장기실종아동을 둔 부모들의 상실경험에 관한 연구 (A Study on the experience of loss among parents with a long-term missing children)

초록

본 연구는 실종아동 부모들의 상실경험에 대한 이해와 그들의 경험 과정을 총체적인 입장에서 살펴보기 위해 질적 연구 중에서 근거이론(Grounded theory) 연구방법을 선택하였다.
연구결과 205개의 개념과 49개의 하위범주와 12개의 범주로 정리하였으며, 이 범주들을 패러다임에 의해 재구성하여 중심현상으로 ‘절망’을 상정하였고, 코딩결과 핵심범주가 ‘절망 속에서 새희망의 불씨찾기’로 나타났다. 또한 유형을 분석한 결과 순응형 ․ 주도형 ․ 촉구형 ․ 전환형 등 4가지로 분류되었으며, 부모의 상실경험 과정은 시간의 흐름에 따라 ‘인지단계’, ‘찾기단계’, ‘좌절의 단계’, ‘재기단계’, ‘새희망의 단계’ 등 5단계로 변화를 보였다. 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로 학문적 ․ 실천적 함의를 제시하였다. 학문적인 함의로는 실종부모들은 깊은 절망 속에서 새희망을 찾아가는 점을 발견하였으며, 자녀실종으로 인한 절망이 장기화 되는 원인을 밝혀 냈고, 부모들이 자녀 찾는 의미도 재조명할 수 있었으며, 남은 자녀들이 부모가 절망에서 재기 할 수 있는 자극제 역할을 한다는 점과 실종으로 인한 상실의 다양하고 복잡한 속성을 분석해냈다. 또한 실천적인 함의로는 실종부모들을 위해 빠른 시일 내 전문적인 상담서비스의 조기제공 및 확대실시 방안이 모색되어야만 하며, 상처받은 치유자의 역할로서 상호간 치유의 효과를 얻을 수 있는 이상적인 지지체계 연결 프로그램과 가족 탄력성 향상 프로그램을 개발 활용해야 한다고 강조했다. 특히 부모들의 쓰라린 찾기 경험을 활용할 수 있는 찾기 시스템에 도입할 수 있는 방법 등 종합적인 측면에서 실종아동 문제를 접근해야 한다는 점을 밝혀냈다.

영어초록

This study attempts to understand the experience of loss among parents with a long-term missing children and to observe the process from the parents' overall perspectives. It also attempts to analyze and derive specific meaning to their attitude toward life. In addition, this study was carried out with the goal of developing a substantive theory: Basic material can be used for providing strategic implementation towards the field of social welfare. More specifically, the Grounded Theory was chosen among the numerous qualitative research methods.
The results were organized into 205 concepts, 12 categories, and 49 sub-categories. These categories were restructured by the paradigm, and "despair" was introduced as the central phenomenon. After the coding, the core category result was designated as “finding the light of new hope in the midst of despair.“ In addition, the hypothesis was set on the basis of a relationship that repeatedly occurred during the process of data analysis. Four different types of results were analyzed: adapting, leading, pressing, and type of conversation. The process analysis showed five different stages over a course of time: ”stage of recognition“, ”stage of looking for the child“, ”stage of despair“, ”stage of comeback“, and "stage of new hope." Based on the study results, some academic and practical implications were presented.
Academic implications show parents in deep despair from loss of their child searching for hope, reveal the reasons for the long-term despair caused by the missing child, relight the meaning behind the parents searching for their missing child, recognize the older or younger child as a stimulants to the parents to recover from despair, and analyze diverse and complex properties of despair from the disappearance of a child. Such methods reveal a comprehensive approach of introducing systematic ways to utilize the parent's suffering from attempting to find their missing child, in order to ultimately solve the problems caused by missing children that the parents suffer. In addition, the practical implications suggest the measures to consider while offering early professional counseling for the parents, and emphasize utilizing support programs and family resilience development programs to act as a mutual healing outlet for the wounded family.
