초록

Objectives：The aim of this study was to compare object relations and parenting behavior in depression group with normal control group. Methods：The present study included 58 Depression patients and 65 healthy individuals. 43 items of Parenting Behavior Inventory (PBI) measure the eight parenting behavior subscales. 45 items of Bell Object Relation Inventory (BORI) measure the four object relations subscales. Results：Compared to the normal control group, all object relation subscales were significantly higher in depression group. In parenting behaviors, depression group perceived both of their parents as more intrusive, neglectful and less affectionate than those of the normal control group. Depression group perceived their father less reasoning, more abusive and their mother less monitory.
In depression group, Object Relation subscales were explained by different parenting behaviors. Conclusion：This study suggests a significant difference in object relation between depression group and normal control group. Some parenting behaviors, which we expected as important parenting factors in depression, show significant differences among groups between depression and normal control. In depression group, negative parenting behaviors such as maternal intrusiveness, and paternal intrusiveness, neglect, physical abuse might correlate with object relations.
