Weather changes caused by climate change suggest the importance of greenhouse gas management. According to the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) in 2023, it was announced that Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions in the supply chain account for 86% of total emissions. In Korea, CO2 emissions from the transportation sector account for about 20%, and the transportation sector accounts for 50%.
In the logistics field, in most cases, order recipients are unable or cautious to resolve environmental issues on their own due to their relationship with the orderer. In this study, in order to calculate CO2 emissions by packaging container and transportation distance, CO2 emissions generated in the transportation sector were objectively expressed using data from the Korea Transport Institute, and to calculate CO2 emissions generated from pallets, data from the Industrial Environment Industry & Technology Institute and Korea Pallet Container Association were used. A feasible approach was adopted. Based on this, a method of creating a Pallet_km carbon emissions table was presented, which is expected to be useful in calculating and managing carbon emissions in the logistics field.
