한국도서(섬)학회의 지속가능한 사회적 책임과 역할 분석을 통한 발전 방향 연구 (A Study on the Direction of Development through the Analysis of Sustainable Social Responsibility and Role of the Korean Association of Islands)

초록

본 연구는 미래 한국도서(섬)학회의 지속가능한 시‧공간적인 활동과 사업내용을 정하기 전에 우리나라 도서(섬) 관련 전국 학회로서 수행해야 할 사회적 책임과 역할을 문헌적으로 탐구하였다. 이것은 도서(섬) 지역사회에 대한 학자로서의 책임뿐만 아니라 한국도서(섬)학회의 회장 및 편집위원장으로서의 의무에 대한 평가로 나타난 결과이며, 적응과정이라고 할 수 있다. 본 연구가 목적으로 했던 한국도서(섬)학회의 사회적 책임과 역할은 종합 학문으로서 경제학, 사회학, 지리학, 물리학, 그리고 ICT 관련 학문분과 등 광범위한 학문분야에서 다양한 이론과 방법론이 도입되어야 하는 측면에서 제시하였다. 또한 한국도서(섬)학회가 도서(섬) 지역이라는 특정 지역에 대해 종합적이고 체계적인 연구를 수행하는 것으로 도서(섬) 지역주민의 정체성을 확립하는데 기초가 되는 학문영역이라는 점에서 특히, 다른 학회와 구별되는 도서(섬) 지역의 뿌리를 찾는 작업을 시작으로 해서 도서(섬) 지역의 정체성을 찾아 지역주민에게 자긍심과 애향심을 고취시켜 궁극적으로 도서(섬) 지역발전의 견인차 역할을 담당하는 것이 그 기본 역할이라고 할 수 있다.
오늘날 도서학(島嶼學)은 도서(섬) 지역을 만들고 변화시켜 온 역사적 과정을 이해하고, 그 기반 위에서 보다 나은 지역의 미래를 모색하는 종합적인 학문 영역이라는 측면에서 본 연구는 한국도서(섬)학회의 사회적 책임과 역할을 여섯 가지로 제시하였다. 그 내용은, 첫째, 도서(섬) 지역 통합가(Integrator) 혹은 사업관리자(Project Manager)로서의 역할, 둘째, 도서학(島嶼學) 아카이브의 수요와 공급체계 조정자(coordinator)로서의 역할, 셋째, 도서(섬) 지역 발전 촉진자(Expeditor)로서의 역할, 넷째, 도서(섬) 관광지의 매력성 평가에 따른 관광자원 개발방향 제시의 역할, 다섯째, 도서(섬) 지역 발전의 비전 제시 및 리더(Leader)로서의 역할, 여섯째, 타 산업 및 관계기관과의 연대자(Collaborator)로서의 역할이다.

영어초록

This study investigated the social responsibilities and roles to be performed as by a national society related to islands of Korea before deciding on future activities and projects of the Korean Association of Islands. This is the result of evaluating not only the responsibility of scholars to the island communities but also the duty of chairman and editor of the Korean Association of Islands. The social responsibility and role of the Korean Association of Islands, which is the purpose of this study, is a comprehensive piece of research in that various theories and methodologies should be introduced in a wide range of disciplines, including economics, sociology, geography, physics, and ICT-related disciplines. It was, in addition, the basic role of the Korean Association of Islands to conduct a comprehensive and systematic study of specific areas called the islands. In particular, the basic role should be to find the roots of island areas that are distinguished from other societies in that they are the academic areas that are the foundation for establishing the identity of island residents. Through this, it is necessary to find the identity of islands area and inspire local residents with pride and affection for their insular homes. Ultimately, the basic role is to be the driving force for island development.
Today's island science is a comprehensive field of study that understands the historical processes that have created and transformed island areas and seeks to build a better future for island areas. In this respect, this study presented six social responsibilities and roles of the Korean Association of Islands. The contents roles, and duties for consideration are as follows: first, the role of island integrators or project managers; second, the role of the coordinator of the supply and demand system of island science archives; third, it serves as an expeditor for island development; then, it is the role of suggesting the direction of tourism resource development based on the attractiveness evaluation of island tourist spots; next, it serves as a visionary and leader of island development; and finally, it has a role as a collaborator with other industries and related organizations.
