초록

브라질은 바이오에탄올 강국이다. 국내에 대규모 바이오에탄올 생산 및 소비시장을 가지고 있고 수출도 가능하다. 바이오에탄올의 생산과 판매는 독자적으로 결정되는 것이 아니라, 많은 변수들이 상호작용을 통해 결정되는 복잡한 과정이다. 따라서 정부, 생산자, 소비자 모두에게 바이오에탄올에 대한 세부정보가 더 많이 있으면 있을수록 더욱 생산적이고 효율적인 선택을 할 수 있게 된다.
이번 연구는 바이오에탄올 분야 중에서 2003-2015년 사이 쌍빠울루 지역에서 거래된 바이오에탄올 가격을 분석한다. 가격데이터를 바탕으로, 경제이론이나 배경과 상관없이, 전적으로 시계열자료에 대한 데이터 분석만을 하고자 한다. 먼저 구간별로 나눠 추세를 추정하고, 각 구간의 추세를 비교하여 특정구간별로 추세변화의 유무를 확인하여 그 결과를 제시한다. 이어서 ARIMA 모델을 통해 시계열자료의 자기상관적 특성을 검토하여, 바이오에탄올 현재 가격과 전기(前期) 가격 사이의 관계를 확인한다. 그 다음으로 VECM 모형을 바탕으로 바이오에탄올과 설탕간의 상관관계, 즉 인과관계를 살펴본다.
이번 연구결과, 연구대상 기간 중, 2011년을 전후하여 가격추세가 양분될 수 있다는 점을 발견하였고, 크게 강하지 않은 자기상관성과 일정기간 지속되는 자기상관성도 확인되었다. 그리고 전체 기간을 대상으로 한 인과관계는 양방향 영향도 무시할 수는 없지만, 전반적으로 바이오에탄올에서 설탕가격 방향으로의 영향력이 더 강한 것으로 나타났다.

영어초록

Brazil is one of the leading nations in the bioethanol sector. As well as having a large domestic market for bioethanol production and consumption, Brazil also can export lt. There are many complex processes and variables such as petroleum, sugar, greenhouse gases that affect the bio-etanhol production, consumption and price. So they can not be decided independently from those variables. Therefore, it is needed more detailed researches and information on bioethanol for government, enterprise and consumer to make more informed and effective decision.
This article aims to analyze the price fluctuation of Bioethanol in Sao Paulo during the period of 2003-2015. Based on the bioethanol time-series data, this study does not consider theories or the background of bioethanol sector, but concentrates on the econometric analysis instead.
Firstly, this article will examine the trend on the entire period (2003-2015). It will do so by finding changes between the trends, dividing it into sub-periods and then estimating each trend of sub-periods. By comparing the estimated results of each period, the differences between each sub-periods can be found. These differences are sure to prompt question such as: How did these differences happen? And what cause them? Secondly the article analyzes data using the ARIMA model to find the autocorrelation in bioethanol price. This analysis will present the characteristic of the price fluctuation and show the relationship of prices between the present and the past.
Finally, the article will uses the VECM model to find out the causal relationship of prices between bioethanol and sugar to answer questions such as: Which one affects the other more strongly? And what will be the direction of effect from one to the other.
Through the analysis of this article, it was found that the change of trend did occur, and it could be divided the entire period into 2 sub-periods around 2011. There is also autocorrelation, not being too strong between the present and the past. And the causal relationship between ethanol and sugar during this entire period had a bidirectional effect in some lags. However ultimately, it was found that the effect from bioethanol to sugar is more common and much stronger.
