초록

From 1920's Japanese colonial policy became changed into trying establishing assimilation of Chousen into Japan, based on concrete research into Chousen traditional cultures which Japanese scholars & politicians thought of as essential in establishing colonial policy. The Cabinet to colonial Japanese Government changed the research policy on Chousen traditional cultures into the research based on field work for the purpose of investigating the concrete facts of Chousen society and serving the government of Chousen. Under the changing colonial situations, the Cabinet employed Odauchi Tosimichi as a part-time researcher to research into Chousen's villages. Odauchi asked the researching commoners houses in Chousen of Konwajiro, who Odauchi worked with in researching Japanese commoners houses. The purpose of investigating Chousen's commoners houses to Konwajiro is to inquire the origin of Japanese commoners houses and the original structures of Japanese temples.
Konwajiro majored design in Tokyo Art College and had interested in folklore. From September to October in 1922 Konwajiro researched into Chousen's commoners houses and made a sketch of them. The method influenced into the Korean architect. Kon compared the Japanese commoners houses with those of Chousen and believed that the Japanese commoners houses originated from those of the northern part of Chousen. Kon criticised into the colonial Japanese Government's policy which tried to change the Ondol of Chousen commoners houses. And Kon had interests in the changing aspects of Chousen commoners houses into mixing style into both Chousen and Japanese or changing style into Japanese house.
『Special Survey on Chousen Villages, Vol.1(朝鮮部落調査特別報告 第1冊(民家)』(1924)which was Konwajiro's research into Chousen commoners houses in the early 1920's showed us the changing aspects of Chousen houses.
