Examining Relationships between Job Satisfaction, Organizational Commitment, and Organizational Citizenship Behavior in Korean Ski Resort Employees

The purpose of this study was to examine the relationships between job satisfaction, organizational commitment, and organizational citizenship behavior with the employees drawn from ski resorts in Korea. Data(n=385) for this study were conveniently collected from employees of five ski resorts in Korea. Statistical package of SPSS 13.0 V. and AMOS 6.0 were used for data analysis. Confirmatory factor analysis supported the psychometric properties of each scale used in this study. The results of the structural equation model indicated that (1) both intrinsic and extrinsic satisfaction make an important contribution to organizational commitment, (2)organizational commitment held positive relationships with organizational citizenship behavior, and (3) intrinsic satisfaction had a significant impact on organizational citizenship behavior; however, the relationship between extrinsic satisfaction and organizational citizenship behavior was not significant. Based on the results of the study, managers in ski resort should consider spending more time and effort on cultivating employee’s intrinsic job satisfaction rather than extrinsic job satisfaction as well as organizational commitment in order to achieve a high level of OCB. In addition, both intrinsic and extrinsic job satisfaction should be equally addressed in order to enhance employees' organizational commitment.
