Schrijnen of the University of Nijmegen에 의해 1928년 처음 창설된 이래로 전 세계적으로 38개국의 회원국가진 명실공히 언어학분야의 최고의 조직이라 할 수 있다. General Assembly(총회)와 Executive Committee Meeting(이사회)으로 구성된 CIPL은 제18회 General Assembly를 2008년 한국에서 개최하고자 The Linguistic Society of Korea(LSK)에서 유치제안을 하고자 한다. 5천년의 풍부한 역사와 문화자원을 소유하고 있을 뿐만 아니라, 21세기 IT강국으로 Dynamic Korea로 거듭나고 있는 한국은 21세기 언어학 연구의 새로운 방향모색을 주제로 한 제18회 General Assembly(총회)를 한국에서의 개최는 최적의 선택이라고 할 수 있다.1. 유치전략5년에 한 번 씩 개최되는 General Assembly는 지난 2003년 Prague에 이어 2008년에 개최 될 예정이다. 2005년 11월 개최되는 Executive Committee Meeting(이사회)에서 경쟁국과의 경쟁 프리젠테이션을 실시하여 확정될 예정이며 한국의 The Linguistic Society of Korea(LSK)는 이에 대한 대비로 경쟁국과의 차별화된 tionally known as the "Land of the Morning Calm," is today a modern, bustling hub of East Asia.
