<Introduction>
In such a short period of time, Korea’s major industries achieved relatively strong competitiveness in the global market. Ship-building and automobile industry can definitely be included in one of the major Korean industries. However, these two industries’ competitiveness have been challenged by other nations gradually, starting from the financial crisis in 2008. This paper will deal with the development and achievements of each industries, the challenges and problems happening to the industries and possible solutions.

Section 1. What is Ship-building Industry?
Ship-building industry is an integrated assembling industry . This means that in order to build a ship, not to mention the geographical reasons of siting near sea, it requires lots of capital, labor and high degree of technology, backings by the government in the ways of funds, laws, and tax reductions, and so on.
