칸트 『판단력 비판』에 나타난 취미 판단의 문제 (The Problem of Kant's Critique of Taste in 『Critique of Judgment』)

초록

칸트 미학의 과제는 감정의 미학 즉 쾌, 불쾌의 감정 문제부터 초감성적인 것의 감성적 형식으로서의 미 형식의 목적론적 해명에 이르는 폭 넓은 영역에 가로 놓여 있다. 특히 『판단력 비판』에서다루어지는 취미 판단의 보편성 문제, 취미 판단이 어떻게 주관적이면서 보편적인 공감을 얻을 수있는지는 그의 선험 미학적 과제로 등장한다. 그는 우리의 미적 판단 즉 취미 판단이 단순히 ‘나에게만 아름다운 것’이 아니라는 사태를 무엇을 근거로 하여 알 수 있는가 이를테면 미적 주관성이 어떻게 동시에 미적 보편성과 함께 이야기 될 수 있는가를 증명하고자 한다. 나아가 칸트는 그리 간단한논증은 아니지만 취미 판단이 개념 자체를 무제한적으로 혹은 미감적으로 확장시켜 예지적 이념의능력(이성)을 움직이도록 한다고 주장한다. 따라서 취미의 주관적 원리 즉 우리 안에 있는 초감성적인 것의 비규정적인 이념이 취미능력의 비의(秘義)를 풀 수 있는 열쇠라고 해명한다. 이에 취미 판단에 있어 상상력과 오성의 합목적적 조화를 주관의 모든 능력의 초감성적 기체(基體)라 부르며 이와관련하여 우리의 모든 인식능력을 조화시키는 것이 바로 우리 본성의 예지적인 것에 의해 부여된최종의 목적이라고 천명한다. 칸트의 체계적, 사변적 맥락에서 고찰되는 미학적 결말은 ‘미가 도덕적선의 상징’이라는 주장에서 정점에 이른다. 본 논문에서는 『판단력 비판』에 나타난 취미 판단의 특성과 연역, 변증론을 검토하면서 취미 판단의 보편타당한 원리규명과 그 최종근거로서의 초감성적기체의 설정 그리고 미적 상징성의 내력을 추적함으로써 근대 관념론 미학의 정초자로서 칸트 미학이 갖는 의의를 음미하는데 의미를 두고자 한다.

영어초록

Kant began with the intention to achieve the perfection of his philosophical system, not the direct interest in beauty and art, in the realization of aesthetic theory. Therefore, his aesthetic theory is influenced by his basic philosophical ideas. The significance of the Kantian aesthetic theory can be found by looking at the position of 『Critique of Judgment』 in critique philosophy that is his whole philosophical system.
In 『Critique of Judgment』, Kant attempts to complete his philosophical system by establishing continuity or consonance with the natural world and the moral world. The central point here is judgment, and the only principle of aesthetic judgment lies in the purposiveness ideology of nature and art. According to Kant, aesthetic judgment "includes the principle that judgment is based purely on the basis of his reflection on nature, that is, the principle of formal purposiveness that has regarding our cognitive abilities in accordance with his unique(empirical) laws. Thus, aesthetic judgment mediates between the domain of nature and the domain of freedom through the concept of nature's purposiveness, which enables the transition from the world of lawfulness by the concept of nature to the world of ultimate purpose by the concept of freedom.
For Kant, this is the subjective interpretation of beauty by defining “beauty as not an object, and critique of taste as not a cognitive judgment", and that "if there is no relation to subjective emotions, beauty itself is nothing". Thus, the beauty of any object is now being imposed on the object as a result of being subject to a person's aesthetic consciousness. That is, objects are not displayed as beauty itself, but they are beautiful as long as they are so judged by the human deliberative abilities following natural principles. And Kant's Copernican revolution, namely the conversion from objective interpretation to subjective interpretation of beauty, is one of the greatest features of modern aesthetics. Through Kant's analysis of beauty that is critique of taste, we meet the principle of aesthetic autonomy. He establishes the principle of aesthetic autonomy by distinguishing aesthetic judgment from sensuous judgment and judgment of good. And this principle is based on human sociality and morality, and it is aiming for ideal human community through beauty.
