It is more important for a teacher to help students gain self-confidence than to teach specific knowledge. There is an argument regarding whether teachers more help students to gain self-confidence than to teach specific knowledge. Some people say that teaching academic knowledge is the most important thing because teachers` primary purpose is to teach knowledge. However, I believe that teachers should encourage students` confidence than just to teach knowledge. In this essay, I will present two reasons to support my idea.There is an argument concerning whether teachers should consider it more important to help students gain self-confidence than to teach them specific knowledge. Although it is true that one of the most important duties of a teacher is to deliver specific pieces of knowledge to their students, I believe that teachers should place giving students’ self-confidence ahead of teaching specific knowledge. In this essay, I will present briefly two reasons to support my opinion. First of all, teachers` commendation and encouragement increase students` confidence and students` psychological confidence makes them to desire learning more specific knowledge. To be specific, if a teacher praises a student, he or she is desired to increase a sense of achievement and self-confidence and these will be a motivation to learn specific knowledge. Furthermore, they would have an effort to get a strong ability understanding subjects. And this situation could find the student`s hidden potentials that make the student to succeed in life and the student never give up in any situation.
