facts. The advance in technology helps people to work readily and quickly. So they don’t need to move their body frequently. That leads to obesity. And there are many playthings like TVs, game machines, and computers. So the children don’t want to go out to play with their friends anymore. And parents should advise their children to eat nutritional food. But they aren’t doing. Children don’t know what food is good or bad. They eat fast food because it’s delicious. Parents should not allow kids to eat fast food much if they don’t want that their kids will be fat.Then, how can we deal with fast food problems? I think fast food is harmful to our health. So we should forbid companies to advertise them like tobacco, alcohol. We can’t stop people from eating fast food, but should obstruct fast food companies stimulate people. And government should make a law about fast food which is like decreasing fat and sodium, adding vegetable more.In conclusion, I found fast food unhealthful. We eat food to keep healthy body. Therefore we should not fast food which exerts on evil influence upon the health if you don’t want to be plump.
