유아 수와 연산 교육 실태와 교사 인식 조사 (A survey study on teacher's perceptions of educational status of number and operations for young children)

초록

본 연구는 수와 연산 교육이 유치원에서 어떻게 이루어지고 있는지에 대한 실태 조사와 이에 대한 교사의 인식 조사를 목적으로 하며, 이를 위해 D광역시에 소재한 유치원 교사 208명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 연구 결과, 수와 연산 교육 실태 영역에서 유치원 교사들은 교육 계획을 수립할 때 생활주제에 따라 계획하였으며, 누리과정 지도서를 많이 활용하고 있었다. 지도 방법은 자유선택활동 시간을 통해 교사가 지도하는 것으로 나타났으며, 교육 평가는 수업 중 교사의 관찰평가를 통해 실시하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 교육 내용은 ‘수세기’를 가장 많이 지도하고 있었으며, ‘수세기’교육 자료를 가장 많이 보유하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 수와 연산 교육 인식 영역에서는 교육 내용 중 ‘수세기’를 중요하게 인식하고 있었으며, 교육 내용의 목표 달성을 위한 활동 선정을 중요하게 인식하고 있었다. 교육 계획을 할 때 누리과정 지도서가 유용하다고 인식하였으며, 지도 방법은 자유선택활동시간을 통해 교사가 지도하는 것이 효과적이라고 인식하였다. 이러한 연구 결과로 누리과정 지도서의 수학교육 내용이 위계성을 고려하여 구성되어져야 함을 알 수 있으며, 수와 연산 교육을 위한 체계적인 프로그램 개발과 교구 보급이 요구됨을 알 수 있다.

영어초록

The purpose of this study is to identify the status on how the education of number and operations, which has been emphasized as a core content in early childhood education, is being conducted at the present time when light is being shed on the importance of mathematics again through teachers' perceptions. The results of this study will be used as the basic data for the development of number and operations programs for young children. For this study, a questionnaire survey was conducted by selecting 208 teachers of public and private kindergartens located in D Metropolitan City. The results of this study are as follows: Kindergarten teachers made plans based on life themes when establishing education plans in the area of number and operations education and used the Nuri curriculum guidebooks (national level guidebooks) most commonly. They also taught number and operations during free-choice activity times and conducted educational evaluations through observation and evaluation during class. The educational content that has been most commonly taught was 'counting', and the teaching materials that teachers used most commonly were also about 'counting'; there were significant differences in these results depending on teacher variables (type of kindergarten, teaching career, and academic background). 'Counting' out of educational contents was recognized as being important. In the area of the awareness of number and arithmetic operations, and the selection of activity to achieve the goal of educational contents was being recognized as being important when selecting educational activities. Nuri curriculum guidebooks wererecognized as being useful when making plans for education. Teaching through free-choice activity times was recognized as an effective way, showing significant differences depending on teacher variables (type of kindergarten, teaching career, and academic background). Regarding the matters that should be complemented in teaching number and arithmetic operations, the teachers through that the content of mathematics education should be arranged more hierarchically, and regarded the lack of systematic programs as a difficulty in teaching number and operations. These results indicate that the contents of mathematics education should be arranged, taking into consideration the hierarchy of the contents of mathematics education of Nuri curriculum guidebooks, and that the development of systematic programs the education of number and arithmetic operations and the distribution of teaching materials are needed.
