남성 마약류 중독자의 애착 외상으로 인한 중독과 회복 경험에 관한 근거이론 연구 (A Grounded Theory Study on Attachment Trauma-Induced Addiction and Recovery Experiences in Male Drug Addicts)

초록

본 연구는 어린 시절과 성장기에 주요 양육자로부터 애착 외상을 경험한 남성 마약류 중독자들의 마약류 중독과정과 회복과정에 관한 근거이론 연구이다. 연구에서는남성 마약류 중독자들이 경험한 애착 외상과 마약 중독과의 관계를 구조적으로 제시하고자 하였으며, 마약류 중독에서 회복 역시 손상된 애착의 재구성이 어떠한 맥락에서 중독에서의 회복에 이르게 되었는지를 분석하고자 하였다. 연구의 목적은 연구참여자들이 경험한 애착 외상과 마약류 중독과 애착 재구성으로 인한 중독회복 경험을설명할 수 있는 실천 이론을 생성함으로써 중독과 애착을 이해할 수 있는 기초자료를얻는 것이다. 연구참여자는 이론적 표집으로 마약류 중독에서 회복된 남성 9명을 선정하였고, 1 대 1 심층 면담을 수행하여 자료를 수집하였다. 수집된 자료는 Corbin과Strauss(2014)가 제시한 근거이론 연구방법에 따라 분석하였다. 자료 분석 결과 53개의 개념, 19개의 하위 범주, 6개의 범주가 도출되었다. 범주는 애착 외상, 마약 중독, 마약 중독에서 회복까지의 조건과 과정, 작용/상호 작용으로 분석하였다. 그리고 이러한 범주들을 연구하고자 하는 상황에 따라 각 수준의 관계를 조건, 작용/상호작용, 결과, 매트릭스에 배열하였다. 본 연구의 연구 결과에 의하면 연구참여자들의 마약류 사용과 중독은 어린 시절 불안정 애착과 애착의 상실로 인한 상처로부터 회피 과정이었으며, 마약류 중독에서 회복 역시 새로운 대상과 애착을 재구성함으로써 회복의 힘을배양하였다. 마지막으로 핵심범주에서는 숨어 우는 상처 입은 아이의 자기 존재의 부활로 제시하였다. 연구 결과에 근거하여 애착 외상과 마약류 중독 그리고 애착의 재구성과 마약류 중독에서의 회복에 관한 논의를 하였다. 또한, 교정시설에 수감 된 마약류 중독자의 회복을 돕기 위한 애착 회복 프로그램 개발을 제언하였다.

영어초록

This study utilizes grounded theory methodology to examine the path of addiction and recovery in male individuals with drug dependence, who experienced attachment trauma from a primary caregiver during their childhood and developmental years. The study aims to systematically propose the connection between attachment trauma and drug addiction among male drug addicts. It also seeks to analyze how the reconstruction of impaired attachment contributes to the recovery process from drug addiction, within the context of addiction recovery. The purpose of the study is to gather fundamental information to enhance comprehension of addiction and attachment. This will be achieved by constructing a practice theory that explains the experiences of research participants with attachment trauma, drug addiction, and the process of recovering from addiction, all within the context of attachment reformation. Selected through theoretical sampling, the participants included nine men who had overcome drug addiction. Data was gathered through in-depth one-on-one interviews. The collected data was analyzed using the grounded theory research methodology as proposed by Corbin and Strauss(2014). The analysis of the data yielded 53 concepts, 19 subcategories, and 6 categories. These categories were examined in relation to attachment trauma, drug addiction, factors and procedures contributing to drug addiction recovery, and interactions and interplays. These categories were subsequently organized into conditions, interactions/interplays, outcomes, and a matrix, determined by their relevance levels to the research context. The findings of this study suggested that the participants’ drug use and addiction were processes of avoidance stemming from childhood experiences of insecure attachment and attachment loss, leading to emotional wounds. Moreover, recovery from drug addiction also nurtured the power of recuperation through the reformation of new targets and attachments. Finally, the core category suggested the resurgence of self-presence of the wounded child who cries in hiding. Based on the research findings, discussions were held regarding attachment trauma, drug addiction, the reconstruction of attachment, and recovery from drug addiction. Additionally, a proposal was made for the development of an attachment recovery program aimed at assisting the recovery of drug addicts confined in correctional facilities.
