근현대 시기 호남 우도지역 연예농악의역사적 전개 양상과 그 역사적 의미 (The Historical Context and Implications of the Honam Udo Regional Entertainment Nongak)

초록

이 글은 우도(右道)지역 농악의 전문 연예화(演藝化)가 시작된 실증적 시기로 보고, 연구의 시간적 범위를 사실적 증빙이 가능한 1930년대를 시점으로 해서 2000년대 직전까지 호남(湖南) 우도지역에서의 농악변천사(農樂變遷史)를 고찰하였다.
이 연구서의 기술은 크게 네 부분으로 골격을 형성하고 있다. 첫째, 근현대 호남 우도지역 연예농악의 역사적 전개과정을 시대를 가름할 만한 상징적인 현상과 함께 시대를 나누어 정리하고 해석하였다. 둘째, 우도지역 농악의 형성과 전개에 절대적 영향을 끼친 공연자와 공연집단을 규명하고, 그 상호 영향 관계 및 전승, 전파양상을 분석 정리하였다. 셋째는 우도지역에서 출현한 연예농악의 공연양식적 유형들을 당대 사회문화적 상황과 그 안에서의 존재양상과 더불어 분석하였다. 넷째, 앞순서에서 전개한 연구결과를 종합해서 우도지역 연예농악의 체계를 수립하고 그 역사적 의미를 정립하였다.
연구 결과는 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 근대의 출발로부터 해방 직전까지는 우도지역 농악역사에서 연예농악 형태의 농악 공연문화 형성시기라고 할 수 있다. 이 시기의 우도지역 전문 농악단체의 농악은 군악(軍樂) 성격을 강조한 내용과 공연 논리로 구성한 공연이 주를 이루었던 것으로 보인다.
둘째, 해방 이후부터 1960년대 직전까지의 시대는 농악사에서 연예농악의 양식화 및 정형화의 출발시기라고 할 수 있다. 이 시기 농악과 관련해서 나타난 상징적인 문화 사건은 농악경연대회(農樂競演大會)의 출현이다.
셋째, 1960년~1980년의 시간대는 초기 문화산업형 농악 공연양식의 출현과 이와 관련된 향유문화가 형성된 시기로 규정할 수 있다. 이 시간대에 농악 관련한 문화적 사건은 여성농악단(女性農樂團)의 흥망성쇠, 남성농악단(男性農樂團)의 쇠락, 산업근대화의 침투로 인한 전반적인 민속 예술양식의 추락이라고 할 수 있다.
넷째, 1980년대 중반 이후부터 2000년대가 도래하기 직전까지의 시대는 무형문화재(無形文化財) 제도와 지역 중심주의에 따라 지자체 기준으로 범주화, 고착화 되는 경향을 낳았다. 1980년 이전까지만 해도 ‘우도농악’(右道農樂)이라는 포괄적 이름으로 불렸던 농악이 문화재제도의 직접적 영향권에 들면서 ‘김제농악’(金堤農樂), ‘정읍농악’(井邑農樂) 등의 지자체 행정단위를 거점으로 삼게 되었으며 그 주요 원인의 하나가 무형문화재제도가 미친 영향이다.

영어초록

This study is aimed at setting up a historical system from the formative years of professional nongak 農樂, which is handed down in the Honam 湖南 region.
The reason why it is necessary to have a coherent look at the performance of Udo Local Entertainment Nongak (右道演藝農樂) is because today, it is possible to trace the social and cultural factors that led to the comprehensive performance style of Udo County Nongak (右道農樂). In addition, if one systematically understands the historical developments of the farmers' band, then an important part of the modern history of nongak can be identified so that the outline of the nongak from the past to the present can be completed.
The content of this study results report and the technical system form the framework in four main parts. First, the performance, culture, and history phenomena that can distinguish the times of the performance, were explained and explained in context.
In the second order, we consider the interrelationships and propagation process of performers and groups that had an overwhelming influence on the formation and development of nongak in Udo Region.
The third order analyzes the style types of entertainment nongak, which have emerged in the Udo region, by comparing them with social and cultural aspects and form characteristics.
The fourth order sets up the meaning of the study results by observing the system of entertainment nongak in Udo Region and the historical significance of Nongak. The results of the study are as follows.
First, from the start of the modern era to the brink of liberation, it can be said that it is time to form an artistic nongak performance culture in the history of Udo nongak 右道農樂.
Second, the period of from the post-independent to the pre-1960s era was the start of the formalization and coformalization of the popular nongak band in the history of nongak.
Third, the period of 1960～1980 can be defined as the time when the early style of cultural industrial nongak performance was born and the associated culture of enjoyment was formed.
The emergence of female nongak bands known as Yŏsŏng nongaktan 女性農樂團 is a transformative phenomenon that contrasts the weakened condition of the local nongak in the Udo area and the dynamic performance activities of professional male nongak band performers sparked by the contest.
Fourth, the period from the mid-1980s to the immediate end of the 2000s tended to be the regional classification and stylization by the intangible cultural assets system and regionalism.
Nongak, which was generally referred to as udo nongak until 1980, was directly influenced by cultural assets, so it was recognized as being style of local governments’ administrative units as like Kimje nongak 金堤農樂 or Chŏngŭp nongak 井邑農樂, so on.
The style of nongak in Udo region between 1980 and 2000 can be summarized as ‘cultural asset type’. And the performance style, despite its strong regionalism, shows a weak diversity in real.
