폴리텍대학 재학생의 사회적지지, 자기결정성동기, 진로결정수준과의 구조관계 분석 (Structural Relationship between Social Support, Self-determining Motivation, Career Decision Making of Polytechnic Students)

초록

본 연구는 폴리텍대학 재학생의 진로결정수준과 관련하여 사회적지지, 자기결정성동기와의 관계를 고찰하고, 이를 바탕으로 사회적 지지와 진로결정수준과의 관계에서 자기결정성동기의 매개효과를 확인하였다. 연구대상은 폴리텍V대학 대학생이며 분석 표본은 광주캠퍼스와 순천캠퍼스에 재학 중인 학생들을 대상으로 교양수업시간에 연구자가 직접 방문하여 연구의 취지와 응답요령을 상세히 설명하고 설문을 실시하였다. 사회적 지지, 자기결정성동기를 매개하여 진로결정수준에 미치는 영향을 확인하기 위하여 구조방정식모형분석을 한 결과 첫째, 사회적 지지 요인인 부모관심과 학교지원은 자기결정성동기에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 친구관계가 자기결정성동기에 미치는 영향은 유의하지 않았다. 폴리텍대학에 입학 결정을 한 것에서부터 일반 대학 학생들과 차이가 있기 때문으로 사료된다. 일반적인 대학생들과는 다르게 폴리텍대학 학생들은 이전의 경험을 바탕으로 진로목표에 대한 달성을 목적설정하고 이를 우선시하는 목적이 뚜렷하게 설정되어 있기 때문이다. 둘째, 사회적 지지인 부모관심, 학교지원, 친구관계가 진로결정수준에 미치는 영향은 모든 경로가 통계적으로 유의하지않은 것으로 나타났다. 폴리텍대학 학생들의 경우 성장 과정에서 겪은 여러 장벽과 좌절 경험으로 인해 자신이 하고 싶은 혹은 자신이 좋아하는 일에 대해 부모와 함께 고민할 수 있는 기회가 적었고, 사회적 요구에 의해 직업 세계에 진입해야겠다는 목표 의식만 뚜렷해지게 되었다. 이에 따라 충분한 자기 탐색과 진로 결정 경험이 없다는 한계에 의해 상기와 같은 결과가 도출되었다. 셋째, 자기결정성동기가 진로결정수준에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 최근 취업난에 의해 상대적으로 취업하기 어려운 전공을 공부한 학생들이나 취업이 잘 되는 전공을선택했다고 하더라도 자신의 적성과 맞지 않아 부득이하게 재교육이 필요하게 된 학생들은 자신의 적성을 살릴수 있는 기술 분야를 선택해 취업을 하고자 한다. 따라서 이러한 이들의 선택은 자신의 삶에 책임 의식을 갖춘 자기결정에 의한 것이라고 볼 수 있다. 본 연구는 폴리텍 재학생들의 진로결정수준을 높이기 위해 진로의 방향성과목표에 대한 확신을 가질 수 있도록 하는 환경조성이 중요하다고 보았다. 이를 위하여 진로지도의 다각적인 측면에서 교육적 지도 방안을 모색해보고자 하였다.

영어초록

This study examines the relationship between social support and self-determination motivation in relation to the career decision making of polytechnic students. Based on this, the mediating effect of self-determination motivation was identified in the relationship between social support and career decision making. The research subjects were Polytechnic V college students, and the analysis sample was for students in Gwangju and Suncheon Campus. During the liberal arts class, the researcher visited in person, explaining the purpose of the study and how to respond in detail, and conducted a questionnaire. To determine the effect on career decision making through mediating social support and self-determination motivation, structural equation model analysis was performed.
As a result, first, parental support and school support, which are social support factors, have a significant effect on self-determination motivation. However, it seems that the effect of friendship on self-determination motivation was not significant. The decision to enter Polytechnic college is different from the average university students. Unlike general college students, polytechnic students have a clear purpose of setting and prioritizing career goals based on previous experience. Second, the effects of social support such as parental interest, school support, and friendship on the career decision making all were not statistically significant. In case of the polytechnic college students, due to the many barriers and frustrations they experienced during their growth, they had little opportunity to worry with their parents about what they wanted to do or like, and only had a clear sense of goal to enter the world of work by social needs. As a result, the above results were obtained due to the limitation of insufficient self-exploration and career decision making experience. Third, self-determination motivation was found to have a significant effect on career decision making. Students who have studied majors that are relatively difficult to find jobs due to their recent employment difficulties, or those who choose a wellemployed major, who do not fit their own aptitudes and are inevitably needing re-education, select a technology field that can utilize their aptitudes. Thus, these choices can be seen as self-determination with responsibility in their lives. This study considered that it is important to create an environment that can convince students of career direction and goals in order to raise their career decision making. To this end, this study attempted to find educational guidance in various aspects of career guidance.
