사립대학 학생수와 비용 및 수익의 관계 분석 (A Study on the Relationship between the Size of a Private University and Revenue-cost in Korea.)

초록

본 연구의 목적은 사립대학의 재학생수와 비용 및 수익의 관계를 분석하여, 지금까지 립대학이 열악한 재정상태를 해결하기 위해 취해온 입학정원 확대방식이 과연 사립대학의 순수익을 증대시키고 있는가, 즉 효과적이었는가를 검토해보는 것이다. 나아가 재학생수의 규모의 경제성을 분석해봄으로써 재학생 증원이 사립대학 수익비용 차액 측면에서 효과적인가를 밝혀내고자 하는 것이다.
분석결과는 다음과 같다. 전체대학은 재학생수와 수익비용 차액에서 부정적이었다. 대규모·중규모·소규모 대학의 분석결과, 대규모대학은 재학생수와 수익비용 차액의 관계에서 규모의 비경제성을, 소규모대학은 재학생수와 수익비용 차액의 관계에서 규모의 경제성을 보이고 있었다. 중규모대학은 재학생수와 학생수익비용 차액의 관계에서 규모의 경제성을, 재학생수와 운영수익비용 차액의 관계, 재학생수와 총수익비용 차액의 관계에서 규모의 비경제성을 나타냈다.
사립대학은 자율적인 정원 억제 정책을 사용해야 할 것이며, 구조조정을 실시하는데 있어서 규모의 경제성은 중요한 판단 준거가 되어야 할 것이다.

영어초록

The purposes of this study are to develop model of the relationship between the size of a private university and revenue-cost, to verify the relationship between the size of a private university and revenue-cost, and to determine the optimal size of a private university.
This study examines whole private university in Korea exactly the one hundred twenty four subjects include a large, middle, small scale private university.
These cases private university as analysis are a statement of accounts between 1999 and 2004.
The followings are the major findings from the relationship between the size of private university and revenue-cost.
First, a tendency of the relationship between the size of private university and revenue-cost, it is analyzed that relationship in the negative between size of the whole private university and three revenue-cost. Second, it is analyzed that relationship in the negative between size of a large scale private university and three revenue-cost. Third, it is analyzed that relationship in the positive between size of a small scale private university and three revenue-cost. fourth, it is analyzed that relationship in the positive between size of a middle scale private university and student revenue-cost, in the negative between size of a middle scale private university and operation revenue-cost and total revenue-cost.
The suggestions to Korean private university policy and the number limit management of a private university drawn from the finding of this study are as follows. First, the result of this study justifies the way of restructuring of a private university that decline the size of private university on the whole. Second, when it starts to check of management efficiency of private university, it is important to check whether the size of private university satisfies as scale economics.
