Everyone knows that excessive meat consumption causes obesity, and it results in various adult diseases. In addition, many studies prove that meat consumption is directly related to health. Large studies in England and Germany show that vegetarians were about 40 percent less likely to develop cancer compared to meat eaters, and Harvard studies show that daily meat eaters have approximately 3 times the colon cancer risk, compared to those who rarely eat meat (The Cancer Project, n.d.).

Sometimes, opponents of vegetarians insist that vegetarians could not intake sufficient essential nutrients, but vegetarians can take all essential nutrients without eating meat at all. First of all, vegetarian can easily intake protein from beans and dairy products, and calcium from sesame seeds, broccoli and sea vegetables.

Another reason that being a vegetarian should be encouraged is factory farms have two significant problems: environmental problem and animal abuse. Factory farms have increased to meet demand of meat for many years, and if people keep eating meat more and more, producers have no choice but to raise animals by factory farming.
