진화론적 관점으로 본 문화콘텐츠의 발생 (The Occurrence of Culture Contents in an Evolutionary Perspective)

초록

문화콘텐츠는 발생 초기부터 연구가 활발히 진행되었으나 갑자기 대두된 문화콘텐츠의 실체를 탐색하고 어떻게 수용할 것인가 하는 당면과제에 한정된 경향이 있었다. 문화콘텐츠의 발생에 대해서도 용어 사용의 주체가 정부였던 탓에 산업 및 정책의 필요 또는 기술 요인으로 문제의식 없이 받아들여 온 것도 사실이다. 최근 일각에서는 그간 논의를 재론하며 다양한 방법으로 그 본질을 밝히려는 시도가 나타나고있다. 본고는 이와 같은 맥락에서 문화콘텐츠와 그 용어의 발생 배경을 살펴보았다.
문화콘텐츠가 여타의 문화예술과 같은 ‘사회적 산물’이라는 입장에서 코흐의 진화론적 기호학 모형을 대입하여 문화콘텐츠의 발생을 분석하였다. 예술이 탄생한 시기부터 대중문화와 문화콘텐츠를 둘러싼 외적 및 내적 변동 사항을 통시적으로 살펴본결과, 새로운 문화예술이 형성될 때에는 문화예술 생산 시스템이라는 근원적 변화가공통적으로 나타났다. 이전의 문화예술이 새로운 문화예술 발생에 메타 발생 요인으로 작동함에 있어 특정 속성은 심화 또는 대립 양상을 보이는가 하면 전혀 새로운형질이 나타나기도 하였다. 이때에 사회문화적으로 이전의 문화예술과 구분해야할 뚜렷한 필요성이 요구되면 문화예술 용어의 개념이 새롭게 형성되는 것을 알수 있었다. 이러한 문화예술의 발생을 토대로 문화콘텐츠의 발생 배경을 돌아보면, 그 역시 다른 문화예술과 마찬가지로 예술 생산 시스템이 수용자 중심으로 변화하였다. 디지털 기술의 영향으로 이전에는 없었던 네트워크, 하이퍼링크, 상호작용성과같이 새로운 속성이 나타남에 따라 대중문화와의 구분도 필요해졌다. 이에 문화콘텐츠라는 새로운 용어와 개념이 태동한 것으로 판단된다.

영어초록

Cultural contents are gaining a lot of attention as it becomes increasingly important from an industrial, political and academic aspect. As a result, active related research has been completed since the first appearance of culture contents. However, the culture contents were limited to urgent matters such as exploring the nature of the suddenly rising culture contents and how to embrace them. As for the reason of the appearance of culture contents, people have accepted the need in industry, policies and/or technology without question since the main agent of the use of the term was the government. Recently, some review the discussion of culture contents and try to determine the nature in an extended view.
This research examined the background of the occurrence of culture contents and the terminology. It analyzed the causes of the occurrence of culture contents from the footing of social product as arts and popular culture, putting it in the evolutionary semiotic model of Koch. The external and internal changes surrounding popular culture and culture contents since the birth of arts were studied diachronically. As a result, it was confirmed that the arts production system changed when new cultural art forms, rather than the changes in the time or development of technology. In addition, when previous cultural art acts as a factor for meta-formation, some properties intensify, conflict, or create new properties. If the new art needs to be clearly separated from the previous cultural art, a new terminology is formed for the new cultural art, as well as the concept.
The background of culture contents was also studied based on the above noted text.
Cultural contents, as well as other cultural arts, changed the art production system around the users. Additionally, it was necessary to separate it from popular culture, as new properties such as network, hyperlink, and interactions, which had not existed, were formed under the influence of digital technology. It is assumed that this is how new terminology for culture contents for med, as well as the concept of it.
The research included discusses the background of the evolution of culture contents based on a comparison with the characteristics of arts and popular culture in an evolutionary perspective. The significance of the research is that it clearly distinguished and systemized the difference between culture contents and other cultural arts.
