A Look into the Negative Aspects of OutsourcingTable of ContentsTopic Page NumberIntroduction………………………………………………………………... 3Unemployment in the United States………………………… 5Effects of Time………………………………………………………………6Security & Fraud…………………………………………………………. 8Loss of Skill…………………………………………………………………… 10Communication Gap…………………………………………………… 11Conclusion…………………………………………………………………….. 12Bibliography…………………………………………………………………. 12IntroductionIf you look at the Webster’s Dictionary definition of the word ‘outsourcing’ you will see that it says the following:To procure (as some goods or services needed by a business or organization) under contract with an outside supplier. Source: HYPERLINK "http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/outsourcing" http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/outsourcingBut, to understand how this one word – outsourcing – is the source of a more than four-hundred billion dollar a year industry, you have to look deeper into its history. The concept of outsourcing can be traced back tth it? Is outsourcing the work of your company worth contributing to the unemployment rate of the country? Is it worth exposing your company’s security systems and making your customers increasingly vulnerable to fraud? Is it worth contributing to the loss of skill of potential American employees? What about the inevitable and frustrating communication gap? The inconvenience of different time zones affecting when and where work gets done? Are all these negatives worth putting up with in order to save your company money that it may be putting to good use to increase the quality of its services? The answer is no and the reasons follow.Unemployment in the United StatesThe economy of the United States has been in a reccession for a long time and people have no idea when it ends. Many corporations started takeing advantage of cheap labors overseas to minimize their costs. These corporations assume that the labors overseas can do it cheaper and more efficiently. It sounds great but, the actua decided to gone haywire, this adds to the delay and furthermore waste of time. Computers malfunction all the time and technical difficulties are an unfortunate burden that comes with any technology. Although technology has paved the way for global communication and communication alone it still is not 100% reliable. Now let’s make things a bit more interesting and say that both individuals needed a translator of some sort for both Japanese and English, this mean just means more wasted time.Difference is cultures may attribute to loss of time. If a company wanted to venture out and start a business in foreign country they would have to overcome many obstacles. When conducting international business, it is tremendously vital for business representatives to be conscious of different various cultural values and behavior. Something that is considered to be normal in the United States may offend someone in another country, as former President Bush might be familiar with (controversy with hiscome increasingly dependent on foreign laws to protect their interests. When it comes to outsourcing IT operations overseas companies often focus on slashing costs, but fail to take into account cultural differences that may affect their security. For instance, standards of privacy are often looser in India because it is a close-knit society where, say, reading someone else's e-mail wouldn't be considered much of an intrusion. This more relaxed attitude toward privacy could have serious consequences when it comes to protecting corporate data. When outsourcing, it is safer to document its processes and get all parties involved to sign off on procedures to ensure transparency. However, even with the added assurances being given by outsourcing providers, the differences between doing business at home and doing it abroad cannot be minimized, said Nigel Balchin, chief architect at Short Hills, N.J.-based The Dun & Bradstreet Corp. "We are all a little naive going in". One way of ensuring thamongst each other. Good communication leads to understanding and that understanding leads to good results. In outsourcing communication gap is said to be one of the negatives because where the work is outsourced to may not be familiar with certain cultures and the lack of understanding those cultures could reflect in the work performed. As one would typically assume, when outsourcing to different regions of the world communication issues will most definitely arise. A lot of companies’ customer service departments have been off-shored to places like India, China and other distant countries in order to provide twenty four hour customer service. However, in places where English is considered second language customers will have difficulties understanding call center agents because of differences in accents, grammar usage and pronunciations. Although those agents product knowledge may be exceptional (or perhaps they are reading off a list), nevertheless language barrier is undeniably one ofE 2

  • 비폭력 사회변화 (Nonviolent social change)
Peaceful Society from Nonviolent Social ChangeFor a long time ago, many weak people were repressed by violent social changes. Some people acted immorality because they wanted to gain their own benefits by committing crimes in our society. There were some massacres that resulted in the death of weak and innocent people for the benefits of a few people in high class. In other words, nonviolent actions come from those people who wanted to gain power and wealth. However, nonviolent social change, which rejects the use of physical violence, is a contrast to violence. The nonviolent social change has been making more issues than the past because it is important for our modern society. Modern societies definitely have some differences from the past. Today, nonviolent social change has become possible in our society because of love and passion which results in increase morality and forgiveness.Nonviolent brings a good impact in love. Love is something that is warming the hearts of people. It hety. On the other hand, children who are growing up with love will have great consequence to our society. This basically means that adopting children restores our community by reducing the number of orphans. The Martin Luther King Jr said “Agape is a willingness to go any length to restore community” (An Experiment in Love, 1986.). According to the Martin Luther king’s speech, love has a great effect on society by restoring our community. One of the characteristics of nonviolent is love, which makes possible to restore bad situations or relationships successfully without having violent actions. Love has a favorable influence that restores all community.Nonviolent has a good effect of the passion. Passion is very strong feeling about something. If you have a passion for something, you will get a strong courage. For instance, we can find a difference between people with passion and people without passion in our social environment. Let’s say there are two employees with different personaluture. Therefore, even though these two employees started working at the same situation, the employee who was passionate would be ahead at the end. The president Jimmy Carter said that “Nonviolent valor can end oppression.”(Liberation without war, 2004). The courage is derived by passion, which can end oppression. Like our social environment from the example above, if nonviolent people want peace and being opposed to violence with passionate heart, strong nonviolent valor can stop oppression and violence. Therefore, passion is strongly related to nonviolent because it prevents people from the oppression and violence, which also mean that the passion helps our society.People should be fulfilled a morality because we are not animals. Violent actions are not only disobeying a human morality, but also they are as same as strong animals eating weak animals. Strong animals such as tigers and lions usually eat animals that are weaker than them. It shows some parts of ecological pyramid. Howeve Humans Hard-wired to Behave aggressively? March 21, 2003). Generally, people have been learning about morality since they were born. Each person’s formation of character is formed during puberty. When people are young, they learn about morality to be able to control their violent actions. Moreover, these people won’t become violent people who are harmful to the society. Therefore, ethics learners do not act violently. We should keep a morality in mind because it helps to prevent from people becoming violent, and it will make society more peaceful.Nonviolent people may forgive violent people without any retaliation. Nonviolence includes forgiveness, which differs to violent. If every person makes punishments about other people making violent actions, there wouldn’t be any peaceful society. One combat veteran replied “If you did that, the whole of Mozambique should have been punished.”(Healing Lessons from Another war-torn society-Mozambique.2003) It means war makes other war and otherother people’s blood instead of their own blood if they didn’t try to forgive others. As nonviolent people accept their suffering; they attain freedom and maintain peace. Nonviolent social change is important because it makes more peaceful life through forgiveness.Nonviolent social change causes some important characteristics such as morality, forgiveness, love and passion. All of the people are suggested to learn about morality because people could control violent behavior. And, people have to forgive to injurers because it prevents other revenge. Also, Nonviolence brings good impact in love and passion. Love has power to repair violent society, and the passion causes a strong courage. In conclusion, morality, forgiveness, love, and passion are strongly related to nonviolent social change. They are caused by the nonviolent social change. Also, they are important characteristics that help to change the nonviolent society.ReferenceWylie, Margie. (2003) Are Humans Hard-wired to Behave ag

  • 세계화 (Globalization)
Globalization of Bad EffectThe development of industries and technologies around the world has developed since I was born. The internet, cell phone, and GPS; there are so many inventive products to give us good things such as convenience and quickness Globalization is at the center of change the world. The development of the computer network technology leads the spread of the globalization phenomenon faster and faster. For example, many students do not usually go to the library and they find the information from there, because people can find information what they want to know more easily. However, even though this phenomenon has some good points, globalization has three negative effects like damage to human health, environmental problems, and cultural standardization.First of all, globalization has caused the health problems. As all the industries in the world have developed, the numbers of fast-food restaurants and consumers have increased drastically. That is why many countries are establishing more fast food restaurants recently such as McDonald, KFC, and Subway. According to Michael Hastings, the growing fat problem in France emphasizes how unalterable the Americanization of food habits has become (The deadly Noodle, 2003). The problem is even more serious from developing countries, which the taste for American fast-food products (The deadly Noodle, 2003). However, this causes a negative aspect because many people who often enjoy their fast food are becoming obese. It is a more serious problem in the city and among children. The number of overweight people in the United States has increased; it is twice more than the number in the past 20 years (The deadly Noodle, 2003). In some developing countries, obesity has increased much faster than the United States and more new cases of diabetes arise (The deadly Noodle, 2003).The second negative effect caused by Globalization is the environmental issues. As the world becomes more globalized, the development of many industries raises environmental problems because most modern industries use a lot of natural resource such as petroleum which causes acid rain, destruction of ozone (O3) layers, and desertification. Akin L. Mabogunje says in his article, globalization makes many problems like desertification, water pollution, climate change (Poverty and Environmental Degradation, 2002). It is not hard to destroy our environment, but it takes much time and efforts to restore it.The third problem is losing own traditional culture. Globalization makes culture standardization. Every country has own culture traditions. But, due to globalization, weak nations have trended to be like western developed countries, despite that no one can determine which culture is better. But western developed countries are becoming as world’s stand for culture. In contrast of some week countries cultures are ignored by them. Moreover, many people are loosing their confidence of their own culture. Kunda Dixit mentions “The wisdom of the ages is now going to be another piece of jargon” (Exiled of cyberia, global envision.org)The conclusion is that globalization has a lot of negative consequences; they are problem in health, causes of environmental pollutions, and forces culture standardization. The development of globalization was not inevitable to pursue demands of people in the present day. Therefore, we should try to overcome these problems. Individual has an own thinking, appearance, and personality. I think people should more respect other people’s cultures. That is the only way to not lose ourselves.ReferenceThe deadly Noodle, 2003Poverty and Environmental Degradation, 2002Exiled of cyberia, global envision.org

  • 초밥 (한국과 일본 스시의 차이점)
KOREAN SUSHI AND JAPANESE SUSHIGenerally, people know that Korea and Japan are similar. Both Korea and Japan have many similarities like their appearances, culture and food. They have given and taken influence of each other for a long time because they are very close. The part of food is more similar. One of the similar foods is sushi. Sushi is one of the most popular rice dishes in Japan and Korea, and is also widely enjoyed in countries around the world. What kinds of sushi do you like? There are a number of different styles of sushi. Korea sushi and Japan sushi are the shape of similar. For this reason, people often confuse Korea sushi with Japan sushi. Even though Korean sushi and Japanese sushi have some similarities, they differ in history, ingredients, and popularity.First of all, Korean sushi and Japanese sushi differ in history. The origin of Japanese sushi is not Japan. This sushi was introduced into Japan in the 7th century from China. They have been making own sushi type. (ntly, a new type of sushi called Kawari-zushi has become popular worldwide. This sushi is a roll with sushi-dane toppings, and it might be more commonly known as Californian rolls. And Japanese sushi-making has always been a man's world by history. “Women cannot make sushi because their hands are too warm and that will ruin the fish” said Yoko Ogawa, 30, a chef at Yamaguchi in Midtown Manhattan (Elaine Louie (June 05, 2002) “She Has a Knife and She Knows How to Use It”,). On the other hand, in Korea, sushi rolls made without raw fish are called Gim-bop. Gim-bop is resulted from the Japanese futomaki style HYPERLINK "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sushi" l "Maki-zushi_.28roll.29" o "Sushi" maki-zushi sushi rolls. Korea sushi is transformed into Korean style sushi by maki-zushi rolls. Original name of Korean sushi is choong-moo Gim bop. It became popular among Korean people in the modern era.Second, Korean sushi and Japanese sushi are using difference ingredients. Japanese sushi use raw more highly nutritious than Korea sushi because the raw fish. “In Japan, eating raw fish is considered part of good neonatal nutrition” (Steven Shaw, july2007 “Chicken of the Sea”) When people eat Japanese sushi, people have to use soy sauce with wasabi. Also, one of the Japanese sushi use seaweed paper same as Korea. The seaweed paper used to wrap the rice and filling is called nori in Japanese and Gim or Kim in Korean. Even both of sushi use seaweed paper, Korea sushi totally differs that using mainly vegetables with rice. Gim bop is not using vinegar rice. It is not necessary to season the rice. When people eat Korea sushi, do not need any sauce. Korea sushi already put a little bit salt in vegetables. Unlike Japanese maki, gimbap is usually not served with HYPERLINK "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wasabi" o "Wasabi" wasabi HYPERLINK "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soy_sauce" o "Soy sauce" soy sauce or HYPERLINK "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gari_(ginger)" o "Gari (ginger)" sushi ginhi" Kim chi. And both of sushi is different way of roll up the sushi.Third, both of sushi differ their popularity. How many Korean sushi restaurant and Japanese sushi bar are in the America? We can find more easily Japanese sushi restaurant or bar than Korean sushi restaurant. Japanese sushi changed for American tastes when it came in to the United States such as California roll. In ABC news article said that “About 10 years ago, hundreds of sushi bars popped up in New York, Paris, London and other large Western cities”(“Sushi's Popularity Threatens Tuna Population”, BEN BARNIER, Sept 27 2006). And Japanese sushi is more expensive than Korea sushi, because Japanese sushi use expensive ingredient such as raw fish. “Blue-fin tuna is an expensive product, because the demand is high," says Thom. "The Japanese sushi market brings in a lot of money." (“Sushi's Popularity Threatens Tuna Population”, BEN BARNIER, Sept 27 2006)Many people in the world think Korea and Japan is very similar sushiry, Japanese sushi appeared earlier than Korea sushi. Also, both of sushi is using difference material. Totally, Korea sushi and Japanese sushi differ in three reasons, but we cannot compare taste between Korea sushi and Japanese sushi. I really love Korea sushi and Japanese sushi.ReferenceElaine Louie, (June 05, 2002). “She Has a Knife and She Knows How to Use It” Style, http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9C02EEDB113AF936A35755C0A9649C8B63.Steven Shaw, (July 2007) “Chicken of the Sea”.Ben Barnier, (Sept 27, 2006) “Sushi's Popularity Threatens Tuna Population”. • 랩의 역사 (The History of Rap)
The History of RapThe most widely excepted definition of rap music is spoken words with a rhythm of bass, drums, and keyboard sounds. The words are spoken over the music and the accents and emphasis on words is important. Hip Hop is defined as the accompanying background music but is often used as a synonym to rap music. In this paper I will show how rap got its start and evolved into the culture we know today as hip hop.Influences on rap music started as early as the 1940's when Rhythm & Blues and Jazz included many of the elements that make up rap music. Rap music became its own genre of music in the 1970's when DJ's from New York, such as DJ Lovebug, DJ Cool Herc and DJ Hollywood, began manipulating, and scratching, records to make rhythms, beats, and other sounds. As this took place the rapper would speak over the music using rhymes. The rapper would use emphasis and accents with their lyrics. In 1979 the Sugar Hill Gang marketed the first rap single with their hit "Rapper's Delight". This forced the world to acknowledge that rap was a force in the music industryIn 1986 sampling was developed. Rap artists would use beats, rhythms, background music, and sometimes exact lyrics from previously recorded songs and incorporate them into their recordings. They often used a machine, known as a sampler, to replicate the existing sounds and tracks. Sampling led to problems, however. Musicians whose music was used in other songs saw no profit from the sampling. This led to many lawsuits. Also, fans felt betrayed that the rappers didn't come up with their own music as they had in the earlier days of rap. Considered the "Fathers of Hip Hop", Run DMC pioneered rap music in the 1980's. The group consisted of three men. Joseph Simmons (Run), Darrly McDaniels (DMC), and Jason Mizell (Jam Master Jay) made up the most influential rap group of all time. They were the first rappers to have a gold album, a platinum album, a multi-platinum album, a music video on MTV and the first rappers to appear on many popular television programs and magazine covers. The late 1980's also saw an emergence of white rappers. The Beastie Boys were the first recognized white rappers. They had many hit singles during the 1980's such as "Fight for Your Right to Party", "Hey Ladies", and "Sabotage". The Beastie Boys continue to make rap music today.Early in the 1990's sampling was banned unless authorized by the artist who originally recorded the song. Rappers, again, began recording original songs. The early 90's also saw an emergence of a new, more explicit, type of rapping. West Coast Rappers began writing songs, which told stories of their hardships and also explained extreme situations of violence and sexuality. Many resented this and would fight for some sort of censorship. In response, the Parental Advisory label was developed and placed on all music albums containing explicit lyrics. This was designed to warn parents of what their children were listening to. In the early 90's Vanilla Ice emerged as the second white rapper to have a number one single or album. The single "Ice Ice Baby" and its accompanying album, "To the Extreme" both hit number one on the Billboard charts in 1990. Unlike the Beastie Boys, Vanilla Ice did not come from a tough childhood. He grew up comfortably in Miami. To make his image like a rapper he claimed he had a seriously violent gangster past. Many people viewed him as fake, but nevertheless he had a hit single. Vanilla Ice was a true one-hit wonder. After the single "Ice Ice Baby" fell off the charts he took a break from recording music. In 1994 he released a new album called Mind Blowin" The album did horrible in terms of sales. Vanilla Ice never had a presence on the charts again after his single "Ice Ice Baby".The culture that has developed has become the most popular and influential form of African-American pop music of the 1980's and 1990's; rap is also one of the most controversial styles of the rock era. And not just among the guardians of cultural taste and purity that has always been counted among rock 'n' roll's chief enemies--Black, White, rock and soul audiences continue to fiercely debate the musical and social merits of rap, whose most radical innovations subverted many of the musical and cultural tenets upon which rock was built and although it has changed among the years growing, it is then and now what we know and love today, rap.
