Be as specific as you can, regarding your academic interests and the curriculum you expect to follow in achieving your goals.1.연구동기저는 작문교육에 관심이 많습니다. 우리나라와 같은 외국어로서의 언어학습의 환경적 요인과 학습자들의 성향과 같은 여러 정의적 요인을 고려해볼 때, 학생들로부터 의미 있는 언어의 출력(Output)을 이끌어 내는 데에 작문이 가장 효과적이고 지속적인 방법이 될 수 있을 것 이라고 생각하기 때문입니다. 캐나다에서 두 달간 교내장학생으로 어학연수를 다녀왔습니다. 그 곳에서 매일 에세이를 작성하고 피드백을 받음으로써 어휘, 문법, 글의 구조의 일석 삼조의 효과를 얻을 수 있었습니다. 그래서 작문교육에 매료되어 있던 중 지난 학기에 수강했던 ‘영어 논리 및 논술’ 이라는 과목에서 과정중심의 글쓰기의 수업을 경험했습니다. 전공 책에서만 접했었던 교수법으로 실제 수업을 들어보니 처음엔 생소했지만 시간이 지나면서 저를 비롯한 다른 학생들은 자신의 성장을 눈에 띄게 확인 할 수 있었고 무엇보다 완성본에 집중하는 것이 아닌 글을 쓰는 과정에 집중하며 피드백을 줌으로써 작문에 대한 부담감을 내려놓을 수 있었습니다. 특히 동료들과의 피드백을 주고 받는 시간에 연어(Collocations)와 문법적 요소들에 집중하여 글의 정확성을 고려하며 쓸 수 있었고, 특히 글의 구조나 일관성에 대하여 거시적으로 관찰하고 피드백을 주고받으며 수정하는 등 메타인지를 활용하여 글의 완성도를 높일 수 있다는 점이 만족스러웠습니다. 저를 비롯한 많은 학생들이 동료의 피드백을 받고 눈부신 성장을 한 것을 보고, 과정중심 작문수업에서 아직 문법적 지식이 완성되지 않았거나 수동적 어휘지식(passive vocabulary)을 가지고 있는 학생들이 서로 피드백을 주고 받을 때 어떠한 목록으로 평가표를 구성하는 것이 효과적일지, 어떤 근거를 제시해야 명확한 피드백이 될 수 있을지에 대한 호기심이 생겼습니다.또한 저는 교생실습 때 플립러닝(flipped-learning) 방식으로 수업을 진행하시는 선생님께 배웠습니다. 강의 식 수업이 아닌 학생들의 참여와 활동으로 구성되고 교사의 피드백이 주를 이루는 수업에서 그 선생님께서 학생들의 언어의 출력을 늘리기 위한 방법으로 작문을 활용하시고, 다양한 장르의 글쓰기를 통해 회화에도 대비시키시는 것을 보고 작문교육이 꼭 필요하다고 생각하게 되었습니다. 그래서 플립러닝과 과정중심작문수업에 관한 연구논문을 검색을 해보았으나 우리나라 교육현장에서는 쓰기보다는 읽기에 초점을 맞춘다는 점과 참여식 수업보다는 강의식수업이 아직도 주를 이룬다는 점 때문에 아직 플립러닝과 과정중심작문 수업을 접목한 연구의 수는 현저히 적다는 것을 깨달았습니다. 그래서 저는 플립러닝을 활용한 과정중심 수업을 연구의 필요성을 인식하고 있으며 대학원에 진학한다면 이를 연구주제로 선정하고 싶습니다.2.연구목적저는 플립러닝을 접목한 과정중심작문 수업에서 오류를 수정하는 시간인 동료피드백을 주고받을 때 신뢰도를 높여주는 피드백의 항목과 효과적인 피드백이 구현되는 평가근거의 척도에 대한 연구를 하고 싶습니다. 플립러닝으로 문법수업을 먼저 진행 한 후 동료피드백에서 배웠던 문법을 잘 활용하여 글을 썼는지 서로 찾는다면 특정한 문법지식에 대해서 완벽한 습득이 일어날 것이라고 기대합니다.종종 동료에게 피드백을 주면서 자신의 글에서도 수정할 부분을 발견하고는 하기 때문에 피드백의 항목이 결국은 서로의 글에 대한 메타인지를 높여주는 항목들로, 판단하기 쉽게 구성함으로써 아직 문법적 지식과 어휘적 지식이 완벽하지 않은 학생들이 동료 간에 피드백을 주고받을 때 보다 효과적인 피드백의 항목을 밝힌다면 작문수업에서 학생들의 보다 눈부신 성장을 관찰할 수 있을 것이라고 기대합니다. 이를 통해 동료 간 피드백과 교사의 피드백의 효과성에 대한 고찰도 할 수 있을 것 입니다. 플립러닝으로 미리 숙지해온 문법이나 어휘지식들을 실제 수업시간에 사용하는 연습을 통해 작문실력의 향상과 절차적 지식의 선언적 지식으로의 변모를 직접 관찰하여 우리나라와 같은 EFL 상황에서 지속가능하고 효과적인 언어적 출력(Output)의 방법으로서 작문교육의 중요성과 적합성 또한 밝히고 싶습니다.3.연구방법가장 먼저 Output을 통해 언어의 습득을 촉진시킬 수 있다고 주장한 Merrill Swain의 'Output Hypothesis' 와 플립러닝에 대하여 관련논문과 원서로 보다 깊이 있는 공부를 한 후 작문교육의 효과성을 입증하기 위하여 작문수업의 현황 및 그동안 시행되었던 다양한 교수방법에 대한 연구논문을 조사할 것입니다. 이러한 분석을 토대로 방과 후 활동 교사로 근무하면서 직접 학생들과 플립러닝을 접목한 작문수업을 진행하며 관찰할 것입니다. 연구 대상자인 학생들의 흥미와 학업성취도를 파악하기 위한 사전 설문조사를 통하여 수업시간 및 시수, 작문의 장르, 학습자의 수준과 흥미 등을 고려하여 작문의 주제를 선정할 것입니다. 수업 전 미리 촬영한 영상을 제공하여 작문수업에서 사용할 문법이나 주제에 관련 된 어휘들에 대한 기본적 지식을 숙지하도록 한 후, 실제 수업은 브레인스토밍, 초안 작성하기, 동료와 피드백 주고받기, 완성본 작성하기의 4단계로 구성하여 진행할 것입니다. 특히 동료와 피드백을 주고받는 단계에서 피드백을 주고 동료와 자신의 글을 평가하는 평가지를 제공할 것입니다. 그리고 매 회기마다 상이한 문항의 평가지를 제공하여 훗날 더 도움이 되는 평가문항에 대하여 분석 할 것 입니다. 최종적으로 학생들의 글을 수합하여 교사가 최종적인 피드백을 제공하여 동료의 피드백을 받기 전인 초안과 동료피드백을 받은 후 의 완성본을 비교하여 동료 피드백이 주는 시너지 효과를 분석하고, 완성본에서 제공하는 교사의 피드백과 동료 피드백의 차이에 대하여 분석하여 둘의 차이점을 비교할 것입니다. 이러한 질적 조사에서 그치기 보다는 가능하다면 많은 학습자들과 다양한 장르와 주제에 대한 글을 쓰는 수업을 진행할 것입니다. 최종적으로 작문수업과 동료와 교사의 피드백의 효과성에 대한 설문지를 제공할 것입니다.
