? 자기추천서 내용은 3가지 항목에 대하여 문항별 1000자 이내(띄어쓰기 포함)로 작성(작성된 내용은 서류심사 및 면접자료로 활용되므로 진솔하게 작성하시기 바람)? 본인이 지금까지 성취한 대표적인 업적과 경험을 구체적으로 기술저는 초등학교 저학년 때 뉴질랜드에서 학교를 다니며 UNICEF에서 주관한 캠페인에 참여했던 경험이 있습니다. 이 캠페인은 일주일동안 집안일을 돕거나, 군것질을 하지 않으며 모은 돈을 기부하는 것이었습니다. 이렇게 모인 돈은 아프리카에 불쌍한 아이들을 위하여 쓰여진다고 했습니다. 일주일 동안 기부할 돈을 모으기 위해 친구들과 과자를 팔러 다니기도 하였고, 설거지와 청소 등 집안일을 하기도 하였습니다. 일주일간 모인 돈은 얼마 되지 않았지만, 제 힘으로 얻은 돈을 기부할 때의 뿌듯함은 잊을 수 없습니다. 그때 저는 막연하게 나중에 저 아이들을 직접 꼭 돕고 싶다는 생각을 했습니다. 그 후 한국에 와서 저는 뉴질랜드에서의 캠페인을 한 경험을 바탕으로 도울 수 있는 기회를 계속 찾던 중 고등학생을 위한 해외봉사 프로그램이 있다는 것을 알게 되었고 네팔과 인도로 해외봉사를 다녀오게 되었습니다.해외봉사 프로그램의 주요 내용은 예체능 교육을 접할 기회가 드문 아이들을 위한 예체능 과목 교육 봉사였습니다. 네팔에서는 외국인을 처음 보는 마을 아이들을 위해 10박 11일 동안 벽화를 그렸습니다. 인도에서는 청각장애 아이들이 있는 학교와 지체장애가 아동들이 있는 학교로 봉사를 떠났습니다. 아이들이 몸이 불편한 부분이 있는 만큼 교육 내용에 더 신경을 써야 했습니다. 프로그램 기획이나 아이들과의 소통이 훨씬 어려웠지만 오히려 그 때문에 인도봉사가 더 잊을 수 없는 경험이 되었습니다. 매번 봉사를 갈 때마다 저는 아이들에게 너희들은 소중하고 사랑받는 사람들이라는 것을 꼭 알려주고 싶었습니다. 하지만 항상 아이들이 저에게 알려주었습니다.인도에서 처음으로 봉사를 간 학교는 SHIS Deaf&Dumb school 이였습니다. SHIS에서는 티셔츠 날염, 미니올림픽, 데칼코마니 등 음악교육보다는 미술과 체육 프로그램을 위주로 진행하였습니다. 아이들이 청각장애가 있어 소통이 원활하게 되지 않아 미술 프로그램을 진행하는데 많이 힘들었습니다. 티셔츠 날염 프로그램을 진행하고 싶어 아이들에게 흰 무지 티셔츠를 나누어 주었는데 아이들은 선물로 주는 것인 줄 알고 옷을 가방에 넣으려고 하여 당황한 일도 있었습니다. 의사소통에 어려움을 겪었지만 SHIS 아이들로부터 언어가 아닌 마음으로 서로를 이해하는 법을 배울 수 있었다고 생각합니다. 말대신 아이들과 표정과 몸짓으로 교감할 수 있었고, 상대에 대해 집중한다는 것이 무엇인지도 배울 수 있었습니다. 두 번째 간 학교는 Paras Padma라는 지체아동들이 있는 학교였습니다. Paras Padma는 Touch the flower이라는 뜻인데 지금 생각해도 제가 만난 아이들은 정말 소중한 꽃 같은 아이들입니다. Paras Padma 아이들은 체육수업보다는 음악교육이나 미술교육에 많이 중점을 두었습니다. 또한 아이들이 최대한 새로운 것들을 보고 경험할 수 있도록 화산 실험, 오카리나 연주 등을 함께 하였습니다.한국으로 돌아오는 비행기 안에서 저는 제가 만났던 아이들에게 꽃 같은 꿈을 심어주는 이 봉사야 말로 더 나은 세상을 만드는데 그 어떤 활동보다 직접적으로 기여할 수 있는 일임을 확신하게 되었습니다. 캠페인과 네팔과 인도의 봉사 경험은 제 꿈인 국제 구호 활동가로서의 간접경험으로, 제 꿈을 구체화할 수 있었고 현실적인 경험을 쌓을 수 있었습니다.1626? 전공분야에 지원하게 된 구체적인 이유와 입학 후 학업계획에 대해 구체적으로 기술해외봉사를 다녀오고, 한비야씨의 책 “지구 밖으로 행군하라”를 읽고 나서 국제구호협력가가 되겠다고 다짐을 했습니다. 전문적인 지식도 없이 국제구호협력가의 겉모습만 보고 꿈을 정한 것이 아닐까하는 고민이 생겼고, 국제구호협력가로서 저의 능력을 알 수 없어 국제구호협력가보다는 그저 봉사활동으로만 도움을 주는 것이 낫지 않은가 생각도 했습니다.진로를 놓고 이와 같은 고민을 하고 있을 때 학교 교무님께서 ‘평화의 친구들’이라는 단체를 소개시켜주셨습니다. ‘평화의 친구들’은 국제 평화단체였는데 직접 방문하여 국제구호협력가가 하는 일을 구체적으로 알게 되었습니다. 국제구호협력가는 재난지역 구호활동을 나가기도 하고, 평화실현 교육 사업도 하고, 국내외 평화단체들과 교류협력을 한다는 것을 알게 되었습니다. 국제구호협력가로서 기본적인 영어실력, 결단력 그리고 다른 문화를 이해하려는 노력 등이 필요하다는 것을 알게 되었습니다. ‘평화의 친구들’ 단체가 아이티로 봉사를 나갔을 때 아이티는 프랑스어를 쓰기 때문에 프랑스어에서 영어로 영어에서 한국어로 이중통역이 필요했다는 국제구호협력가 분의 말씀을 듣고 내가 할 수 있는 것은 통역 쪽의 분야구나 라는 것을 깨달았습니다.통역에 관심을 갖고 있던 저는 동국대학교에서 학부제를 통해 영어영문전공 뿐 아니라 영어 통번역을 전공으로 공부할 수 있는 기회가 있다는 것을 알고 지원하게 되었습니다. 만약 저에게 동국대학교 영어영문학부에서 공부할 수 있는 기회가 주어진다면, 영어통번역전공을 택하고 국제교류협력을 연계 전공하여 국제구호협력가가 되도록 노력할 것입니다.1학년, 2학년 때는 통번역 기초, 입문 강의를 들으며 통번역에 대한 기초를 쌓고 영어와 아프리카에서 많이 쓰이는 프랑스어를 집중적으로 공부하여 IBT 100점, DELF B1 레벨을 받을 수 있도록 노력할 것입니다. 또 Debate English 강의를 들으며, 국제연합학생회(UNSA)에 가입하여 대학생 모의 유엔과 모의 유엔 총회에 참가하여 조금 더 구체적이고 실현 가능한 결의안을 작성하여 같은 분야에 관심을 가지고 있는 사람들과 교류를 하며 많은 지식을 얻고 싶습니다. 3학년 때는 현지학기제 프로그램을 이용하여 University of New Mexico에서 영어학을 배우고 싶습니다. 현지학기제 프로그램을 이용하면 학점도 얻고 미국에 가서 더 많은 영어를 배우고 그 나라의 문화까지 배울 수 있는 기회가 될 것입니다. 또한 동국 108 리더스에 선발된다면 해외 봉사를 다녀오고 리더십 전문교육을 받고 싶습니다. 4학년 때는 1,2,3학년 때 배우고 얻은 것을 바탕으로 하여 사회로 나가기 전 미리 사회생활을 체험해볼 수 있는 인턴십 프로그램을 통하여 경험을 쌓을 것입니다. 그리고 학교 수업에도 열심히 임할 것입니다. 오류 없는 통역을 위해 영한 한영순차통역 강의들을 열심히 듣겠습니다. 그리고 프랑스어를 좀 더 공부하여 졸업 전에 DALF C2 레벨을 받을 수 있도록 노력하겠습니다.

Final Paper - Thomas Hardy, Tess of the d"Urbervilles (Movie)Importance of Social Class Change and Gender Shown in Tess of the d’UrbervillesMany of Hardy’s novels, the main characters deal with a cruel fate or struggle against social circumstances. Tess in Tess of the d’Urbervilles is a victim of fate, and she suffers from pessimistic fate due to sexual double standard and prejudice against social class and women that was prevalent in Victorian society. Tess is a strong women, and she tries to overcome the hardships in her life. But sexual double standard and the bias that society has, decides Tess’s fate and stops her from rising above.During the Victorian era, when Hardy lived and wrote Tess of the d’Urbervilles, it was the time for a change. Due to the industrial revolution, the economy changed from agriculture based to industry based. The industrial revolution also affected the way people live. For example, England moved fast from agriculture based to industry based. So major largecentury, social class meant everything. This is shown in Tess of d’Urbervilles. Tess was born and raised in a poor household. Her father, John Durbeyfield was informed that Derbeyfields are descended from the d’Urbervilles, a wealthy noble family. When Mr Derbeyfield knew this fact, he felt that he is important soul and asked to throw his chin up. Mr. Durbeyfield and his wife sends Tess, their first daughter to the d’Urbervilles to claim kinship and to change Tess’s fate, raising Derbeyfield’s social status. However, in reality there was no relation between them because Mr. d’Urbervilles changed the name after his retirement. In this short moment of the movie, we could know even though Tess’s father and family were humble under money, it shows the importance in the name and social class.The prejudice of social class is also shown in the character of Angel. When visiting his family, he is being judged for what he has decided to do, which is farming. Angels’ brothers notice that he has babout Tess because of her social class and they persuades Angel to meet Mercy, another girl from a good family. Hardy had both connection to the working and upper class but felt he belonged to neither of them. This have been reflected in the Angel’s position as neither of upper class nor a working class.Hardy depicted pessimistic fatalism aspects of Tess’s life. Tess struggled from cruel fate because she was a women and there was a sexual double standard general in the Victorian era. She was a victim of gender restraints. In the Victorian era, women couldn’t have equality to men and were expected to conform to male-dominated society without any questions.At the first part of the movie, it shows May Day Dance. All of women there wear white dresses and put white flowers which symbolizes women’s purity. This was an ideal feminine image that society seeks and expects from women. At the May Day Dance, Tess had red ribbon on her hair which stands out from the rest of the group and intimate h Angel knew about Tess’s past during confession he rejects her. At this point, the idea of sexual double standard is criticized. Even though, Tess was able to forgive Angel with his affair, he was unwilling to forgive her based on what his community and family would think if they discovered her past. Later Angel tells her to be separated. In this part, we could know that it was male-dominated society and society was biased towards men having the advantage.Hardy also criticized of position of women in the Victorian era. There was no place for women to rise above nor escape. Tess could not rise above or escape from her oppressor-Alec. For example, the only way for Tess to get away from Alec (the male oppressor) was to murder him. But murdering Alec leads Tess to get executed at last, which means that rising above against the oppressor or escaping was totally impossible.The society is looking Tess with disgust but they do not ask her what happened to her or try to understand her. They als and hardships to overcome. Even though, Tess was a strong women, she had a pessimistic fate because she was a women and at the same time in a low social class. During the Victorian Era, where she existed, there was a sexual double standard, the prejudice as a women and bias against social class.Hardy provided social comments on many issues general in Victorian society. Tess’s pessimistic fate due to two men made her life into pieces, but it was the society that made Tess as an unchaste women. Hardy asked if it was Tess’s responsibility, and it provoked criticism.However, what if Tess was born in 21st century? Was she still a fallen women? Or would society still brand her as a fallen women? These were the questions that I kept in mind when I started writing this paper.
