KF 글로벌 챌린저해외 박물관 인턴십합격 영문 Internship ProposalInternship Proposal( Exploring the role and direction of museums:Plans to promote participation through arts, education, and cultural heritage )[ 이름 ]- Summary of Statement of Interest and Internship Plan (maximum of 250 words)My primary interests for the museum internship are modern and contemporary Korean art and museology. These fields have shaped my academic path, and through the KF Museum Internship, I aim to explore how these areas intersect in museums. My passion for Korean art grew during my research on Woo Shin-chul, a painter active during the Japanese colonial period, where I analyzed his works and the historical and regional factors that influenced his art. This research sparked my interest in how Korea’s history, particularly the Japanese occupation, shaped its art, and how museums can serve as platforms to share these narratives. In addition to art, my studies in cultural heritage have made me reflect on the evolving role of musm internship are modern and contemporary Korean art and museology. These two key areas have shaped my academic journey, and through the KF Museum Internship, I aim to deepen my understanding and explore how these disciplines intersect within the broader context of museums. In this plan, I will discuss my experiences, aspirations, and the direction I seek to pursue during the internship, focusing on these two fields. My interest in modern and contemporary Korean art developed significantly during my university years. A particular experience that stands out is my research on the artist Woo Shin-chul, a painter who was active in Busan during the Japanese colonial period. I analyzed a 1940 Dong-A Ilbo newspaper article about his work and presented my findings to my classmates. This project allowed me to delve into his achievements, the art movements he was part of, and the influence of regional and historical factors on his art. Through this research, I became deeply interested in how histhould take in the future. A key concept that resonates with me is the idea of the "active museum." An active museum not only preserves and exhibits artifacts but also engages visitors in interactive and meaningful ways, particularly focusing on content designed for students and young people. The active museum approach is essential in bridging the gap between younger generations and their understanding of history. By creating systems that facilitate engagement and education, museums can transform from passive spaces into dynamic cultural hubs. For example, I have seen how the Saengsaeng Cultural Heritage Project in Korea allows students to experience and learn about the cultural heritage of Cheoinseong Fortress, turning it into a space for education, art, and cultural exploration. This kind of immersive educational experience helps young people move beyond the confines of history textbooks and into a space where they can engage with their cultural heritage in a more tangible way. One ofcle: Cultural Content → Increased Cultural Interest → Enhanced Image of Korea. While creating new content is indeed broad in scope, in a narrower sense, it represents one of the most modern roles a museum can take on. For example, there is an exhibition room in the National Museum of Korea called the "Room of Contemplation." This space is designed to encourage busy modern visitors to engage in quiet contemplation, opening their senses to observe the exhibitions from various angles at a slower pace. Although the artifacts displayed in this room are not large enough to fill the entire space, the arrangement and use of empty spaces are intentional. By providing this kind of layout, the museum offers visitors a new way to appreciate the artifacts, prompting them to reflect on the deeper meaning of the items on display. This highlights how curatorial decisions can enhance the significance of exhibits. Furthermore, the creation of new content can also be achieved through digital means. One e intended to satisfy the curiosity of visitors. Rather, this indicates that the museum itself can be newly used, not a hard exhibition space, or even developed and access content. As museums evolve, they must also continue to fulfill their educational and social missions. According to the International Council of Museums (ICOM), museums collect evidence of humanity and the environment and make it accessible to the public, thereby contributing to social development. However, future museums must go beyond their traditional roles as collection-focused institutions. They must evolve into organizations that fulfill educational and social missions, emphasizing communication, diversity, and enjoyment. Museums should also foster new and horizontal relationships between visitors, curators, and collections. In terms of acquisition policies, museums should actively acquire artifacts that protect cultural identity and promote diversity. These acquisitions should align with the museum’s mission and .
