유영철 글쓰기에 나타난 사이코패스 성격 연구 (A Study of Psychopathic Character in Yoo Young-cheol's Writing)

초록

본고는 월간조선 객원기자 이은영이 유영철과 주고 받은 편지를 묶은「살인중독」을 중심으로 유영철의 글쓰기에 나타난 사이코패스(Psychopathy, 반사회적 인격장애)의 성격을 연구하였다. 이것은 유영철의 글쓰기가 심리적으로 반사회적 의식을 가지고 있다는 것을 밝힘으로써 글쓰기 분석을 통하여 사회학적․심리학적인 연쇄살인범의 내면 의식과 구조를 진단할 수 있는 전범이 되기 위함이다.
탐구한 유영철의 편지는 그가 반사회적인 인물에 대한 존재성을 보여주고 있는데, 자신의 정서와 자신의 내면의 반영이 고스란히 글이라는 객관적인 영역으로 표출되어 있다는 점이다. 유영철의 문제의식과 양상으로서 유영철이 외부세계에서 말 할 수 없었던 비밀스러운 사실과 사건을 글쓰기로 발설할 때, 그의 내밀하고도 은폐된 자아의 소리를 언어 형식에서 읽을 수 있었다 이것은 글쓰기가 억압된 자의식에 대한 제의를 수행하면서 전달하고자 하는 의미를 언어라는 형식에 외면화하는 행위로서 주체의 드러남인 것을 확인시켜주었다.
연구방법으로서 유영철 글쓰기를 통해 그의 반사회적인 심리를 파악할 수 있는 분석적 도구로 정신병질 장애검사 도구 PCL-R(Psychopathy Checklist-Revised)을 사용하였다. 유영철의 글쓰기에 나타난 반사회적 성격의 요인을 살펴보고, 정신분석 이론의 자기방어기제로서 그의 심리상태를 탐구하는데 유영철의 심리기제들이 어떠한 유형으로 작동되고 있는지를 분석하였다. 유영철의 PCL-R 상의 반사회적 심리적 성격의 문제 요인으로서 첫째 대인관계, 둘째 정서성, 셋째 생활양식, 넷째 반사회성 등 네 가지와 20가지의 세부 항목을 통해 사이코패스의 문제 요인을 축출하고, 그 원인을 정신분석이론의 ‘자아방어기제(defense mechanism)’의 관점에서 살펴보았는데, 유영철의 경우 억압으로 인한 본능적 욕구와 초자아의 요구 사이, 자아와 세계간의 타협과 절충형성(compromise formation)이 이루어지지 않으므로 욕구 충족의 이상 행동인 연쇄살인 증세로 발전하였다고 볼 수 있다.
하지만 유영철의 글쓰기에 나타난 사이코패스의 성격을 분석하기 하는데 있어서 표층적인 사회적․심리적 분석에 거쳤다는 한계가 있다. 앞으로 유영철과 같은 연쇄살인범이라는 희대의 살인마에 대한 출현을 단절하기 위해서 사회학 ․심리학 분야 뿐 만 아니라 학제간의 여러 분야에서 사이코패스의 심리와 범죄와의 역학관계를 심층적으로 추적하고 분석함으로써 사이코페스의 진단과 예방을 통해 살인중독의 미망에서 벗어나야 할 것이다.

영어초록

Based on the work, [Sallin Joongdok] which means, Killing Addiction, a collection of letters between Lee, Eun-young, a reporter of the Monthly Choseon and Yoo, Young-cheol, a sort of psychopathic character in Yoo, Young-cheol's writing was studied in the paper. By clarifying that Yoo's writing is coupled with the consciousness of psychopathic character in terms of psychology, a paragon will be able to be offered for diagnosing the inner consciousness and structure of serial killer in light of sociology and psychology through the analysis of writing.
Judging from letters written by Yoo, Young-cheol, we can be aware that he is psychopathic, which reveals in his work, specifically in terms of his emotion and inner image through his writing as an objective realm. For example, when what Yoo, Young-cheol couldn't tell outside the world or something like those events is disclosed through writing, his secret and his clandestine voice can be read by way of his original language form, through which writing can be a subject motivator as a revealing method or action for conveying suppressed self-consciousness and its purport through writing.
As a study mechanism, PCL-R(Psychopathy Checklist-Revised) was used as an analytic method to the effect of understanding his psychopathic character. That Yoo's psychological mechanisms acted or reacted in a variety of patterns can be studied in this paper, by studying some character factors revealed in his writing and his self-defense mechanism based on a theory of psychoanalysis by Zigmund Freud.
Yoo, Young-cheol's psychopatic and psychological character cover some factors such as, firstly, a relationship among others, secondly, emtion, thirdly, life-style, fourthly, psychopathic character. In addition, twenty-point factors were studied to infer problematic factors of psychopathic character and the cause was studied based on the theory of defense mechanism, which made it possible for to fathom that his failure in satisfying his urge developed into his serial killing, stemming from many problems, from instinct desire derived from suppression to super-ego, and failure of compromise formation between self and his world.
The purpose of the paper is to examine psychopathic character revealed by Yoo, Young-cheol's writing. His writing implied that he was psychopathic, and defense mechanism was provided for a demonstrating method to analyze causes.
Therefore, this paper has limitations or defects such as poor social and psychological analyses. To prevent any possible further monster, a serial killer of the day from emerging in this society, an astute analysis based on sociology, psychology, to say nothing of inter-disciplinary realms must be coupled with deep probing and analysis to pursue and search for the concrete and dynamic relation between psychopathy and crimes to cut killing addiction in the future.
