Park 1What do I want to be?My first impression of Columbia College was of the unique and artistic architecture. Actually, Chicago is famous for its architecture, and most buildings downtown have their own character. Of course, the buildings of Columbia College are some of the most famous architecture in Chicago. Especially, the building located at 623 S. Wabash has a long history with the Brunswick Company. The building was originally built for the Studebaker Brothers Carriage Company of Fort Wayne, Indiana as its Chicago regional office and warehouse facility. It was later owned by the Brunswick Company, makers of wood furnishings and built-in furniture for libraries, universities and a variety of public commercial and governmental facilities. By the late 19th century Brunswick became specialists in designing entertainment furnishings, such as bars, billiards tables, and bowling alleys and other drinking space. Actually, the history of building was quiet funny to me because after read that I heard bowling sound every time when I am there, and the other building at located 1104 S. Wabash has a unique appearance When I saw the first time, I was deeply impressed by the huge letters on the front show windows and the colorful artistic interior with light green and orange colors. Also, most students in that building were well dressed. One female student who was smoking in front of the entrance and she wore a long skirt, with red pantyhose and high heels. The red pantyhose mixed especially well with the color of the building. She even looked like part of the building. In that place I felt confidence and strong messages such as, “Do not give up your dream and you will never regret it” I haveBefore attending Columbia College, I was curious to know what kind of meaning there is in the name of Columbia. “Did the College come from South Carolina?” Or “Does the president of Columbia College respect Christopher Columbus?” As you know, the name includes a lot of things, such as spirit, hope for the future and purpose. Finally I have answered the spirit of Columbia College from the history of Columbia exposition which was held in Chicago in 1983. “Nominally a celebration of Columbus' voyages 400 years prior, the Exposition was in actuality a reflection and celebration of American culture and society for fun, edification, and profit and a blueprint for life in modern and postmodern America (welcome to the fair)” I think that name is one of important reason for the existence, and I believe the Columbia college stand with spirit of the name.The decision to attend college again was not easy for the following reason. I had already graduated from college in Korea with an industrial design major, and I had a full time job in the U.S.A, which had good benefits. Additionally, my parents wanted me to get married instead of going to college. However, I decided to study again in spite of the opposition of my parents, because I had a dream to be a movie director. I could not ignore what I wanted to be.September 3, 2007, the first day of class, I held my Oasis ID card that included cardholder photo, identification number and Columbia logo and other graphics. I came to the realization that I was starting college with my student ID. I was so nervous that I was going to be lost in a campus building or sit in the wrong classroom and I was anxious about meeting and talking with new people. In the first class, Oral Expression, I made one friend who has the same major as me. Actually, I was lucky to meet him who is called Izzy, because I have only general and English classes this fall semester, such as college writing, college reading and mathematics. After class we talked about the film and video major with some coffee. He knows better than me how to make movies and he explained to me about his own movie. He said “I love movie by director: They are Michael Mann, Martin Scorsese and Kevin smith”, also he showed me his own short movie by internet website that called YouTube. After that we started to look around the campus. First, we visited to the Columbia College book store, because we had to buy couple of text books. The book store has not much big spaces, and a lot of students were looking for their books. The store carried a variety of Columbia College merchandise including T-shirt, baseball cap, mug cup and much more, also every merchandise inscribed the letter "Columbia College” after bought text book I felt that I am being a student, and that feel was pretty good.Now, I have been at Columbia College for one and a half month. Like the message that my first impression of Columbia College gave me, I will develop my dream here and never regret it. Even though I am studying rather late in my life, I wish to get through college. In addition, I believe that many professional courses and experts in movie directing at Columbia College will help me. Therefore, I hope to be one of the famous alumni of Columbia College.

Satrapi, the main character, has a unique dream to be a prophet, but as you know every prophet was a man in all religious history. For this reason, men never recognize a woman to be a prophet. Nowadays, sexism still exist in this world, especially in Korea. It is common for a woman to be discriminated at work because of their sex, although the Korean government against sexism. Generally, Humans can largely be divided into two different genders; male and female. They all live on the earth sharing their emotion, knowledge, and behavior. Of course, they also play their own roles as independent entitles. As the same species-human-they commonly have same ability to feel, think,
