Part2: The “Research” EssayWe live in a wonderfully complex universe, and we are curious about it by nature, time and again we have wondered why are we here and how are we here? Where did we and the world come from? What is world made of? It is our privilege to live in a time when enormous progress has been made towards finding some of answers. String theory is our most recent attempt to answer the questions. I’d like to explain aspects of String theory in an elementary fashion, such that is becomes more comprehensible that knowledge of general mechanism in physics. String theory is a theory that tries to give a unified framework to the whole of physics. It is one of the most wonderful and elaborate physical theories hitherto invented, and it is worth trying to convey it to a larger audience.String theory is a model of fundamental physics whose building blocks are one-dimensional extended objects (strings) rather than the zero-dimensional points (particles) that are the basis of the Stions, the building blocks of matter, and incorporate supersymmetry. It is not yet known whether string theory is able to describe a universe with the precise collection of forces and matter that is observed, nor how much freedom to choose those details the theory will allow. String theory as a whole has not yet made falsifiable predictions that would allow it to be experimentally tested, though various special corners of the theory are accessible to planned observations and experiments.The essential idea behind String theory is this: all of the different ‘fundamental’ particles of the Standard Model are really just different manifestations of one basic object: a string. How can that be? Well, we would ordinarily picture an electron, for instance, as a point with no internal structure. A point cannot do anything but move. But if String theory is correct, then under an extremely powerful ‘microscope’ we would realize that the electron is not really a point, but a tiny loop of string. A shysics and quantum gravity. Perhaps the most remarkable thing about string theory is that such a simple idea works--- it is possible to derive the Standard Model (which has been verified experimentally with incredible precision) from a theory of strings. But it should also be said that, to date, there is no direct experimental evidence that string theory itself is the correct description of Nature. This is mostly due to the fact that string theory is still under development. We know bits and pieces of it, but we do not yet see the whole picture, and we are therefore unable to make definite predictions. Technology is knowledge of using tools and machines to do tasks more efficiently and we use technology to control the world we live in. Some people argue that definitionof “technology” which satisfies everyone cannot be found. I agree with this statement.There are too many definition of technology in the world and technology is changing everyday as time goes. Technology has helped out in so many ways but it also has many disadvantages. Some people think technology has made life easier and safer, but the other people think technology has made life more difficult and more dangerous. Think about the both side of view. It influences minds in good and bad ways because each people have different thinking and ideas about technology. The meaning of “technology” can be represent by their opinion and many different elements affect how satisfied we are. Technology, the word may sound familiar and easy but explanation of its benefits and services provided to human are equally difficult and inexprent kinds of definition of the technology include advantages and disadvantages which can prove my statement.Human have always searched for a way to make things faster, stronger, smarter and better for human life. This, it was widely thought, would make life easier. From Technology in the 21st Century, “Technology thus plays in this instance as in others a crucial role in constituting modern society. It seems pertinent to try to understand how technology can play such a role, how it influences society, how it develop, how it-in turn- may be controlled.”(Pg188 10:14). Even if a person does not own a computer or have credit cards, there is information on a computer somewhere about everyone. It is affecting our immediate future. According to Handbook of Science and Tecogy will have at least different layers of meaning: physical artifacts, human activities and knowledge. Additionally I will consider the word technology to apply not only to hardware technology but also to social technology.” (Pg230 10:14) Humans are constantly inventing new items that will make their lives easier and more enjoyable. Technology today has made an impact in our everyday lives. Technology offers many advances in the world. By improving our science and technology, we are able to understand and research the world. That’s all advantages of technology that enriched our life style and let us have even better life than what we used to have.Computer is the most important thing in our lives. Now we are in the technology time and everything is connected with computers. The journalist John Snyder says, “Embrace file-sharing, or die: A record executive and his son make a formal case for freely downloading music. The gist: 50 million Americans can't be wrong.” Millions of people throinternet in a variety of ways. Irrespective of what we think should be done, it is still currently illegal to download copyrighted music that you didn't buy. This is a problem that needs to be addressed and also watching TV plays an important role in our daily lives. Almost everybody watches TV sometime everyday making it perhaps the most common hobby in modern society but watching TV does not involve the person participation actively. Watching TV discourages the kids' verbal development and the emotional closeness of the family. Today, modern technology also has created problems because they are dangerous.In conclusion, One might argue that definition of “technology” which satisfies everyone cannot be found. I agree with this statement. Actually, technology is rapidly changing and we can’t define meaning of “technology” which everyone satisfies. Technology is important in every society, but if we insist on using and depending on it a lot it can do destroy us, so we must think for oursnd use it as we see fit. Obviously, we could never neglect the dangerous possibilities of the growth of technology. Just the same time, recent technology has the potential to surmount the disadvantages of technology. In short, it depends on how we use the technology. What are the most important health indicators in Canada?Health indicators are important to let us know what kinds of health services are needed and to know whether present services are effective. What indicators determine health? Death could be one of the indicators to define the health status in Canada. According to Statistics Canada, the number one leading because of death is heart disease. More males get heart disease than females but women are at risk for heart disease and heart attacks, just the same as men are.The biggest factors that contribute to heart disease are: smoking, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, family history and age. Smoking is a major risk factor for heart disease. More than half of heart attacks occurring in men and women under 50 are related to smoking. Cigarette smoking is the single most preventable cause of disease and death in Canada. Smoking results in more deaths each year in Canada than AIDS, alcohol, cocaine, heroin, homicide, suicide, motor vehicls to help control high blood pressure. The losing weight and exercising regularly also control the cholesterol. The matter of smoking, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol could be controlled by the personal health practices. Physical activities and overweight/obesity are one of the major health indicators. Healthy lifestyles do not only prevent heart disease but it improves the quality of life because regular physical activity and weight-control throughout life is important for maintaining a healthy body, enhancing psychological well being, and preventing premature death.Mortality rate and morbidity is also important because this shows the overall health status of the population, showing the age of death. You can clearly see the populations’ health status through birth mortality rate, and Canada ranks 22 second in the world for birth mortality, which indicates the need for improvement in the health of our country.How does the New Democratic Party define “Health”?The Party's value The party’s thought is that everyone should have medical care despite their financial situations. The foundation of this thought is “free from disease”. They aim to improve the health care system so Canada can help decrease the amount of disease.What the New Democratic Party sees as part of their Health System?NDP is one of the parties that think the politics is important. They most insisted that they would improve the public health care and stop the growth of private sector. They liked to amend the Canada Health Act to eliminate for-profit private delivery of diagnostic services. Thus the cost of heath care would be reduced.The New Democratic Party feels that the public should be educated in healthy lifestyle choices. The public should have access to affordable sources of healthy, nutritious food. They should also have adequate, safe, nurturing and healthy living and working environments. Access to ALL forms of medical treatment, including alternative medicinal practices should be af Democratic Party does not see as part of their Health System?The New Democratic Party doesn’t see many social aspects that are detrimental to a health care system. They have missed several important points such as adequate safe and healthy living and work environments. They have not added any policies concerning standards of work environment but this issue is very crucial because it is a determinant of our health. Such determinants that have not been addressed at work are safety and stress management. They need to be covered in the NDP’s policy because they contribute to our health indicators. Lack of safety can lead to injury, which is one of the leading causes of death. As well lack of stress management can increase blood pressure leading to heart disease.Another issue that has been overlooked is affordable access to healthy foods. The NDP, in their policies, note that they want to ban Trans-Fats in fast food but they do not mention healthy foods at all. What the NDP does not see iscancer and heart disease. When Canada has knowledge, they have then have the power to change, and with the support of the government a lot can change in a very short time.Our ThoughtsIt is important for political parties to look at health indicators to see how they can improve present services and decide what kind of health services should be invested in. Although the NDP states that they have a preventative strategy they do not look at indirect effects such as workplace safety. Although an indirect approach to health it would be very beneficial to decrease the amount of accidents and heart disease in Canada today.The reason that the NDP overlooks certain aspects of indirect health care is because they have a narrow definition of health and what health is. They do not consider social aspects, such as stress management classes for the overworked and other aspects detrimental to society. They must realize that these social aspects create a supportive environment to all Canadians and help1

What is party’s definition of health? The Party's values support a preventative approach to health care, as opposed to the usual reactionary approach taken by Canadian governments. Preventative health care is not just the prevention of disease or "sickness care". We should not be waiting until the problem arises or becomes visible before it is treated. In order to create and maintain a healthy society, we must approach health care from a new angle.
