To what extent does each sector of the sport industry contribute to the ‘value of sport’?

In our lives, sports have been regarded as one of the most important part. People can participate in sports directly, but people can also enjoy it as spectators (Simon, 1985). Through sports, people can learn many different things that cannot be achieved from other activities. Sport is distinguished from some physical activities due to their special features, according to VanderZwaag and Sheehan (1978), “Sport is often dependent upon specialized facilities and equipments and is played according to specific rules and regulations established by a sport’s governing body (Shilbury et al, 2006, p.11)”. As a result, international and national governing bodies were created to regulate the rules and operate sports equally and conquently, to deliver the ‘value of sport’ to people. In recent times

Therefore, programs, services and resources vary in each organization. The public organization works for the general public to increase participation in sports, whereas, the services of non-profit and professional organizations are focused on specific groups of people for the community. Government organizations are interrelated with other sectors because of government’s funding in sports industry. In Australia, there are many different organizations in each sector, one organization may not cover the broad area, however, all together they will be able to deliver important values of sports effectively.
