교육적 체험의 특징과 내재적 가치

초록

인간은 인간과 세계를 이해하고자 하는 존재론적 성향이 있으며, 교육학자는 ``교육``이라는 고유한 대상 세계를 이해하고 설명하는데 필요한 독자적인 이론체계를 구축하기 위해 노력해야 한다. 본 연구에서는 ``교육``이라는 용어의 개념을 생활세계에서의 상식적 의미와 동일시하거나 타학문들에 의존하는 학교 연구의 개념으로 환원하는 오류를 경계하면서, 다른 활동들과 구별될 수 있는 ``교육적 체험``의 고유한 특징과 그 내재적 가치의 탐색에 초점을 맞추었다. 그러나 교육활동은 ``수도계``를 소재로 발현, 작동하기 때문에, ``수도계의 내재적 가치``와 ``교육의 내재적 가치`` 간에는 개념적 혼란이 있을 수 있으며, 이러한 혼란은 교육에 대한 이해를 어렵게 만드는 장애 요인이 된다. 이러한 문제의식과 탐구주제를 바탕으로, 먼저 인문학의 전통에서 중요하게 여겨져 온 ``체험``의 개념을 살펴보고, 다음으로 교육이라는 인간 활동의 발생조건을 검토하였다. 그리고 이러한 논의를 바탕으로 ``교육적 체험의 특징``과 ``교육적 체험의 내재적 가치``에 대해 탐색해보았다.

영어초록

Human beings inherently possess an ontological, primordial predisposition to understand themselves and the social world they inhabit. Educational researchers, accordingly, have to try to construct their own theoretical frameworks in order to understand and explain what is called the ``educational phenomenon`` in the ordinary world. In this study, therefore, with a caution against both the fallacy of the common-sense approach, which inadvertently identifies the concept of education with the mundane one and the fallacy of regarding any forms of research on ``schooling`` in the numerous fields of ``mother-disciplines`` as methodologically warranted, we closely examined the nature and the intrinsic values of ``educative experience`` itself which can be discriminated conceptually from the other forms of human experiences in the social world. Educational actions take place with a variety of educative substances in ``the transcendental world``. Therefore, the conceptual confusion between ``the intrinsic values of a transcendental world`` and those of ``an educational world`` may generate a serious obstacle to the understanding of educational actions. Based on this self-reflection, we inquired into the conception of ``experience``, which constituted the very subject-matter in the tradition of human sciences, and the foundational conditions for the unique mode of human action called education. The nature of ``educative experience`` encompasses such significant features as the active manifestations of talents, the totality of negation, the temporal dimension of mutual compromise, and the improvisational creativity in the process of education. An analysis of the intrinsic values of educative experiences revealed a number of essential characteristics: a unique, renewed mode of human relationship between the mentor and the mentee, an in-depth understanding of the concepts of ascending-descending activities, a heuristic quality of intrinsic interests in the process of teaching-learning activities, and a commitment to the development of the transcendental world itself.
