Electricity makes us feel more comfortable as part of our lives. The average daily alarm clock also provides electricity when checking school fires, television, and emails. The first U.S. power plant opened in New York City in 1882 and originally started supplying electricity to only 59 customers, with 8% of U.S. households using electricity and the amount increased to 67% by 1932. It is said that 66% of this electricity in the United States is produced from burning fossil fuels. The most important fossil fuels are oil, coal, and natural gas.
