    정의
    위를 팽창시키는 발포제(가루약)와 위점막을 코팅시키는 액체 성분의 조영제(바륨현탁액)를 마신 후, X선이 발생 되는 방사선 투시기를 이용하여 식도, 위, 십이지장 등을 촬영하는 검사이다
    목적
    궤양, 종양, 염증이나 식도열공 등 상부 위장관의 구조적 이상이나 폐색을 파악하기 위함이다.
    검사방법
    검사 전 8시간 금식하며 검사는 15~20분 소요된다. 흰색의 바륨 현탁액 240g과 발포제를 같이 복용한다. 위벽에 약제가 잘 분산되도록 복위, 앙와위, 측위 등으로 움직여 바륨이 중력에 의해 상부 위장관으로 잘 내려가도록 하여 촬영한다. 복부를 압박하여 촬영하는 압박 검사도 있다.
    주의사항
    검사 중 발포제를 삼키면 다량의 가스가 발생하여 입 안에 공기가 차게 되는데, 이때 가능한 한 트림을 참고 발생 된 공기를 삼켜야 정확한 검사를 할 수 있다. 장 폐색, 상부 위장관 천공 시 금기이다.

    목적
