Turnover Case AnalysisDepartment of Global Business Administration, Faculty of Business AdministrationPersonnel-Human Resource ManagementAmazon: Managing Turnover under the Great ResignationIntroductionAmazexodus is a new word that expresses the current situation in which many people, including executives and employees, are rapidly retiring or turning over from Amazon. As can be seen from the interview in the article, these turnovers and retirements are not unique to Amazon. The outbreak of the COVID-19 and the end of the pandemic have facilitated changes in the labor market, which are leading to unexpected results. If such unprecedented retirement seems to be caused by a change in the workers' perceptions, a close examination of human resources and a consideration of the management methods are essential for the prosperity and maintenance of the organization. Therefore, this essay will examine the Great Resignation from the perspective of human resource management, review Amazon's humaof a manager. The final option is to challenge and confront the manager who has designated one as an underperformer in front of a panel of peers in similar positions on Amazon around the world. Of course, if the objection is not accepted, one has to choose one of the two methods above. Among the employees who were targeted through the pivot system, that is, the low performers, 70% are fired, and only a 30% remains with the company through re-evaluation.Today, the reason Amazon's job turnover is a problem is not because such `under-performers are but because executives and employees who were doing their jobs well are, leaving one after another. The turnover of great employees is a serious problem because it leads to technology leakage and weakening of competitive advantage. Several problems resulting in these turnovers are found from the inside and outside of the firm.Internal Factor: Problems of HRMThe problems of Amazon can be summarized as the failure of strategic human resource manaployees no longer have to work hard, which eventually leads to turnover.Second, excessive stress given by the evaluation system is also present. As seen from the article, the employees suffered from endless competition. Having children to look after, and the fact that the nursery to leave the children in was closed due to the COVID-19 lockdown, were not taken into consideration in this competition. For this reason, the employees had to choose to be eliminated from the competition from the beginning, or to bear the burden of childcare in addition to the burden of competitive work. Excessive stress given from the system drove the employees to turn over to another firm.External Factor: The Great ResignationThere were also complicated external factors that made the internal problems more serious. Since 2021, the number of retiring employees has increased to a large amount in the USA. In August 2021, the number of voluntary resignations was 4.27 million. This was the highest number since thg moms are not taken care of. Similarly, other types of underdogs are also not being treated adequately within the company. Moreover, harsh working conditions serve to disrupt a worker’s ability to effectively contribute to the organization’s operations. It is obvious that no one wants to work under a condition where they cannot use their full performance potential. Contrariwise, the improvement of the working environment beyond a certain level will reduce the turnover.Proper Supervision and According Recognition: CompensationThe employees of Amazon have expressed their frustration from this kind of treatment. Both the middle and high-level management directors were somehow treating the employees unfairly, and the supervision method was unclear. These treatments have been shown to hinder the morale of workers and even lead to decisions of turnover. Therefore, fair and accurate supervision and appropriate relationships between the supervisors and the employees are required. On the other ar performers from leaving the company.ConclusionAs covered above, turnover management is critical to retain talented employees and maintain competitive advantage. Therefore, it is necessary to continuously study how it is appropriate to manage turnover in line with the changing trends. In particular, in the current situation facing The Great Resignation following the COVID-19 pandemic, big-tech companies, including Amazon, should reconsider the human resource management method of 'high-density competition and meritocracy' that they have maintained so far.ReferencesDUFFIELD, C., ROCHE, M., BLAY, N., THOMS, D., & STASA, H.
