경영학연구 키워드를 통해 본 한국 경영학연구의 흐름 (Tracking the Evolution of Business Studies in Korea via the Keywords in Korean Management Review)

초록

본 논문은 한국경영학회 창립 60년을 맞이하여 국내 경영학 분야 최초이자 최고 학술지인 경영학연구에 실린 논문 내용을 고찰함으로써 국내 경영학 연구의 과거와 현재를 조망하고 미래 발전방향을 모색하는 것을 목적으로 진행되었다. 경영학연구가 첫 출간된 1971년부터 2015년 5월까지 경영학연구에 발간된 논문 1,618편 모두를 대상으로 1971년부터 1989년, 1990년부터 1999년, 2000년부터 2009년, 2010년 이후의 4시기로 나누어 키워드 어형 분석을 통해 시대의 흐름에 따라서 어떤 연구주제가 중요하게 다루어졌는지에 대한 상세한 분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과, 1971년부터 1989년 사이에는 증권시장, 회계기준 및 원칙, 한국에 맞는 경영교육 및 경영철학 정립, 경영학 이론의 소개 및 한국과 해외 경영 비교 연구 등 한국 경제 성장의 제도적․정책적 기틀 마련에 기여할 수 있는 연구가 많이 이루어진 것으로 나타났으며, 후반부에 경영 환경이 어려워짐에 따라 노사관계, 경영개선 등 기업 경영 효율화 관련 연구가 많이 이루어졌다. 1990년대에는 세계화에 발맞추어 국제경영 및 전략 분야 연구가 활발히 전개되었고 시장 및 브랜드에 대한 연구도 활발해졌으며, IMF 이전 및 이후에는 위기 극복과 관련된 연구가 다수 진행되었다. 2000년대에는 불확실성과 경영혁신에 관한 연구가 주요 이슈로 등장했으며, 벤처기업에 관한 연구가 다각도로 진행되었다. 한편 한류 열풍과 맞물린 한류 및 콘텐츠에 관한 연구와 인터넷에 관한 연구가 주요하게 다루어졌다. 2010년 이후에는 불확실성, 지속가능경영, 사회적 책임 등에 관한 연구가 확대되었다. 이를 통해 경영학연구는 높은 수준의 현실적합성을 보여주고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 한편 키워드의 수명주기 및 연관성 네트워크 분석을 통하여 경영학 개별 분야 간 연구주제의 복합화가 이루어지고 있는지를 규명하였는데, 시간의 흐름에 따라 공통된 주제를 통한 학제간 연구가 보다 발전할 가능성을 발견할 수 있었다. 이외에도 참고문헌 중 논문 비중의 증가, 공저자 수 증가 등을 통해서 학문적 엄격성이 높아지고 있음도 알 수 있었다. 본 연구는 한국 경제 발전사에서 한국 경영학이 미치는 영향에 대해서 살펴봄으로써 향후 한국 경제 발전을 선도할 수 있는 한국형 경영학을 확립하는데 중요한 시사점을 제공하고 있다.

영어초록

The purpose of this paper is to review the past and the present and to seek the future directions of Korean management studies by examining the papers published at Korean Management Review (KMR), the first and the best scholastic journal in the field of business administration in Korea. Specifically, this study has investigated all 1,618 articles published at Korean Management Review from 1971, the year of first publication, to May 2015 and analyzed main research topics for four periods of time: 1971-1989; 1990-1999; 2000-2009; 2010 and onwards. According to our analysis, from 1971 to 1989, KMR contributed to the establishment of institutions and policies for economic development by such studies as securities market, accounting standards and principles, establishment of business education and philosophy in the Korean context, introduction of up-to-date business and management theories, and comparative studies between Korea and foreign states. In addition, in late 1980s, when economic conditions turned unfavorable, KMR contributed to the improvement of business efficiency by increasing publications on such critical issues as industrial relations and performance improvements. In 1990s, upon globalization, KMR increased research in international business and strategic management field significantly as well as studies on markets and brands. Before and after the IMF crisis, KMR published more studies related to economic crisis. In 2000s, KMR made uncertainties and innovation the important issues and introduced studies on start-ups and small entrepreneurial firms from various perspectives. Moreover, KMR gave more attention to research on Hallyu and contents as well as the Internet. Since 2010, KMR hosted more studies on uncertainties, sustainability, and corporate social responsibilities. By looking at these trends, this study has reached the conclusion that KMR has had the high degree of relevance. This study has also performed analysis on life cycles and networks of keywords, based on which this paper suggests a possibility of more development in productive interdisciplinary research on a few key research agenda through KMR. In addition, this study has observed the enhanced rigor by looking at changes in basic measures such as the weight of journal articles in references and the number of co-authors. This study provides important implications for the establishment of Korean-style management that will guide the future economic development in Korea by investigating the effect of business theories in Korea on the economic development in Korea.
