How Low-income of Families Affect Their Children’s Obesity in U.S.How Low-income of Families Affect Their Children’s Obesity in U.S.AbstractSome people say obesity should be considered as a disease because obesity can cause serious health problems. Moreover, the obesity of children is more serious problem. There are many causes of childhood obesity, and low income of the children’s families is one of the causes of childhood obesity. Childhood obesity of low income families can be caused by parents’ inability to pay attention to their children, psychological factors caused from low income, and less education about diet. Childhood obesity is the problem that should be solved for our healthy future. And also to solve this problem, government should consider this childhood obesity as a world problem, not as a matter of personal responsibility of individual families, and should offer the financial supports to low-income families.Thesis StatementThere are many causes of childhood obesity. Lo5%, it is defined as overweight. According to Tyler and Horner (2008), 17.1% of U.S. children are obese and an additional 16.5% are overweight. This is a serious problem because the children who are obese have many health risks. The childhood obesity not only leads to high rates of type 2 diabetes, but also it can cause high blood pressure (Sugarman & Sandman, 2008, p.2). Because of these reasons, the obesity is a serious problem. There are many causes of childhood obesity, including low-income of their families. The problem of childhood obesity is much worse on the children in low-income families. Low-income of families are not cause obesity directly, but it can lead direct causes of obesity. Low-income can lead direct causes of childhood obesity because of parents’ inability to pay attention to their children, children’s psychological factors, and their children’s less education about diet. And to solve this problem, it needs the government’s different recognizing about this problem, use it is well balanced food and has lower calories than fast foods. Therefore, the eating habits and consumptions of fast foods and can develop the children’s obesity. In addition, the children who are in the ordinary families spend a lot of their time to play something or to do activities with their parents. However, most children who are in the low-income families are hard to spend their time with their parents because their parents cannot afford to spend time with their children, so it makes their children spend their time watching TV or playing video game rather than playing outside. Therefore, these life styles can also cause the childhood obesity of low-income families (Gavin, 2009).Obesity of children can also be caused by psychological factors. Children in low-income families have a lot of difficulties to reduce their stresses. Because they can not afford to spend money, so their hobbies or interests can be limited. They can also get chronic stresses because of gap between rices are hard to have preventive care visits because they can not afford to visit them. Preventing obesity is more important than losing weight after being obese. To prevent the childhood obesity, we have to know about how to balance the nutrition and how to lose the weight. However, the parents who can not afford to spend their time and money having educations on obesity do not try to know about it. Therefore, obesity of their children is getting worse. To solve this problem, according to Sugarman and Sandman, first of all, government should consider this childhood obesity as a world problem like greenhouse gas emission, not as a matter of personal problem (Sugarman & Sandman, 2008). Most people think greenhouse gas emission is a world problem to solve together, but they don’t think obesity is a world problem. “The same limited government intervention with respect to childhood obesity of the sort that has taken place over the past two decades will simply not suffice” (Sugarman & Sandman, tivities. The childhood obesity is not the simple problem. Obesity has many serious health risks, and the childhood obesity is becoming a bigger problem, and this problem should be solved. Also, the childhood obesity caused by low-income should be treated differently to solve. The childhood obesity in low-income families is caused by three factors. The spending less time with their children can develop their children’s obesity, and the children’s emotions or feelings can affect gaining weights, and less education about diet or obesity can cause the children’s obesity. This childhood obesity is hard problem for low-income families to overcome by themselves. This problem should be solved for our healthy future, and to solve the childhood obesity caused by low-income, the financial supports from government is needed. But the most important thing government have to do is considering this childhood obesity as a world problem, not as a matter of personal responsibility of individual families.GE 2
SummaryOracle CorporationOracle Corporation was founded by Larry Ellison, Robert Miner, Edward Oates, and Bruce Scott under name Software Development Laboratories in 1977 to build a commercial database management system for IBM mainframe computers. The project which it code-named Oracle was developed by Ellison and his partners. Oracle went public on March 15, 1986. After this, revenues were dramatically increased from $55 million in 1986 to $584 million in 1989 and the company became the one of the largest independent software producers in the world, employing more than 4000 people in 24 countries. In this summary, I’d like to talk about the products, strategies, vision of Oracle Corporation.First, I will talk about the products of Oracle Corporation. Oracle enjoyed tremendous market and industry growth in the late 1980s and early 1990s. However, Oracle reported a $15 million loss on $240 million in revenues. Even though sales had grown steadily, Oracle’s operating margins had fallen 7. That hoped would erode Oracle’s market share.CRM market experienced dramatic growth in the 1990s, with estimates of the CRM market at $4 billion in 1999 and projected to reach more than $16 billion by 2003. Ellison recognized that the importance of making significant impact in the ERP and CRM markets so we started to develop Oracle CRM. At that time, there were so many “best of breed” which is single software vendor solutions such as Ariba and Commerce One for procurement or i2 for SCM. Companies had lots of products and lots of technology but none of it was integrated. In 1999, Oracle consolidated the provision of instruction and educational materials in Oracle University. 2500 full-time employees in 143 countries supported it, approximately 500,000 students enrolled annually, and the University comprised 750 instructors, 400 classrooms, and 400 different courses. Ellison expected Oracle University to play an important role in the company’s future.iLearing which is another new Oraclassessment and deliver that contents via the Internet. In 1995, Ellison and Microsoft’s Bill Gates had opposing vision of computing. Whereas Gates maintained that PCs would remain the preeminent device tied into a unified network, Ellison publicly committed Oracle to developing software for the Internet. The idea is that everything users needed could reside on servers accessible via an Internet Browser. Oracle 8i is the Internet-enabled software and introduced in 1999.Secondly, I will talk about the strategies of Oracle Corporation. We were bigger software company growing faster and yet we only had 20 percent margins. Therefore we focused on improving the margin. I will tell you about the shift to self-service, incentives preserved and changed and centralizing the business for this. One of strategies for improving the margin is shift to self-service. When an employee makes the expense report, they sent it to headquarters before sales rep filled out expense report paperwork. If that same ers were based on revenue, we shifted their incentives to be based on margins rather than revenue. This shift would directly impact their margin and, subsequently, their variable pay.The last one of the strategies for improving the margin is centralizing the business. Our products are the same in every country so there was no reason we should have fragmented marketing organization. By June 2000 Oracle had gone from 63 to 17 company Web sites worldwide. By August 2000, the number was down to one: Oracle.com.Now I will talk about the strategies for marketing. Our strategy for marketing is moving from push to pull. Oracle’s e-business transformation not only yielded internal savings, but also generated “pull.” The pull came from our change in combination with the credibility obtained by doing this kind of transformation in such a public way. One way we increased volume was counter-intuitive that giving developers our software for free. Then we got more pull for our software.Another strateracle’s marketing portal. Now I will talk about the vision of the Oracle Corporation. According to Ellison, he expects that software industry will vanish and will be replaced by a service industry. It will buy an automation system that’s on the Internet. E-business Suite will not be something that should install software to use it. The e-business Suite will run on hosed computers at Oracle, reducing the difficulties on managing software and hardware. From now on, I talked about the products, strategies, vision of Oracle Corporation with brief history of Oracle Corporation. I could learn about many things on Oracle Corporation and their industry’s environments from this reading material. As one of largest companies in this industry, I think Oracle Corporation has done very well. I had no idea about the future of this industry’s environments. I was impressed when I read about the Oracle i8 which is internet based software. After reading this article, I got something in my head about futureE 1
