대학생들의 다학제 팀워크를 통한 적정기술 프로젝트 사례연구 (A Case Study of the Appropriate Technology Project with Multidisciplinary Teamwork of College Students)

초록

이 연구는 이․공학, 인문 및 사회과학 전공 대학생들이 다학제 팀워크를 통해 저개발국 혹은 개발도상국에 적용할 수 있는 적정기술을 개발하는 프로젝트 사례이다. 프로젝트에 참여한 14명의 팀원들은 2012년 9월~2013년 2월에 걸쳐 문헌연구, 전문가협의회(SME), 워크샵, 개발연구, 성과발표회를 수행하였다.
이 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다.
첫째, 팀원들은 적정기술과 관련된 문헌 고찰을 통해 적정기술에 대한 동향을 탐색하고, 상호집단작용법을 통하여 적정기술의 다양성에 대해 논의하였다.
둘째, 자료 조사를 통하여 저개발국 또는 개발도상국 현지의 문제점을 도출하고, 상기 문제점을 해결하기 위한 적정기술 제품 5종(유모차, 이동식 화로, 과일주서기, 침낭, 목초액 장치)을 설계하고 전용 매뉴얼을 개발하였다.
셋째, 설계된 적정기술 제품은 적정기술 전문가 및 이공계열 대학교수, 변리사, NGO 담당자로 구성된 10명의 전문가협의회를 통하여 실현가능성, 현지적용가능성, 사회문제해결가능성, 일자리창출, 지속가능한 발전가능성으로 구성된 5가지 영역에 대한 안면 및 내용타당도를 검증 받았다.
넷째, 팀원들은 전국 단위의 성과발표회를 개최하여 프로젝트의 결과물을 일반 대중들에게 발표하였고, 일반인들의 참여만족도는 평균 3.88점(5점 만점)으로 나타났다.
다섯째, 연구자들은 프로젝트에 참여한 팀원을 대상으로 Neil과 Michael(1998)이 개발한 팀분위기목록(Team Climate Inventory)을 번안하여 재구조화한 문항(14개 문항)과 자유보고식 문항(4개 문항)으로 구성된 설문지를 전수 조사하여 팀원들이 경험한 다학제 팀워크에 대한 인식을 총체적으로 파악하였다.
이 연구를 통해 공학교육에서 다학제 팀워크의 적용가능성을 알아보고 효과적인 팀워크를 위한 실천적인 대안을 마련하여 공학교육이 궁극적으로 추구하고자 하는 교육목표를 논의할 수 있는 정초를 마련하였다.

영어초록

The present study is a case study that college undergraduate students majoring in Science, Engineering, Liberal Arts, and Social Sciences use a multidisciplinary teamwork to develop appropriate technology and apply to underdeveloped countries or developing countries. 14 college students participated in this project and worked on literature research, development research, attending workshops, getting advice from Subject Matter Expert (SME), and presenting the conference from September of 2012 to February of 2013. This study is proceeded as the following detailed description.
Firstly, the students explored the trend of appropriate technology by doing literature research, and they discussed about the diversity of appropriate technology through group interaction.
Secondly, they deduct the local problems in underdeveloped countries or developing countries through literature research, and they designed five products of appropriate technology and created the manual to solve the problems above.
Thirdly, ten professionals, such as appropriate technology specialists, professors from college of science and engineering, patent agents, and NGO managers, verified the face validity and content validity of these products of appropriate technology about the five areas of the following: the viability of products, the possibility of applying to locals, the possibility of solving social problems, job creation, and the possibility of continuous developing.
Fourthly, the students held the national conference and presented the results of the project to audience, and the rate of the satisfaction evaluation evaluated by the audience was 3.88 points (out of 5) in average.
Fifthly, the researchers adapted the Team Climate Inventory created by Neil and Michael (1998) and surveyed the students using the restructured questions (16 questions) and the description questions (5 questions) from the Team Climate Inventory in order to understand the overall awareness of the multidisciplinary teamwork.
Throughout this study, we expected to discover the possibility of applying the multidisciplinary teamwork in engineering education. Furthermore, we attempted to create a foundation that we could discuss about the education objective that engineering education ultimately seeks by arranging a practical alternative for effective teamwork.
