유아의 마음이론 내포 그림책 등장인물의 바람 및 의도의 실현 양상 고찰: 주인공을 중심으로 (Realization Aspect of Main Character’s Desire and Intention in Picturebooks Implied by the Child’s Theory of Mind)

초록

본 연구의 목적은 마음이론을 내포한 그림책의 등장인물이 갖고 있는 바람 및 의도가 서사에서 어떻게 구현되고 실현되는지 그 양상을 살펴보고 그 시사점을 밝히는 것이다. 연구대상은 마음이론 내포 그림책 중 ‘바람’ 및 ‘의도’ 내용이 포함된 그림책 22권을 선정하고 마음이론 내포 그림책 등장인물의 바람, 의도, 행위 분석틀을 적용하여 해석학적 순환과정을 거쳐 분석하였다. 연구결과 첫째, 유아의 마음이론 내포 그림책 등장인물의 바람-의도-행위 구성 양상은 입체적·역동적 등장인물 유형이 우세하고, 등장인물의 구성요소로서 동물 등장인물의 다양한 의인화, 유아 자신·가족·친구 간 욕구와 심리적 갈등 내포, 생활체계·생활양식으로서의 사회문화적 내용을 포함하며, 표현요소에서는 3인칭 화자에 의한 서사 전개, 글과 그림의 상호작용에 의한 마음의 가시화, 모방을 유발하는 연속된 동작의 그림, 적절한 대사를 통한 등장인물의 성격 이해 도모, 다양한 표현기법의 그림으로 마음 이해 도모 등의 특징을 보였다. 둘째, 마음이론 내포 그림책 등장인물의 바람 및 의도의 실현 양상은 반복적 시도와 좌절 극복에 의한 바람 및 의도의 실현, 잘못된 바람 및 의도의 미실현, 잘못된 바람의 실현 후 깨달음과 성장, 바람의 좌절과 성장 유형으로 나타났다. 연구결과는 마음이론 내포 그림책에서 등장인물의 바람 및 의도의 실현과정을 잘 보여주는 그림책을 경험하는 유아 독자는 자신과 타인의 바람, 의도를 더욱 잘 이해하여 세상과의 소통을 더 잘 할 수 있도록 도움을 받을 수 있음을 시사한다.

영어초록

The purpose of this study was to explore the realization aspect of main character’s desire and intention in picturebooks implied by the child’s theory of mind. The subjects of this study included 22 picturebooks implied by the child’s theory of mind. For the data analysis, the components of the picturebooks and the character’s desire, intention, and action analysis framework were used as an analysis framework through the hermeneutic circulation process. The results of this study were as follows: First, the character’s desires, intentions, and actions in picturebooks implied by the child’s theory of mind were constructed with round and dynamic characters, various personifications of animal characters, needs and psychological conflict with self, family, and friends, and the structure of life and lifestyles. Additionally, the character’s desires, intentions, and actions were expressed by several features such as writing in the third-person, visualizing the character’s mind with interaciton between the text and images, drawing a series of actions that cause children’s imitation, using proper dialogues for better understanding of the character’s personality, and using various art techniques for enhancing character’s mind reading. Second, the result showed four realization aspects of the main character’s desires and intentions in picturebooks implied by the child’s theory of mind. Those were the realization of desires and intentions overcoming repeated attempts and frustrations, unrealization of wrong desires and intentions, realization and growth after realizing the wrong desires, and desire frustration and growth. The results suggest that good picturebooks implied by the child’s theory of mind help children understand others’ minds better with experientiality through the realization process of the character’s desires and intentions, imitation of body movements stimulating the mirror neurons, and indirect experience with visualized educational situations.
