  • Mona Lisa
The Mona Lisa is the most famous painting in the world, but we don’t know enough about this painting. Who painted it? What is the mystery of the Mona Lisa? Why is she smiling? Why did he choose her? Is it a mistake that she doesn’t have eyebrows? People have already had many questions about it. Mona Lisa has more mysteries than other paintings. People can think of Mona Lisa as the most mysteries painting among Leonardo da Vinci’s paintings because we don’t know much about it.The Mona Lisa was completed between 1503 and 1506 by Leonardo da Vinci. He was a painter, sculptor, architect, musician and inventor during the Renaissance period. He started painting in the 1500s. Mona Lisa was the first sitting portrait painted by Leonardo da Vinci. He used “technique”. Eyes and hands were painted with more details than other parts of the body .He used landscape as the background. The other technique was the mellow nature of technique. He used the pyramid type which is simple and calm in space ofhen people watch Mona Lisa, they will be silence and attractive because Leonardo da Vinci painted as much dark color hair, veil, and shadows. It contrasts with light space. Also, he used new method that didn’t draw the outlines where corners of the mouth and the eyes. The painting is overall on landscape which means feeling of calm.France king called Leonardo da Vinci to buy Mona Lisa. According to biography of Leonardo, Giorgio Vasari told about the title of the painting that Leonardo painted for Francesco del Giocondo the portrait of Mona Lisa. Why did Leonardo da Vinci draw Mona Lisa? Who was Mona Lisa? She was Lisa del Giocondo and 24~27 years old. She was a member of the Gherardini family and wife of wealthy silk merchant Francesco del Giocondo. Francesco del Giocondo asked to Leonardo da Vinci to draw the painting for their new home and celebration of second son’s birthday. Some art historians told that Leonardo da Vinci called acrobats and musicians to make her emotion comfortablently described as enigmatic and gentleness. If Leonardo da vinci draw just normal half-length portrait, he would draw with eyebrows. Mona Lisa doesn’t have eyebrows, and eyelashes. Is it Leonardo da Vinci’s mistake? Some art historians were separated. First, Leonardo da Vinci canceled eyebrows to have big forehead. Femininity, chubby chin, and big forehead were standard of aesthetics during renaissance period. Second, He died before the work was finished. He had drawn the painting for 3 years before the France king called him to buy the painting. Third, the painting was damaged while the king had the painting. These are still mysteries. In addition, why was Mona Lisa half-smiling? It means that idea of a link connecting humanity and nature by some art historians. After I had researched the painting, I was amazing. Mona Lisa was stole from thief on 21 August 1911. People couldn’t believe that never see the painting anymore because thief had the painting for 2 years. After 2 years, policing to damage. Mona Lisa lost near left elbow. Why do we lose treasure such as Mona Lisa? I felt we will stand by a lot of art.We have a lot of art such as sculptor, architect, music, and painting during Renaissance period. I didn’t know why a lot of people like Mona Lisa. I had thought it was a just painting before I researched the painting. I think Mona Lisa has special feature such as enigmatic expression, half-smiling, and unclear eyebrows. Because of these, I fell in art. Some paintings or sculpts included environment and trend from specific time such as Renaissance. However, Mona Lisa also included skill of painting, and trend. People are researching Mona Lisa because we didn’t get the answers for mysteries yet. When I was doing these papers, I was regrettable. I couldn’t see the real painting. I read articles on online and books. If I have to write a similar paper, I will go to museum or gallery to feel real expression. While I was researching information of Mona Lisa, I read imart is our property.Work CitedJeanna, Bryner. “25 Secrets of Mona Lisa Revealed.” Live Sience. (2007):n. page. Web. • 빈센트 반 고흐 자서전에 대한 감상문
I think that art is always around us after I learned a lot about the paintings in the art history survey class. The professor gave me a final paper for comparison and contrast in paintings. Before I chose a gallery or a museum for my final paper, I had thought which gallery or museum would give me surprise. Among many galleries and museums, I went to the Museum of Modern Art. Of course, I was curious about ancient art, but modern art tempted me. I went to the MOMA because of the starry night which is my favorite painting of Vincent Van Gogh. Also, I have heard a lot of time about Pablo Ruiz Picasso. Pablo’s paintings are located in MOMA. I was curious about who painted these paintings, so I researched on Vincent Van Gogh and Pablo Ruiz Picasso from books and the internet. It was interesting that paintings can reflect issues in society, the painter’s feelings, and even the painter’s relationship with other people.Vincent Van Gogh was born in 1853 in a Dutch village. His father, who was r, wrote a lot of letters to him. they helped to control his emotions, and taught him about a lot of painters at that time. He started to paint in 1880 at his brother’s request. He painted paintings which are famous now, such as the Starry Night and the Sunflowers. The Starry Night is his typical painting among many paintings. People who love art are attracted by the painting. I am also attracted by the painting because the painting has a mysterious charm. While I was watching the painting, I felt strange emotions, such as sorrow and stillness. The perspective of the painting is high level because I can see the house roofs of the village. The stars and moon were described as vortex. Some artists said that this expression influenced Vincent Van Gogh’s mental state. He who painted the painting was in a mental hospital. Why did he describe stars and moon as vortex? Didn’t he have other any expressions? We can’t know exactly, but it is fact that the expression emphasizes the charm of the panando when he was six-teen years old. The school where he lives was the country’s famous art school, but he didn’t like to stay there. Nevertheless, Pablo Ruiz Picasso was attracted by paintings of Diego Velazquez, Francisco Goya and Francisco Zubaran. Generally, Pablo Ruiz Picasso is a famous 20th century painter. He expressed cubism which is depicted by multitude perspective and shadows in his famous paintings. The cubism makes small ambiguous space between the multitude perspective and the background. Therefore, spectators are curious about these paintings when they watch. In Pablo Ruiz Picasso’s cubism paintings, The Les Demoiselles d’Avignon is typical of cubism. The Les Demoiselles d’Avignon is large oil painting of Pablo Ruiz Picasso. Curiously, he painted five nude female prostitutes in the painting. The Five nude female prostitutes are expressed by different depictions. For example, the two women’s faces are African masks while three women’s faces are Iberian. Iberia is Pablo Re their relationship. The Starry Night and the Les Demoiselles d’Avignon were painted by different colors. Nevertheless, these paintings were painted with similar expressions, such as stillness and silence. The painters expressed their feelings in paintings. Vincent Van Gogh was in mental hospital while he was painting the Starry Night. At that time, Vincent Van Gogh had a mental problem, so some artists said that the vortexes which were in the Starry Night were Vincent Van Gogh’s feelings. While Pablo Ruiz Picasso was painting the Les Demoiselles d’Avignon, he was having mental and social problems. Before he painted the Les Demoiselles d’Avignon, he had a lot of problems such as Carlos’s suicide. Carlos was Picasso’s friend. A lot of artists painted while they were having problems. As such, the paintings were influenced by their feelings, social problems and even relationships. Although these paintings which are the Starry Night and the Les Demoiselles d’Avignon express similar feelingt I didn’t want to write this final paper, the paintings still captured my heart. Beside the Starry Night and the Les Demoiselles d’Avignon, I was very interested in and curious about the other paintings, such as Frida Kahlo’s the portrait, Paul Cezanne’s the bather, and the Pop artist Andy Warhol. When I write art class papers, I always feel that art includes nature, society, and even government at that time. Actually, I went to a lot of museums, orchestra concerts, and exhibitions when I was young. My parents sent me even if I didn’t want to, but I think that they have influenced on my life. When I wrote this final paper, I got a quote for my heart. The quote is “art is the elimination of the unnecessary” by Pablo Ruiz Picasso. Even if someone doesn’t like art, art is around him.Bibliography/Works citedNicolas, Pioch. “Gogh, Vincent van.” WebMuseum, Paris.(2002)n. page. Web.
