생태 감응력(Ecological Affect)의 관점에서 본 현대시 활용 환경교육 프로그램 사례 연구:‘나의 환경독립시집’ 프로그램을 중심으로 (A Case Study of Environmental Education Program Using Modern Poetry from the Perspective of Ecological Affect:Focusing on ‘My Environmental Independent Poetry’ Program)

초록

이 연구는 현재까지 다루어진 생태 감수성 개념에 대한 문제 인식에서 출발한다. 지금까지의 생태 감수성 개념은 삶 속에서 여러 경험을 가짐으로써 창발적으로 형성되는 마음의 복잡성을 담아내는 데 한계가 있다. 본 연구는 이러한 마음을 반영하는 확장된 개념의 필요성을 역설한다. 이에 따라 마음에 중요한 요소인 정서(affect)에 대한 역량 또한 중요할 것이라 판단한다. 본 연구는 학습자의 내면의 세계, 즉 마음을 보다 확장된 의미로 표현할 수 있는 개념인 ‘생태 감응력’을 환경교육 프로그램에 적용하고, 프로그램에서 나타난 학습자의 마음 변화를 생태감응력 차원에서 살펴보고자 하였다.
본 연구에서는 마음의 예술적 언어표현 결과물이라고 할 수 있는 현대시에 초점을 둔다. 시는 함축적인 언어 형식으로 표현하는 자기 인식적 예술이다. 특히 창작자의 내면을 반영하여 표현해야 하기 때문에 마음의 변화를 관찰할 수 있다는 특징이 있다. 다시 말해 현대시를 활용하는 것은 자기, 타자, 세계를 이해하고 서로 주고받는 영향을 감응하는 데 효과적이며, 이를 통해 생태 감응력을 함양할 수 있는 가능성을 보여줄 수 있다고 판단하였다.
‘나의 환경독립시집’ 프로그램은 학습자가 현대시 창작을 통해 자기, 타자, 세계에 대한 마음을 표현하는 것을 목표로 한다. 이 프로그램은 총 4차시의 과정으로 진행되었다. 환경과 현대시에 대한 라포 형성, 자기 이해, 타자 이해, 세계 인식과 이해 등을 주제로 현대시를 창작해보고 다른 사람과 공유하는 활동으로 구성되었다. 학습자가 환경에서 느낀 자신의 마음을 현대시로 표현한 창작 결과물을 분석함으로써 환경을 대하는 마음에 변화가 드러남을 파악할 수 있었다. 학습자는 창작시를 통하여 ‘타자와의 관계 형성’, ‘세계의 아름다움의 재발견’, ‘현 세계와 미래 세계에 대한 걱정’ 등 다양한 정서를 표현하였다.
본 논의는 생태 감수성에 대한 문제의식을 밝히고 새로운 개념인 생태 감응력의 필요성을 역설하였으며, 이를 바탕으로 ‘나의 환경독립시집’ 프로그램을 구성하고 결과물을 분석하여 그 효과를 규명하였다. 그러나 생태 감응력의 개념이 학술적으로 명확히 정립되었다고 볼 수 없으므로 추가적인 연구를 통한 보완이 필요하다. 이 연구는 환경교육과 현대시교육의 통합적 연계 방안을 모색했다는 점에서 의의를 지닌다.

영어초록

This study starts with the recognition of a problem with the concept of ecological sensitivity. So far, ecological sensitivity has been discussed as a concept of acceptance of experiences in the environment. We argue that this concept of ecological sensitivity is limited in its ability to capture the complex world of the mind. In this study, we argue that a broader concept of ecological sensitivity is needed. In particular, the capacity for ‘affect’, an important element of the mind, is considered important. This study is to apply ‘ecological affect’, a concept that can express the inner world of learners, to an environmental education program, and examined the changes in learners’ minds through the concept of ‘ecological affect’. A distinctive feature of this study is the program's use of modern poetry as an artistic expression of the mind. Poetry is a self-aware art that expresses itself in an implicit language form. In other words, utilizing modern poetry is effective in understanding self, others, and the environment, and being sensitive to how we affect and are affected by each other. Through this, we reason that we can show the possibility of cultivating ‘ecological affect’. The ‘My Environmental Independent Poetry’ program aims to help learners express their feelings about self, others, and the environment through the creation of modern poetry. The program is made up of four periods. So, it consist of activities to create and share modern poetry with others on the themes of forming a rapport with the environment. This activity can learners to create modern poetry based on understanding of self, understanding of others, and recognizing and understanding of the environment. Through this program, learners expressed their feelings about the environment through modern poetry and through the analysis of their creative works, they are able to identify changes in their attitudes toward the environment. Learners expressed various emotion and affect such as ‘building relationships with others’, ‘rediscovering the beauty of the environment’, and ‘worrying about the present and future of environment’. This discussion clarifies the problem of ecological sensitivity and emphasize the need for a new concept of ecological sensitivity. Additionally, the program ‘My Environmental Independent Poetry’ is organized and the results are analyzed to identify its effectiveness. However, the concept of ‘ecological affect’ cannot be considered clearly established academically, so it needs to be supplemented through additional research. The significance of this study is that it sought a way to combine environmental education and contemporary poetry education.
