「무지개 물고기」 그림책 시리즈의 의미: Greimas와 Barthes의 기호학을 중심으로 (The Meaning of the 「Rainbow Fish」 Picture Book Series: Centering on the semiotics of Greimas and Barthes)

초록

목적 본 연구는 「무지개 물고기」 그림책 시리즈에서 유아에게 전달하고자 하는 메시지를 찾아 그림책 안의 내포된 의미를 이해하고, 교육현장에서 기초자료로 사용될 수 있도록 하는데 그 목적이 있다.
방법 「무지개 물고기」 시리즈를 Greimas(1985)의 시퀀스 분석, 이항대립분석, 행위주분석, Barthes(1997)의 신화이론의 기호학적 접근에 기초하여 유아 그림책에 내포된 전체적인 내용과 심층적인 의미를 살펴보았다.
결과 「무지개 물고기」 시리즈 그림책이 가지고 있는 시퀀스 분석내용의 공통점은 갈등, 문제 등이 모두 해결되는 행복한 결말이라는것이다. 하지만 플롯의 형식에서 차이가 나타났다. 시간의 흐름대로 이야기가 전개되는 단선적 형식과 이야기 속의 사건이 시간의흐름에 따라 차례로 진행되다가 다시 원점으로 돌아오는 순환적 형식 두 가지로 나타났다. 이항대립 분석내용의 경우, 무지개 물고기의 상황, 감정, 태도 등이 모두 포함되어 있다는 공통점을 보였고, 차이점은 등장인물 간 대립, 장소 간 대립, 무지개 물고기 심경 변화등으로 나타났다. 「무지개 물고기」 시리즈 그림책이 가지고 있는 행위주 분석내용은 무지개 물고기는 주체와 수신자의 역할로 동일인물이며 주인공이 되고, 시리즈 간 차이점은 전달의 축인 발신자의 역할과 능력의 축인 조력자와 대립자의 역할이 다르다. 또한, 이야기 전개에 따라서 조력자 역할을 하는 등장인물이 없는 때도 있으며, 동일 인물이 대립자의 역할이었다가 조력자 역할로 바뀌는때도 있다. 「무지개 물고기」 시리즈 그림책이 가지고 있는 신화분석을 통해 행복 찾기, 관계 형성하기, 공감하기, 관심 가지기, 문제해결하기, 수용하는 마음 가지기, 긍정적인 상호작용하기, 갈등 해결하기 등의 주제를 도출할 수 있었으며 무지개 물고기와 다른 물고기들이 함께 더불어 살아가는 것을 담고 있다.
결론 본 연구에서는 기호학적 접근에 기초하여 「무지개 물고기」 시리즈 그림책의 깊이 있는 이해와 해석을 돕고, 유아 교육현장에서그림책에 내포된 의미와 문학성을 효과적으로 전달하여 유아 교육현장에 적용할 수 있도록 하였다는 점에서 그 의의가 있다.

영어초록

Objectives The purpose of this study is to find the message to be delivered to infants in the “Rainbow Fish” picture book series, understand the implications of the picture book, and use it as basic data in the educational field.
Methods The “Rainbow Fish” series examined the overall content and in-depth implications of early childhood picture books based on Greimas (1985)'s sequence analysis, binary confrontation analysis, behavioral analysis, and Barthes (1997)'s semiotic approach to myth theory.
Results The common feature of the sequence analysis contents of the “Rainbow Fish” series picture book is that it is a happy ending in which all conflicts and problems are resolved. However, there was a difference in the format of the plot. There were two types: a single-line format in which the story unfolds over time, and a circular format in which events in the story progress one after another over time and then return to square one. In the case of binary confrontation analysis, there was a common point that all the situations, emotions, and attitudes of rainbow fish were included, and the differences were confrontation between characters, confrontation between places, and change of mind of rainbow fish. The behavioral analysis of the “Rainbow Fish” series picture book shows that rainbow fish become the same person and main character in the role of the subject and receiver, and the difference between the series is that the role of callers and opponents is different. In addition, depending on the development of the story, there are times when there are no characters who play the role of assistants, and sometimes the same character changes from the role of the antagonist to the role of assistants. Through the myth analysis of the “Rainbow Fish” series picture book, we were able to derive topics such as finding happiness, forming relationships, empathizing, being interested, solving problems, accepting minds, positive interaction, and resolving conflicts.
Conclusions This study is significant in that it helps in-depth understanding and interpretation of the “Rainbow Fish” series picture books based on a semiotic approach, and effectively conveys the meaning and literature implied in picture books in the field of early childhood education so that they can be applied to the field of early childhood education.
